  • Saxophonist Mindi Abair has reached that critical juncture. After more than a decade of performing, songwriting and recording, she has taken a step back from the more polished sensibilities of contemporary jazz and embraced the sounds of past decades -- specifically the '60s and early '70s, a period widely regarded as the golden age of R&B, soul and funk. The result is In Hi-Fi Stereo. The album captures the raw and edgy aesthetic of that golden age, when a slab of vinyl could instantaneously put band and listener together in the same room and establish a visceral and enduring connection. Loaded with infectious grooves generated by a high-caliber crew of players, In Hi-Fi Stereo rekindles that spark for a new generation of ears.

    I played this for my daughter today. She said, "That sounds like the song they play at the end of the movie with the heartwarming ending to make everyone leave the theater extra happy." Sharp kid.
    I now have this programmed to be the sound on my alarm that wakes me up in the morning. Can't imagine a better way to start the day.

      KFSR 90.7 They're not a jazz specific station but they rarely play anything top 40. Mostly underground or "lesser rated" types of music.

    Like I explained to schoomzer there, go try it for yourself. If you haven't tried to publish your own music or can't even play an instrument, rethink your strategy for judging people. You could say anything bad about any musical genre and claim it's a place for people with "no talent". It happens to each and every single genre that has ever existed. Also their is this thing called an opinion. If you're going to spout it, be damn sure you can support it. Have a nice day.

  • @Riffer16
    @Riffer16 12 лет назад

    Can you play this? Can you create music and call it your own? Have you been largely successful and famous? If not, you might want to try. Because then you'll gain this amazing little thing that intelligent people call "perspective". Now I'm guessing you're a troller, otherwise you'd be smart enough to stay off of music you don't enjoy. So you probably do like her music to an extent. Go ahead and try to denounce my above statements. Make my day. And have a nice one yourself.

    You only wish I could stoop as low as you do. I don't need to read your posts just the same as you don't need to post here at all. And for the record, my musical tastes far surpass yours. That much is evident by your 'hate-all' attitude.

  • @schoomzer
    @schoomzer 12 лет назад

    FYI, Neanderthal, opinions are subjective. They do not need to be supported!!
    Statements that are purported as facts must be supported!! Also, your position that a non-musician should not critique music is very foolish. All of your arguements lack credibility because they are illogical.

    If you heard one of Mindi's songs, you've heard them all, and I would say they all suck. Mindi is ruining the smooth jazz genre with her crass sound. Take more lessons, Mindi, and please don't sing, because that is even worse. Her pitch is so off. She must be tone deaf.

    No style, just a David Sanborn / Candy Dulfer copy.
