    You give an amazing number of pearls that people may not even pick up like being careful not to mixture gouache with your water colors because they make it milky. That experience is valuable.

    The best way to flatten your paper in the middle of painting or at the end is to let it dry or dry it with a hairdryer and then put it on your ironing board, paint side down and iron it. You can cover it with a thin cotton cloth but you don't need to. This is for 100% cotton paper. Iron it on the cotton setting. Do not scorch it by leaving your iron on it. Several Iron-overs are better than one long one. You may need to spritz it with a little damp water to iron it flat. It's so easy to get your paper flat and to continue your painting that way.

      I usually just do an outline of the body, the main body features, and wherever there are high contrast value changes
