The solo gameplay for me is the biggest draw and it’s fun to be able to play through using tactics from run and gun to stealth. PVP is great (DAYZ is a fave) although it gets a bit intense and the outcome of the experience can be fully driven by the other players, the outcome of GenZ is driven by your input only. For me it makes it a good antidote to my normal gaming.
I absolutely love this game! One of my favorites. The setting/atmosphere of the game is so well done. It feels super eerie, tense, and isolated. Easily one of the best atmospheres in any game! This game is criminally underrated

Great video! Had a lot of fun on this a few years ago on PS4. I have a decent PC now so maybe I will give it another go. I would love this to have a more survival element, like DayZ. Food, and water with some other mechanics to make it much more intense.

Went to Sweden in the 80's to visit family in the summer before starting middle school (6th grade). We got to see some of their summer and lake houses, so this game is like going back in time but with more freedom to explore the countryside of my grandfather's family. Too bad I can't relive the bumpy plane descent that scared the hell out of me as a child. Got to see one of Anders Hedberg's houses as well, who is a distant relative.
Have been playing this game for a week now, and so enjoy it. At first thought it would be kind of run of the mill like others, but was I wrong in so many ways. And I do have the companion with me and it really helps a ton, mine is armed with the rocket launcher but you can have either the machine gun or shot gun if you choose. As for the bunkers I have most of them done and the war boards give you the missions you can follow along with side missions. You can select your companion to various roles as well if you choose, I have mine as back up for health if I injured during battle, so it comes and heals me when I go down. You will have to keep resources supplied at your bench to keep up with the shield for it, but as long as you collect as you go you should be good to go. As for the bike part I never used it at all, I always went on foot to make sure I didn't miss anything. Weapon selection is also crucial when going out on missions, some are better than others and all of mine are suppressed except for rocket launchers or the grenade launcher, and the Barret has no suppressor as well so choosing your loadout can be challenging.
I only checked it out because Fisk played it on his channel. Love the game. It's a real gem. And fighting the robots feels different and a fresh take than slaying your average zombie. 😁👍
So I picked this game up through the PSN for free because of the subscription and I had nothing to do with it because I had no idea what it was. So months later I later decided to install it and give it a run to see what the game was all about. I have to say I regret not checking out this game much sooner as it has brought a lot of the type of games that I like into one and I’ve been enjoying it quite a bit. I’ve only been online once and it did help me get an experimental weapon and then that is help me get a few others. I’m not part of groups for this game so I don’t know what’s what what’s been changed or whatever the case is but after playing a few hours on it I decided to purchase a lot of the DLC‘s and I’m just barely hitting 30 at the moment as I have been mostly focused on running around destroying things gathering building that I had to take a step back from all that just to continue on the storyline lol. I’ve been enjoying it quite a bit as I just finished my 20th sum run through Terminator resistance.
Tbh the game still feels like it suffers from the same problem it always had.... it feels empty. Sure, maybe its "more" now, but its still not much. II really think this would have worked better as a survival game with basebuilding and pvp. Before anyone says that im just some pvp bro, no im not. Most games i play are singleplayer and i like singleplayer. I just don't think THIS one concept works well as it is and it would make more sense as a rust type game. The empty abandoned world just doesn't stay interesting for long enough. Literally ALL you do in this game is.... use binoculars to look at and hack robots, shoot and kill robots, run for AGES across a map with nothing really in it, and find a bunch of bland notes that are the "story".
I'd never even heard of this game until I stumbled across this video. Playing it now, very early stages and felt compelled to say thanks... so, thanks!
Still kills me that vision mods are on the WRONG SIDE OF THE SCOPES. PUT THE DAMN THING ON THE RIGHT, I STILL NEED THE CENTER OF THE SCREEN. Also spas-12 needs to join the weapon roster.
It took a few years till this Game was playable with that ruff launch it had, no Chest to store loot, loot economy was terrible, no mission markers at all, they even revamped the whole map which is awesome. Now in 2024 it became a masterpiece and heavy underrated game. Still theres framefrate issues even with ps5. I just love this Game and they put alot of love into it the past years
I need to get back into Gen Zero again. My son's been playing it a lot lately but I've just got such a backlog. Forever Skies, Aloft, 7d2d, Empyrion, ect, ect....

I downloaded it not thinking much of it cause it was a free monthly game on PS. And I haven’t been able to get myself off of the game, lots of fun. Very interested to keep on going. Kinda Erie at night and has a suspenseful edge. Kinda hard to control and aim but makes the game more challenging. All in all. I think it’s a top tier game that hasn’t gotten much love
Yup i played GZ but there is two things that i dont like: the robot sounds when you attack them is bit too loud and the "as wad" [as val] and the moller pistol it looks ugly as F and everything other i like about this game graphics... story
Since it's free on PlayStation Plus for this month, I gave it a try on PS5 and I sure did the right thing coz I can't put my controller down. I love the 80s ambience and that Sweden is particularly beautiful !
I've only started playing this game, 3hrs in and it's quite interesting. Don't have the greatest weapons yet and was not aware you can hack some machines, I guess that's later in the game.
@@stealthkillah122 Yes mate, I try and avoid when there's more than two models of machines, those big guys are tough as nails. But hearing them in the distance really helps with manoeuvre and escape drills. Lol
I actually just started a new solo campaign this morning after a couple year break, all of the missions I have done so far are voice acted now by actual in-game characters you meet. Not sure when this was added but it's much different from my last play through
@@VRBH1 You can play everything in offline solo, or co-op. None of it needs to be online. I got pretty far though the story last time but didn't finish it. Having it all voice acted is such a big upgrade. From the 6 hours I played so far, it is excellent, having NPC's makes the storytelling so much more engaging and seems to be more fleshed out than before
The game has such a great foundation, and had so much potential to become an amazing game, similar to an aRPG in grind / loot, but - its just an empty husk. Limited enemies, VERY limited enemies, and copy-pasted interiors. And once you've figured out the games enemy AI and scripting, you've pretty much finished the game. Once you're over the initial 2-4 hour mark, you've seen all there is to the game. The base building sucks, the story and missions sucks, and the weapon attachments need to be massively overhauled. And these gigantic empty bunkers... Its clear the developers will never add anything substantial. If you can get it on sale, its good for a co-op romp with some friends if you go in blind and never played it before. I think I got it for around $6-$10 on sale.
yeah i got it for 5$ myself and played with a friend, it was alright nothing too great nothing too bad just a solid sandboxy shooter, i enjoyed it quite a bit.
@fisk i noticed how in the start you ran behind cover when there were the drones, i was wandering what skills were you running?, as i found onr can potentially go prone and wait for the threat to pass or move on by, resulting in me one time crawling directly under a tank without being detected
I think it's kind of funny I just happen to be like, what is happening with Generation Zero, havn't looked at it in years. And here is this video. Thank you for the video.
This game just recently got added to Gamepass, so I checked out this video to see if the game is worth the download. Looks fun, almost like a sort of diet-STALKER but with robots.
Downloaded this on PS+ and it was literally unplayable. Aside from the graphics looking PS3 its almost impossible to aim or do anything due to some insane stick sensitivity with no option to adjust in settings. PS+ games generally suck but this was next level bad
Honestly despite a lot of negatives I played the hell out of this game, such a great core concept but would love a full all out remake with more interesting lore, better looting mechanics and higher playability.
Oh man, youre in for a treat.. And buy the Alpine Unrest DLC, its worth it my man.. (unlocks a new island and man its gorgeous there..) The Fnix Rising DLC is also very very good.. The best DLC in my opinion story wise..
@@dusermiginte4647 - I'll be honest, I don't like base building and defense. I normally play the game solo, but I do want to play FNIX Rising and will probably have to co-op it. So I've been putting off playing any of the missions connected to it until I've finished everything else. 😟
I love the concept of the game and I've tried playing it a few times for several hours each time, but always find the world devoid of much to do and it gets very boring unfortunately
@@luislongoria6621 depends on how you play as to how long those few hours take someone i guess. I'm a slow methodical player and I'm sure I've got a lot to discover still, but there doesn't feel like there's much incentive and i struggle to keep interested.
Have you tried playing co-op with your friends? I've seen some co-op playthroughs and it looks so much fun with friends. Try watching some of them - they are hilarious!
@@melodyseverything6999 Yeah good idea, i actually gifted the game to a friend as i really want to like it as i said, unfortunately i had a worse time playing with him as he stole ALL the kills and what little there was to do was pretty much gone completely. Mind you i ended up unfriending that guy at a later date as he was very selfish and he didn't like to work as a team not contributing to farming in games and throwing a fit if asked to pull his weight. Game after game he was a menace! Lol I'm guessing it could be better with someone you actually get along with. Hahaha
This game reminds me a lot of the Thing video game on PS2. It’s got a good premise. It’s definitely putting in effort. Has some cool ideas. But overall: The controls are clunky. The graphics are very last gen (PS3) The AI isn’t that bright. Crafting and spec feel like they were done in another language. And it relies too heavily on multiplayer to fill the gaps. In fairness though: It’s still fun to play. Fun to explore. As mentioned before has cool ideas that are worth exploring The machine design is actually interesting. Three out of five stars for me and I’d give it an extra .5 for the addition of the Resistance bow (any option to be an archer I jump at.)
I REALLY HOPE they add some robot AI in this that literally stalks and hunts u kinda like horror like, something from FEAR the game and use terrian to protect themselves from fire. peaking around corners trying to get close to u for melee attack and will dodge attacks and bombs etc... they can make it do alot of things and it can like almost one shot u but it would be hard to get up to you to equals out. after that it would be nice if that also add in some assains robots that don't stop hunting u and u have to kill them, they will always find u eventually and if they're low hp they will run away to try and repair themselves and come back after later on.
I was sold at devs sticking to the game, love devs that don't just abandon a game because it doesn't shatter sales

These Robots don’t want no Beeeeeeeef 🥩 !!!!
Just about to download it looks cool is there servers for multiplayer or what way does that work?
As soon as you screwed up the word investigate I couldn’t help but hear Fooster taking the piss out if you 😂
I've only started playing this game, 3hrs in and it's quite interesting. Don't have the greatest weapons yet and was not aware you can hack some machines, I guess that's later in the game.
You should try play with good headset if you have it. Hearing the robots in the distance is so good. Atleast to me
@@stealthkillah122 Yes mate, I try and avoid when there's more than two models of machines, those big guys are tough as nails. But hearing them in the distance really helps with manoeuvre and escape drills. Lol
Now they only need a proper single player campaign and then there's something for everyone.
I actually just started a new solo campaign this morning after a couple year break, all of the missions I have done so far are voice acted now by actual in-game characters you meet. Not sure when this was added but it's much different from my last play through
@@deceitive3338 This game has come a long way it seems. Can you play single player campaign offline and is there a decent story on it's down?
Fireworks and shotgun has been working pretty well for me so far. Are there any scopes that aren't cracked at all?
@fisk i noticed how in the start you ran behind cover when there were the drones, i was wandering what skills were you running?, as i found onr can potentially go prone and wait for the threat to pass or move on by, resulting in me one time crawling directly under a tank without being detected
Free on ps plus in September
Companion needs a serious buff. All it's good for is a distraction. Hunter as your companion would be savage.
I think it's kind of funny I just happen to be like, what is happening with Generation Zero, havn't looked at it in years. And here is this video. Thank you for the video.
most important question (for me): Is it worth playing Single Player?
Yes
This game just recently got added to Gamepass, so I checked out this video to see if the game is worth the download. Looks fun, almost like a sort of diet-STALKER but with robots.
This aged well being free on playstation
4:32 I have got the bike and moped unlocked but I find it so much easier to traverse on foot 😂
Det är en väldigt bra berättelse och spel. Jag hoppas att det kommer en efterföljare.
it really is.. I'm playing now
Bro I just started yesterday I love it. It's free to play this month yall join up!!!
did they fix the multiplayer xp? i hated that the host only gets xp that does not make since at all
Downloaded this on PS+ and it was literally unplayable. Aside from the graphics looking PS3 its almost impossible to aim or do anything due to some insane stick sensitivity with no option to adjust in settings.
PS+ games generally suck but this was next level bad
You can adjust sensitivity just go to settings, dual shock controller and adjust sensitivity
Played this for a while when it came out, kept running out of ammo couldn't kill anything so stopped playing.
It's friday and I'm exciting to have me and my roommates download and play this all weekend
How do you fix your controls because it's extremely sensitive you can't aim properly
Go to control settings
Honestly despite a lot of negatives I played the hell out of this game, such a great core concept but would love a full all out remake with more interesting lore, better looting mechanics and higher playability.
I played this awhile back. I'm gonna have to play it again after seeing this!
Oh man, youre in for a treat..
And buy the Alpine Unrest DLC, its worth it my man.. (unlocks a new island and man its gorgeous there..)
The Fnix Rising DLC is also very very good..
@@melodyseverything6999 you have some sweet fun time ahead of you.. :)
I love the concept of the game and I've tried playing it a few times for several hours each time, but always find the world devoid of much to do and it gets very boring unfortunately
Totally.
Only in the 1st few hours. You can always ride across the map if you don't want to walk or listen to the story
Hahaha
Thanks smii7y for making me interested in a game Ive never seen before
This game reminds me a lot of the Thing video game on PS2.
It’s got a good premise.
It’s definitely putting in effort.
Has some cool ideas.
But overall:
The controls are clunky.
The graphics are very last gen (PS3)
The AI isn’t that bright.
Crafting and spec feel like they were done in another language.
And it relies too heavily on multiplayer to fill the gaps.
In fairness though:
It’s still fun to play.
Fun to explore.
As mentioned before has cool ideas that are worth exploring
The machine design is actually interesting.
Three out of five stars for me and I’d give it an extra .5 for the addition of the Resistance bow (any option to be an archer I jump at.)
I never actually heard of Generation Zero until earlier
This is also a Swedish game inspired mostly by Simon stalenhag.
I WATCHED THIS WHILE IT DOWNLOADED LOL
Rocket companion or rocket turret? New DLCs kind of seem better for base defense as long as they don't blow up your base by accident
Coming free to PS4/5 September ps plus
