I grew up in Decatur, lived there in from the early 80s to 2000's. It's amazing to see how much it has changed over the years. Every time I go back, I find something new or see something different, good and bad it will always be my home.

My Pro that you didn’t mention is the MARTA Rail Station Downtown. You get to a MARTA Rail Station and you can get to anywhere in the world because it connects to Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

It's important for folks to remember that North Decatur does not get you access to City of Decatur schools. So, while you are paying lower property tax, you are also losing access to one of the key features of CoD for many folks (albeit not all). As with most things, it depends on your priorities and preferences, but I would be hesitant to offer North Decatur as an alternative to CoD simply because it's proximate to CoD/downtown Decatur. Other benefits to CoD are that walkability is high in most of CoD, bike lanes, and MARTA access in CoD is terrific - this is not the case in North Decatur. One could view the distance from the Interstate as a benefit, given the impacts of traffic on air quality. There are amazing homes in both locations; concessions will be made with either selection.

North Decatur is cheaper than 30030 because the schools are Atlanta schools not Decatur and 30030 also has our own police and fire departments. But it is expensive. The parking is the biggest issue. Fortunately, I can walk to the Decatur square. We moved there in 2010 because when we factored everything in it was the best option in Atlanta for kids, schools, and commute to Atlanta. There is so much to do for families and adults. It is also very diverse and that was important to us.

If you go down Columbia Drive, you have access to I-20. Don’t feel comfortable driving thru there? Take Glennwood to get closer to the city. If you take Clairmont/ Clairemont, you have access to I-85. You don’t like the traffic? Take N Druid Hills Road. You want to access I-285? Hit Lawrenceville Highway. There’s two access points. To say that there’s not much access to the highway is disingenuous.

The CDC is not in Decatur. It was annexed into Atlanta (2018) a couple of years ago from DeKalb County, It was never in Decatur

@@scpatl4now I stand corrected however it sure feels like it’s in Decatur on that part of Clifton road

@@kellycohomes I drive through the area all the time going to the Dekalb Farmers Market (another BIG pro for the area). It's probably the college vibe that makes it feel like Decatur. I can literally see the CDC from my back deck 😃

Simple don't move to Decatur, it's too compact and the roads are small, trying ellenwood, or Douglasville
