I don't think it’s meant to sugarcoat anything, it’s more about showing that sometimes people are happy, even in tough situations. It’s just a different perspective, that's all, and its really not that deep.
Relax. UAE has its issues, but it has been kind enough to developing world, especially south asian countries to give their people a second home with not-a-perfect, yet reasonable livelihood, and a life that is better. Remove UAE from the equation and see where it leads millions of these workers supporting their families. Everyone cannot get higher education and migrate to your perfect worlds of US, EU, and Canada.

Noticed that in the actual apartments, there was no running water, nor equipment to cook food . So, why would there be a meat market, where can it be cooked . On the other had I noticed that laundry was placed out on the banisters so maybe there is running water in the apartments ? Are there bathrooms ?
