Tim, when you taught me at Berklee, I was severely mentally ill and unfortunately couldn't focus on music. But nothing is wasted, and I find myself even 25 years later still benefiting from the seeds you and others planted. Interestingly, like you, I've always been drawn to the idea of using simple shapes like triads and finding all sorts of ways to superimpose them. These shapes are familiar and have been for many centuries, so using them to create melodies is natural.

Mr Miller; the lesson is extremely useful, my thanks. However, I’m very impressed with the lovely, airy tone. The sensitive approach to technique and vibrato are also clearly demonstrated and hugely appreciable. I’m new to your playing, and was drawn in by the similarities with Allan Holdsworth, whom I’ve been overwhelmed by since 1977. This to say, I thank you greatly for making this style a starting off point for personal development and exploration. I hope it leads to a full field of guitar vocabulary and approach. Cheers

You know a cat can really play when his guitar doesn’t even have tuning pegs and he still manages to make it sound in tune!

This is so well presented! Mysterious and beautiful place to spend time harmonically. Thank you Tim. Altered Dominant sounds like some of the harmonies within the utterly cool theme song for the original TV series Get Smart. Could use chromatic lines too for tension. Very cool.

Or you could just learn the individual scales across the fretboard, and forget about all the rest.
