For those wondering about the Hydroma boards: Hydroma is a trade name for a line of products by Rochling (Germany). The HY 78 "Natural" has a Shore Hardness (D scale) of 78, while others in the line have different hardnesses. According to a US supplier's website the HY 78 is "high-crystalline polypropylene" with "an isomeric transparent homopolymer without any fillers". So it's basically a straight-forward, high-quality PP-it (or PP-H) without a filler material (typically glass fiber of balls which blunts edge tools). It seems a Shore D of ~78 or a Rockwell R of ~90 is common for homopolymer PP. It comes in 10mm (3/8"), 25mm(1"), and 50mm (2"). Most suppliers' product listings don't clearly delineate between the polymer types. Many cutting boards are made from HDPE (a bit softer), LDPE (much softer) and occasionally UHMW (a bit softer). One supplier has a range of .12 - .22 USD/cu in with LDPE and HDPE on the low end, UHMW on the high and PP in the middle @ .18 (based on .75"x24"x48" sheet). Other commercial suppliers fall in the same range, although some offered significant discounts on different types.
I love the L work space I may incorporate that into my shop right now I am trying to balance my woodworking tools and spaces and my leather tools My leather tools are winning but I can get rid of the woodworking tools we will see. I love your new shop it looks awesome!!
Awesome space Nigel! Made me smile just looking at it and seeing how happy you are with it. Now if I can only ever get to your side of the pond for some tutelage...
Excellent workshop I can't imagine anyone who would not be happy in such an inspirational environment. You say that the tool layouts at each workstation is a work in progress,. Have you considered using a french cleat system? Cheap and simple to build and allows you to alter your tools, storage, and workstation layout at a whim without any further work or expense. But once again what a beautiful workspace.
Nice workshop, I am a metalsmith just starting to incorporate leather into my work. I am currently re-designing my studio for ease of accessibility. Unfortunately I have no natural light, but do have several LED workshop lights.
Beautiful workshop. I like the shape of the ceiling. Do you use Vinymo MBT a lot? I have them, but I found linen thread looks better. Ritza is a good thread, but the flat shape doesn't look good for fine leather craft goods.
I'm just starting out, I'll be really happy if I can turn s few things out for my family for Christmas and such that doesn't look like it was made in therapy class. Great content, really! Will you be teaching classes in this facility? Or is this a production facility?
Looking good Nige, hopefully one day I will have a workshop... by the way where are the peanuts, I have been stocking up after reading of your usage of peanuts :) rofl
Love your MAN CAVE Nigel! Hope you get lots of students who love your work, God bless.

Love it! But I do miss the wood stump. Great space, wish I had some. But in space starved Mumbai, I'm happy with what I have.

Where’s the log?
Beautiful ...
Would love a knife review, I recognize some of them but others I do not. What are your favorite head and skiving knives?
More organised than mine will ever be. I've a question. Where can I get a chose of mauls like that?
I will be there. Some day!
What type of vice do you have attached so that you can switch different clamps out
What is the bodega from Brazil you mentioned?
