Adam your reaction to this really got me, even though I've seen the show and was shocked by the death and the emotion between Dean and Sam moments before, it still comes back 10x when I see your response. The one time Chuck's interference would've been timely.

collard true that when I saw the ep I cried and I was also berating myself for crying, and I was like saying to myself its fiction I've seen some of the main cast others and recurring guest stars in other shows way prior to Supernatural and I was naming every show they've ever been in that I've seen yes I know that's weird. I was nervous as hell before what just happened to Dean because of the last case being vampires that flash in 15x06 I thought it was gonna actually happen and I was nervous as heck I'm mad that Dean dies but I'm also thinking couldn't Dean still come back? not that whole cheating death resurrection kinda way I mean like he becomes an angel and stays with Sam or supernatural baddie so powerful Sam can't handle and Dean gets resurrected by Jack or something?

I was good for the whole scene but those three sentences broke me so hard i couldn't breathe.

I think it hit harder than it did because i was rewatching the show a few days back from the pilot and that scene was fresh to me.

It killed me to see Sam all alone other than miracle of course.
Yeah pretty much, they had a lot of guest appearances planned but due to COVID a lot was canned. Cas was supposed to be back but couldn’t due to be stuck at home due to COVID.

The moment they showed the shot of that protruding steel spike on the wall..I just knew something bad was going to happen to either one of the brothers..It was so reminiscent to how Sam died way back when he was stabbed in the back..That also made me cry so much..Both Jared and Jensen acted it so well..This time their roles were reversed and it's just equally as sad or even 10x harder because we know that this will be the end..no ressurections afterwards..It's really heartbreaking.
I just figured it would be the vamp not Dean. Totally caught me off guard.

While sad, this ending was the best one. Jensen is right, we have to take a step back from our emotions and think logically how this was the only ending that made sense for the boys.
You may feel that Dean dying from a simple "MOTW" was so...average. It seems like a relatively normal death compared to the ones we have seen in the past. However, this is the first hunt where Sam and Dean aren't controlled by Chuck. I am not saying that they couldn't have done well without Chuck's help, I am just saying that this is the death Dean has wanted since season 1. It was his c h o i c e, his own free will that allowed him to let go.
He stayed living for so long because his mission on Earth wasn't finished. He had to protect Sammy, until he realized that Sam was strong enough to live without him and have a life of his own. The only way Dean would be happy, with everyone he had lost, was to go to heaven. This was the first time he did something for h i m s e l f. He died on the job, fighting. After all, that was the way he wanted to go. Dean wouldn't be able to be happy just chilling on a beach somewhere drinking martinis(on the outside, maybe, but deep down there would be something missing). Hunting was all he has ever known, and Dean would choose to die on the job before he would ever retire.
The death was slow, so it gave him time to tell Sam everything he has wanted to tell him from the beginning. His speech showed Dean's character development while his death was noble. And, this was the first time that Dean ever said, "I love you" to anyone in 15 seasons. (Also, can we talk about the parallels in the writing??)

While sad, it makes complete sense to the storyline and to his character. It was also the only way that Sam would get a family of his own, when he knew he had to move on from Dean and the hunter's life. Sam was able to have a child and grow old and die with his son by his side. Dean only has to wait a short while in heaven until he sees Sam again(time is different in heaven). Also, when Sam let Dean go, showed MAJOR character development, realizing that if you love someone, you let them go. The only way Dean would go is if Sam would let him.
Sam got to live the 'normal life' he always wanted. Remember when Sam and Dean travelled to a nursing home to solve a MOTW(the same episode Sam met Eileen)? He grabbed a pamphlet for the nursing home on his way out, which shows how he still had hope he would be able to retire from hunting without dying... This was Sam's happy ending, and Dean got his. They went their separate ways for a while then came back together in the end.
Also, Heaven is free, allowing Dean and Sam to be happy, especially since in the old heaven they would have to relive good memories, and be stuck in a fake reality locked in a room. The New Heaven allowed Sam and Dean to have another chance at happiness, at the life they deserved.
Cas got to get out of the empty and helped his son watch over the Earth... Cas, being the angel he is, would want to help Jack in rebuilding Heaven, the right way. It also makes me happy because Jack is not completely alone, he has his father to guide him in making the right choices, something Chuck didn't have. And just because Sam and Dean didn't see Cas from the finale, doesn't mean they didn't see him in the future. It leads doors open for a possible sequel.
All in all, Supernatural did the best they could with the situation they were given. The ending makes sense to their characters, and it makes sense to the storyline. Sam and Dean are at peace together, living the life they always wanted with their friends and family next door to them, under free will. I could not have thought of a better ending for the boys(that was realistic). I mean, would we really be happy with a n y ending?
You summed this up perfectly! I do wish certain things were different, but at the end of the day, this ending is beautiful, makes sense, and is open for the boys to come back (whether as a reboot or a movie)

tbh i really liked the ending, and i think Dean had to die for sam to have his happy ending, but i didn't like the way that dean died
I mean the way that Dean died is really significant. He always talked about how he knew his end would be mundane and he was okay with it. And that's how his story ended.

Fuck off, this is a parallel to Sams death in season 2, if Dean got Mauled by a monster he couldn't say goodbye to Sam. And if he lived a forever happy life then it wouldn't be true to his character.

My husband couldn’t stay up last night to watch it , so he wanted to watch it an hour ago. Thanks to me knowing what was coming, having no sleep and being a crazy easy cryer (like Adam lol) , I was dying , deceased and sobbing almost the whole way through 😭😭😭 I’m now exhausted and my eyes are sooo red! I just couldn’t stop for the last 30 minutes of it. Was still emotional at the beginning but I was worse and worse as it went through 😭💔 I was crying through the carry on song and just sobbing 😭 the end scenes of sam had me too , I was demolished at the end too Adam 😭 hugs to you, i was feeling the same pain ❤️

After everything Dean survived, to think they killed him definitely with a damn nail in a random barn... I felt it beyond disrespectful.
Well before they had Chuck writing their story. They had his protection and now they have true free will. I get being disappointed, but Dean got to go out on his terms and Sam's acceptance of that shows that. Not to mention real character growth. It also makes sense he'd die randomly on a hunt, other hunters have because life is unpredictable, especially when you don't have God writing your story. 🤷🏻♀️

@@sarcasmxkate Sorry to tell you if you didn't notice, but... Dean had adopted a dog, and he was also filling a job requirements. Those are long-commitment-intended things. So I agree about the "life is unpredictable" part, but the other thing? That's a big NO, Dean certainly didn't go out on his own terms. He wasn't planning going out in ANY way, he was planning living his life...

this is Deans ending. He wanted to die on his own accord. He wanted his life, and death to be unscripted. Thats why its beautiful.
This is the reaction I was expecting out of so many more people, but every reaction video on this is all somber, a few tears, but no where near this reaction. This is a true fan.

I don't cry when watching shows, but supernatural is one of the only shows that has made me consistently cry, and Deans death and Sam mourning made me ball my eyes out

So here's the thing I cried until I passed out but I do think we all knew this was how it was going to end. I just keep going back to season 8 where Dean tells Sam "you with a wife, and kids, and grandkids, THAT is MY perfect ending". In the end, both Sam and Dean were happy and that's what matters. Yeah, Cas should've been there, and I didn't like that he wasn't but I am not mad about this ending at all.
I've been watching supernatural for 10 years..and I've only properly cried a total of twice. Both times during the same episode. I cried when Sam died and I actually sobbed when Dean died..
I love this show so fucking much, I thought it dragged out especially with 15 seasons. It should have ended a while ago imo.. But this show will always have a special place in my heart. So in honor of all the fun and memories this show has brought me, I've decided to finally get an anti-possession tattoo.
I'm going to have a lot of fun rewatching the whole show lol

Chuck was keeping them alive because they were his "favorite characters", but when Jack took over he said that he wouldn't meddle or interfere with fate.
It's been 2 years and I still refuse this episode! lol Adam accurately representing us all. I cried when Cass died. I BAWLED so hard my head hurt the next day with Dean. I was mildly sad w/ Sam.. he lived a long life with a bad wig after all.
