I am so glad she also spoke of her memories of her father. My Father and mother separated when I was three years old and they never divorced but lived separate lives. My father died young of heart disease at age 44. Later my mother married a second time when all of us were adults and she lived to the age of ninety and outlived two husbands. My mother was one who prided education and made sure we all had a good education, faith in God and embodied the best of never giving up and challenged us to reach high.

My wife who is apolitical watched Harris speech and said finally someone i can be proud to vote for , she also loved the Gus Walz moment . She does not like politics because its so divisive so this message of hope , unity , and patriotism really resonated with her.

Common sense leftists would rally around a blue bug light right now if someone told them it was genius and can win the election.
Republicans were only mentioning about policy and more policies but they missed the whole point. The sincerity of her speech will surely translate to many good policies for the country.

He tried a fast track deportation policy that skirted existing protections and legal processes that was stuffed by the courts. There isn’t enough detention families or judges because Trump blocked the border bill that would have funded these necessary things. What I never could figure out though is whether he’s deliberately lying or if he’s genuinely so ignorant that he doesn’t realize how the system actually works.

Very true. I was born in Laos and my family immigrated to the US in 87 when I was 13 as part of the US Secret War in the country. As American citizen, while visiting Laos, I was never seen or treated as a Lao person, but completely as an American. I also proudly claim my American values and allegiance.

She went in only as a human being, not as a person only defined by her gender, race or belief. I think that was Hillary's downfall. Everything felt like it was built on her being a woman and nothing else. Doesn't feel like it's the case with Harris this time around, which gives her a much bigger chance to be relatable to a lot more people than Clinton was.

@@hcoughing oh, definitely. Just saying that "I'm a woman" isn't enough of an argument to warrant being elected (it should've against Trump, but that's a different matter). That's what her presidential campaign felt like it was built on in 2016 and why it felt stale and not very relatable to even many women. Harris is doing the right thing by focusing on what we experience as humans and not as men, women, blacks, whites, Hispanics, etc and she's telling a story that doesn't require you to belong to a certain category to find relatable. You don't have to be a mixed race woman to understand where she's coming from to be able to relate to her. With Hillary, whenever I watched her campaign, I felt like I wasn't part of the conversation because I'm not a woman. And that's a massive difference. Harris won't have won because of her colour or gender if she does win. She'll have won because people were able to relate to her story and her policies, and that's a much better place for women to be in politics. Not a minority that needs to get special treatment to be successful, but successful regardless of who they are. Obama already proved it was the case for ethnicity the same way, I'm sure she'll prove it's the case for gender all the same.
