I don't get to work on a lot of mtronic stuff so this type of video is a great help. Thanks.

I'm the person who has the friend with the 201 that won't start after a $450 rebuild. I will definitely point him to this video. He is so discouraged he is thinking about just buying a battery powered Milwaukee and be done with it. He won't let me have a try at looking it over. Thank you again for a great video.

I learn something from your videos, I have M-tronic (661) and Autotune (572/592) and have had no problems yet. I still love my 372XP without autotune though…😊

Broken, loose and missing grounds play serious havoc with electronics and can definitely cause a few more grey hairs👍🏻

I just went through that on a 241, wire was okay but the connection was a little loose and there was some weird waxy crud on the connection. The original black fuel solenoid was also bad and would not start at running temperature. I also installed a new orange fuel filter. That got the saw running, starting, and cutting great but it still wouldn’t idle very well. A new set of clutch springs and it idles great. This was the first mtronic saw that I completely rebuilt or have done anything other than basic maintenance. I found the troubleshooting to be very quick and easy. The bad connection took two minutes to find with an ohm meter.
Have you heard anything about MDG1 only working if you have a dealer log in? I heard through third hand information that Sthil has changed something in the software and it won’t work unless you have a dealer log in.

Nice save on the 241. Killer little saw. You'll need some help from a Rep to install the software on your computer. It is for sale to the public, you just have to talk to the right person. Even my dealer had to make a call to make sure they could sell it to me. It is more helpful on the 500i's as they have a good bit more going on inside.

@@richardflagg3084 Thanks. That 241 has turned into a great little saw. It does really good with a 20” versacut bar and CJ chain. I’m thinking about getting another one since Sthil stopped selling them stateside 😡
That’s good news on the scan tool I want it mainly for our 500.

Thanks, buddy, good show. Hey Flagg, QUESTION: what’s the story on using Marvel Mystery Oil in saw gas/oil mix? A logger uses 1oz per gallon with 40:1 2C oil mix. ALSO: The Honda HP2 appears to working very well in my 400C mixing 40:1. I caught it on sale for around $10 per 16oz bottle.

Glad you like the HP2 as well. I haven't needed or tested additives in the past so I can't say one say or the other on the MMO.

Your repaired 201TCM fired on first pull - is that common? My 201TCM, when cold, takes 7-9 but runs fine once started. I just assumed this was Germany's revenge for losing...

    • @richardflagg3084

It was flooded earlier and the attempts to start before the repair may have left some residual fuel in the case. I was not expecting it to fire on the first pull either.
