Give these nurses armed security. Let security carry AR15’s in front of the hospital. I know that guns are scary but it’s also scary for criminals. That’s why they never target places where people are carrying guns.
I worked there for a long time and the area has always been scary. I would never go outside. I’m sure it’s just a whole lot more fun now that Mpls doesn’t prosecute criminals and just releases them instead.
Maybe they should have a big sign that reads *no guns allowed on the premises* one that is as big as the hospital sign itself and have a guy outside with a loudspeaker asking people not to bring guns on hospital grounds that'll get the criminals to listen
That is brilliant “professor chaos.” The problem isn’t IN the hospitals, it’s AROUND the hospitals. If you knew your stuff, having a sign that says “No guns allowed” does not mean you cannot carry. It means you can, but if someone asks you to remove the firearm from the premises, you should or risk the consequences (which usually involve law enforcement). Hence the CONCEAL AND CARRY permit. Which requires one to be trained on how and when to use a firearm as well as when NOT to. Something criminals do not have.

@@09BiGDylan There are roaming individuals and groups looking for soft targets, no question. On campus, Dinkytown, downtown, Lake St, over North and South. Numbers don't lie, nor do your lying eyes. You're friends are right, gunshots have increased, but so has crime as a whole. If you don't have some element of concern for your safety in MPLS, past and present, you're naive. Organized gangs are roaming as well, but they're at war with each other. Kids and innocents getting hit by stray bullets. I had a bad feeling last Thursday when my wife scheduled a scan for our newborn at the Minneapolis Children's hospital instead of the Minnetonka one. After all, Minneapolis is half the distance from our home, and she had a heck of a time getting in. Well, we parked in the green ramp and took the 2nd floor skyway into the clinic, with no issues. On the way out of the ramp, I saw the signs warning of pedestrians and cyclists (I'm a cyclist myself), so I looked all the way down, both ways, and especially to the left (26th is one-way, WB), and saw no cyclists. Someone was kind enough to let us in since traffic was backing up at the light. I pulled in as far as I could, then suddenly there was a big THUMP, scaring the crap out of both my wife and me, who was sitting behind me, next to our new baby in the bassinet. Apparently, a guy in his 60s, who has seen a lot of sun, on a bike with no helmet, swerved out of the bike lane and over to my driver's door and slapped the roof of my car (hard), and hit my door - either kicked or hit with his wheel. My wife was very upset and angry and was screaming! She said that once he saw her face (she's Nigerian), he backed way off. He may have also seen the baby, too. Traffic started to move, but I moved slowly, wanting to talk to him. My wife, who was still upset, insisted that we keep going. Clearly, this guy didn't want a confrontation with us, and was looking down and making sure he was going slower than our car. I only wanted to coach the guy - to help him pick his battles wisely. He could have easily avoided us and not acted up. I just wanted to talk some sense into him. While I felt I did everything I knew how to do, to not block the bike lane, this guy felt entitled to "teach me a lesson". However, guys like me are not the problem - seeing the corner of a car partially blocking a bike lane in the distance usually does not involve a fatality. The dangerous motorists out there are the speeders. On the rest of the trip home, I had to navigate some "20 is plenty" streets to get back to the freeway. Apparently, 20 is not plenty enough! The meanness of Minneapolis residents tailgating others who are going 20 is something else! Next time, I'll go 15! I think that misguided cyclist would be much more effective with a pocket speed gun and some stop sticks!
There is a severe shortage of nurses for in-home care - we are supposed to have 24-hour nursing for my sis and only have about 1/4 of shifts covered by nurses and about half covered by PCAs. We would gladly provide a safe, less stressful work environment for them!
Thanks, Gov Walz and your liberal cronies for promoting crime and violence. Tying the hands of law enforcement during the summer of love in Mpls sure has improved things up there. When will voters wake up in this state?
Clean up the crime and people will come back. Go after the violent criminals and stop repeatedly releasing them back onto our streets and held the accountable. I don’t blame these nurses for going on strike. I have not felt safe taking the city bus, light rail or even just walking through my neighborhood. Minneapolis has gotten really bad. If you think Minneapolis was really bad back in the 1990’s when it was referred as Murdereapolis, it’s a lot worse now.
But cleaning up crime is white supremacy and enforcing laws against violence is racist..... LOL Minneapolis is getting what it deserves, what it voted for.
I grew up in Minneapolis.People put up with the cold winters and mosquitos in summer because it was a clean, fairly safe, well-governed place with a fabulous park system and all sorts of outdoor recreation. Things started changing in the 80s when there was a big influx of out-of-state people who came to.the city to sell crack and take advantage of higher welfare benefits. By 1996 I had had enough of slumlords, traffic, constant noise from the airport, crime and declining schools for my child. Left in 1996 and never regretted it. A beautiful place, ruined.
