As a qlder growing up I had a former parra player as a coach who showed me the Eels in the 80s...have been a massive fan ever since...Grothe.....best winger ever..daylight 2nd for mine...couldnt hit the corner post in those days either so it was tougher...had to barge through them

Guru was on the left wing, had to stop, turn around, and then set sail after Michael O'Conner who was at full speed, had a 10 m head start, and was on the other side of the field. He went one step too far in the tackle otherwise he would have had O'Connor before the tryline too. I only remember all that because I was a 17 yo at that game, Round 2 1986, the first ever game at Parramatta Stadium. That chase down has stuck vividly in my brain ever since, I'd never seen a human move that fast before in real life and I don't think I have since

Wigan lad here, who never saw Billy Boston play, but I can't believe that the great BB was any better than the Guru. Eric looked about as easy to tackle as a skip full of bowling balls going downhill. We're lucky to have so much video footage of some of the greatest players ever...

Only winger I've ever seen run down Michael O Conner. Truly a great one. His 1st try for NSW in 1981(he scored 2 that game) be his best I reckon.
