  • Are you a plus size park enthusiast like myself? Frustrated with the dreaded "walk of shame" when you try a ride only to find out you don't fit? Well, I have done the hard work for you, and given the ride a good "Fat Guy Ride Test". Now, you can plan your day and make the most of our visit to the park by knowing ahead of time the question to....."will I fit?".
This past fall, I was able to visit Busch Gardens Williamsburg. While there, I did some Fat Guy Ride Testing on several of their attractions.
For this video, I will be performing a Fat Guy Ride test on the Apollo's Chariot roller coaster.
I hope this helps....thanks for watching!

Thank you for all your videos! I've been large all my life and appreciate your efforts. Including the math is awesome! I shared with my adult kid. Seriously. Thanks for putting this into the world.

I had to do the walk of shame from this coaster. I haven't been back, it's been over 15 years.

Went to ride this yesterday. I got in the test seat and the line showed I'd be able to ride. Then I went to get on and the worker told me he needed more clicks and wouldn't let me ride. It wasn't the first time that day the test seat didn't match the actual seat they were using on the ride. So beware when you go to ride.
Luckily there wasn't a huge line and I only wasted my time and energy walking up to the coaster before being told I had to get off.

I have massive thighs so it can be a struggle. Never did the walk of shame on a B&M hyper but I think this new 3-click rule is absolutely ridiculous.

I am also not a fan of the 3 click garbage. I've gotten 2 many times and was turned away......frustrating.

0:37 Apollo's Chariot is not the largest roller coaster in the park. That record belongs to Griffon. (Griffon is 205 feet tall while Apollo's Chariot is only 170 feet tall)

    • @DorkyDude

Largest in overall length sir. Plus, although the above ground height is 170, the terrain takes is into a dip below ground level that translates into a 210 foot 1st drop...exceeding Griffon

This one looks like the clamshell has to come down a little bit more compared to the newer Hypers like Diamondback. Probably harder to fit on this one compared to the others

They all are supposed to have the same seat dimensions but there seem to be slight differences. I think it comes down to the age of the seats and how many riders have warped the original restraint over time.

It really depends on where you hold your weight and your height/weight distribution.....305 will be tough. Good luck. Let me know how it goes.

I know I'll fit on this, but it doesn't have sensor light.

    • @DorkyDude
      @DorkyDude  2 года назад +2

It clicks into place and shows the red bar at the base of the restraint to let you know you've got it in place.

@@DorkyDude I fit on Diamondback, and Orion without any concerns, real soon, Fury 325, and Intimidator 232 at Carowinds in Charlotte North Carolina this summer for the first time.

Hmmm. Test seat must be broken in a little of something. This is good info to know. Thanks
