I had this idea too. I was surprised to see the auto battle AI can dance units now. I really want to see a video analysing "advance" versus "charge". Advance mentions something about moving in a more "flexible" manner but I'm not sure what they mean when they say that.
So from what I discovered durring my run, "Advance" is charge but everyone has to be within movement range of alear. If they are not in range of alear they will just run towards them. Charge will just go for whoever is nearest. Which make split maps hard. I wish it had the 3DS auto that you could set specific units
I can't finish this video because I'm only on chapter 16, but I enjoyed what I saw. Alcryst surviving on chapter 11 was pretty crazy. I had to let mine die on that same chapter because I couldn't get through the chapter without someone dying (on hard). I'll hopefully remember to come back when I've finished the game.

all the way to chapter 24 was an amazing run especially with auto battle only and yeah I kinda figured that chapter 24 would result in game over because I honestly tried to solo that map with a max stats wolf knight Alear and I kept getting whooped by past Alear's lodestar rush since its one of the deadliest moves in the game since theres no dodging for that so I had to restart the chapter and bring Veyle with Tiki Emblem just for my Dodge tank wolf knight Alear to bypass Lodestar rush troll then finish the chapter
Was watching this with my friend and during all of chapter 17 we keep losing it over the AI's decisions to ignore all the big enemies. Zephia especially was hair pulling and the allies just standing in long ass lines for her was the painful cherry on top.
Honestly that only happens if you choose charge they move normally if you choose advance (I’ve done this challenge full auto) the fog maps are possible (on casual at least)
5:22 this sound effect always makes me happy each time I hear it, Donkey Kong Country 1,2 and 3 were among my favorite games 2nd to smw from the time I was a kid, so retro and yeah Snes was my first home console I ever got and Smw along with Dkc2 were my first 2 games I ever got for my snes

I assume you know now but 20% means 20% in Engage when it would be like half that with real chance in 3 houses. over 50% still scales close to how it did in 3 houses so dodging a 70 is impressive
This game puts the rest of the Fire Emblem series to shame. It's just PERFECT. I also love how they use a hybrid hit rate system so enemies can actually hit you at low hit rates, unlike in Three Houses where you can dodge tank everything.
I would recommend making more use of skill inheritance like hold out, evasion strats and quality time+ etc. for better bulk. Also it looks like reclassing mounted units to footlocked ASAP is the way to go (maybe even making everyone archers so they don't have to survive multiple waves of counters).
one thing I found interesting about this game is on casual mode any units other than Alear are out of steam while standing in casual, but as for classic mode but those who doesn't play a big role in cutscenes literaly just dies, I was in casual mode myself and Hortensia dies a lot in my team but always back on her feet while retreating but when I was in tempest trials her death animation was heartbreaking, thats how I witness the differences of death animation between casual and classic mode
I wonder if you could manipulate the ai more by changing their equipment. Like if you take away a healer’s tomes will they stay safe and just physic? Or removing seadall’s emblem ring and arts so he just dances/chain guards perhaps? Really fun vid though!
Chapter 17 was infuriating 💀 AI STOP LINING UP!!! And lmao during chapter 21 I thought “oh wow, this is gonna be tough… he’s gonna have to bring under leveled units, how will the AI get through this? But then the chapter started and you literally had no more units, I just forgot they apparently all died lol

3DSFE had something like that where you could tell all of your units individually to A: charge forward, B: defend your Lord, or C: gather around your Lord but out of range.
I play casual just because it’s much easier to farm just using autobattle on the side missions. I would assume on Normal it is possible but we will see.
@@ItsPND it’s the attrition. If you start every map with your team you have a chance to beat the final boss. I think that and the shard maps are the only ones you can essentially not be able to clear with a full team. You got WAAAAY further than I thought you would get.
I'm stopping at 41:20 because I haven't beat this chapter yet, but since it's 3 minutes to the end, I bet you can't beat Engage on mostly the Auto Battle doing everything for you.
I think pretty much the only chance you have with this run is to just build vantage wrath on as many units as possible and hope they survive long enough to eat engage attacks for Alear.
eating the engage attacks for alear is def the hard part another hard part is on sombron a good chunk of reinforcements start with wyrmslayers too which is scary

If one day you try again, don't use any flying unit, they kill itself easily, same about the character with the lyn emblem (he doing clone to protect other but trigger a lot of ennemy all the time)
yea i tried to completely avoid skirmishes, but trainings are different. If you do one listed as training it's essentially a casual mode map where if someone dies they come back

The most upseting thing with auto battle now is the unit paired with Celica who always suicide itself, thinking that it is a one man army, using telegranation right in the middle of 20 enemy units, kills one and then gets spanked because mages have weak defense🤣
Since you asked why you were getting hit by 20%s I’ll answer, the reason is because unlike most fe games that use the 2 rn system Engage uses the Hybrid rn system which means that if the hitrate is below 50% then it is actually the true hit rate, 20% hits will hit 20% of the time but if it were in another game that’d be like 8%. Its the same system used in Fates and Echoes too and those games are imo peak fe. It’s really just the game telling the truth for once.
Hold on, did they actually give the autobattle the same AI as the enemy in this game? I tried this challenge in Awakening, but... well, autobattle seemed way dumber than the enemy AI.

I tried the same thing in 3H, but the AI couldn't get past the chapter where you save Flayn. It's nice that the AI uses emblems, because they didn't use arts in 3H.
It's too bad that stopped my run. With bows being capable of 1-4 range enemy phase was super doable and I had all my physical units learning bows. I also tried to use the anti cavalry lance art (knightkneeler?) for the death knight, but I don't think I ever got it to work.
I'll think about it, but i'm pretty sure that would be way more luck dependant considering you cant get lucky with levels and whatnot. I know people who spent 200 hours trying to beat maddening lmao
