I went to all these statues over the course of 3 days. You could technically squeeze it all into one day if you rent a car, but I would not recommend it. If you do, you'll be driving all day and making really really brief stops at each statue; wouldn't be very enjoyable. Most statues are located in areas you'd want to spend some time in, take in the environment, maybe buy some local goods.
Remember, Oda commissioned these statues to help the economical restoration of Kumamoto after their nasty earthquake! Help them out!

I hope an on-going thing for Nami's statue is people leaving coins so it eventually is just covered in coins. Just one of those things were people just respect the coins being left and leave them there. Maybe let the city collect once in a while as donations for the city itself or upkeep of the statues.

I visited all of these statues by using public transport in 2 days. The One Piece Pilgrimage i called it.
Was probably one of the best things i have done in Japan. It's tough to do though. I did 5 statues on the first day which was easy, because public transport had kind of ok connections for the first 5.
After that you had to go to the tougher parts. Which included me to take a bus to the airport and basically walk 2 hours from there to the first statue for that day. (Walk was totally worth it!) After that i realised that public transport didnt leave from the Nami statue for at least 2 more hours. So there i was stranded. Talked to an information desk at a parking lot and one guy tried to help me out, but he realised i was right. I really had to wait 2 hours.. Right at that moment this Japanese lady walked in and told me that she wouldnt mind taking me to 1 statue. She was insanely sweet! We hopped into her car and went to her place first. She gave me some tea and mochi and after giving me 5 gifts for on the road the lady started driving me to the next statue. During the trip there she told me all about her life in English/Japanese. It was amazing! On Arrival of the next statue she told me she actually wanted to take me to another one as well. And it didnt end there because after that she took me to a third statue as well! Kumiko, i will never forget you!
Overall this was an amazing experience! This whole trip really felt like i was sailing the seas of the red line.
Also got figurines at each and every statue. They will always remind me of this amazing trip.
Good video i didn't even know japan made statues for straw hats just to show how one piece is that popular plus the statues look great.
I was in Kumamoto for a day a month ago, and I was disappointed when I found out how far away all the statues were, and that on foot it is impossible to visit them in one day.
I was only able to visit the Luffy statue.
Definitely have to visit them by car.

Hopefully we get a Jimbei statue which is placed underwater somewhere. Maybe along the coast so it is only fully submerged at high tide. But in an area where you have to scuba to see it would be hilarious.

They were all really good it's just 🤔 am I the only one that think their eyes and their expressions don't really work on Luffy ,Robin, Nami and Sanji😮
Don't get me wrong, I love all of the statues, but, yes, some of the expressions didn't quite match the characters.
Also, Sanji's trademark eyebrow curl is wrong. Both of his brows curl on the outside of his face, while his brothers have either one or both curl on the inside of their faces.
I saw that, and I was thinking "Why is Yonji's face on Sanji's statue?" (Yonji's left brow curls inward.)

yes, but how did you do it in one day? I am checking the distances and some are really far... I am coming to Japan in February and staying in Kumamoto for 3 days, in order to visit all the statues. is it possible to go by bus/train to all of them?
One day is a strict plan^^! You can do it if you plan well.. I had to film so I did it over 2 days haha

I seem to be having a hard time figuring out how to get to Nami and Robin via public transpo like trains or bus because I opt to use and maximize my JR Northern Kyushu pass. Are there taxi-hailing apps in Kumamoto like Uber or Grab that tourists can use just in case? thank you!
