    Hey Landon! Great review. I have the Princeton FSR in Oxblood Tolex with a 12” Jensen. Everyone advertises it as 15 watts, but Fender has told me 12. I found out that it can’t say made in America because several components are sourced from foreign countries. They are assembled in Corona, Californian. In case of fire, I would save my Princeton before I saved any of my guitars.

      @@matheuscolombari3110 I only have this version, so I can only say that I think this version is great. I play mostly in the house, so this is obviously loud enough, yet it still sounds very good at lower levels. I’ve played it with other guitarists on occasion, and it more than kept up. I think it sits somewhere between a Princeton and a Deluxe Reverb. This amps makes all of my guitars sound their best. Highly recommended.

    Landon, thanks for the video. I was looking for a Princeton with a Celestion 12" Speaker and didn't know this model existed, but after watching your video I found a brand new Denim Blue in Springfield, MO and I just unboxed it today. I wasn't sure if I liked the Denim Blue finish, but it has a ton of character which grows on you. Beauty is skin deep, and after hearing the Princeton tone coming through that amazing 12" Celestion Blue Speaker, with it's cute little blue light, I'd have to say it's the best amp I've ever played and it looks beautiful to me :-)

    Nice review. A Princeton with a 12" speaker is a great combination. Another thing I like about this amp is no master volume or gain/volume control setup. I like being able to push both the pre-amp and power amp and a master volume control just gets in the way.

  • @lomoholga
    @lomoholga 3 года назад +3

    Great overview. Blues junior have their place obviously- for me the tremolo and reverb in Princeton’s make the amp sound mystical. Some say Princeton’s should have a master volume. Ok, fair enough, but there is a sonic magic with low watt single volume amps- you get overdrive from turning it up to the sweet spot, and I think if it had a gain control that overdrive sound at a low volume would likely not sound nearly as good. Can’t get everything eh?

  • @joeykelly5642
    @joeykelly5642 4 года назад +1

    What a great looking and sounding amp! Congrats, Landon!
    I love how plucky it sounds clean - especially with your Gilmour strat build. With the gain tones, your Mustang really made the amp roar in my opinion.

  • @spotterstockholm
    @spotterstockholm 4 года назад +4

    Dude you should be the industry standard for amp demos! Great job! And right on time, too! I'm looking into all kinds of FSR Princeton's right now. AFAIK, the '65 PRRI and all its variations are made in the US, while the '68 Custom Princeton Reverb (Silverface) is made in Mexico. I think that the amp is actually 12W and nominally 15W
    One kind request - could you measure the dB at different volume levels? At 3,5,7 would be enough. I really need to know to see if I can get away with one in my living conditions. Nice shirt btw. :)

    • @landonbailey
      @landonbailey  4 года назад +2

      hey thanks! ya I found the 15W label hidden behind the speaker cable. I’ll see if I can measure the DB sometime. I used to do a video where I max out the amps and record the DB level. It’s a really loud amp once you get the volume to 5.

    Beautiful amp. I played through a Princeton fsr in tweed with jenson speaker when I went to purchase a new tele at the shop, kind of wish I’d walked out with the amp and not the guitar, amps just seem an expensive luxury when you only use them at home and they have to be turned down! I'm not sure about the blues in this amp. Yes it's a great bonus for the amp to come with this, but just not sure about it being the best for the amp. I personally like something of a hemp come or celestion gold to get the thickness in the mids in an amp painfully lacking in mids and lows. If you want cleans, you can get some nice full sound with the above choices, especially if the speaker is efficient. 4 can be already stupid loud for home use. The stock Jensen's are definitely a bit anemic and scooped (which some likes). I switched out the PT for a much better one too to get better bass response.

    Congratulations on acquiring a great new amp. By coincidence I just saw your video after returning from L&M with my own new Princeton. Mine has a 12" Celestion Greenback and has "fawn" coloured tolex and grill cloth that you might call "wheat" coloured. It was about $160-$200 cheaper than yours because of the speaker. The Celestion blue is definitely top-of-the-line but that's okay, I got some in my Vox. They also had a tweed version with a 12" Cannabis Rex speaker, same price that seemed to have more bottom, but not in a good way IMHO. There is also a version with a 12" Jensen C12Q speaker and brown simulated western tooling tolex, but they didn't have that one to try. I bought mine to have something lighter and lower wattage for my gigs, which are slowly returning. If you look on the back panel below the speaker outputs it says 15W. One thing I do is buy replacement fuses that usually come in twos in a blister pack with a cardboard back and I stable that to the inside side of the cabinet. If it blows one fuse, it could be a power surge if not protected, if more than one fuse, the amp needs service. If you are looking for a con with this amp I've got one. I really don't care for the detachable power cord. That's cheesy and I'd much rather have it old-school and permanently installed into the chassis so I don't show up for a gig without the cord. And you can't leave it attached without it protruding out the back if you want to put the cover on or lay it on it's back. I've run it through the reverb tank velcro straps for now but will zap-strap it somewhere, maybe onto the tube cage. But it's a great sounding amp.

    Other manufacturers build higher wattage version's of the Alnico blue along with different sizes, cone materials & dope levels.

    Is there any benefit? I’ve always been interested in doing the same.
    I would imagine coining out of the stereo/R & L outputs of a multi effect pedal would be the method of doing it.
    Does connecting both channels really make a difference? If so, please elaborate.

    I love the clean tones on this, but I am laughing at the Dirt tones, because there is NO GAIN KNOB on this, so all the dirt you have is from pedals, which I guess is cool. I'd like to see a clean boost setting to see how it causes break ups. You should get an EQD Plumes, set it on Mode 2 and see what you can get out of it by straight up boosting.

    I have wondered something about your Intro Logo for some time. This is a little hard for me to describe, but here goes: You have a first name and a last name. Each name has two syllables, for a total of four syllables. The Logo contains a little "explosion" for each syllable of your first name. So, your first name is accompanied by two "explosions." But your last name, which also has two syllables, is accompanied by just one "explosion." This inconsistency has always bothered me. If your first name gets two "explosions" why does your last name get just one "explosion?" So, my question is: Why did you design the Intro Logo this way?
