Easily one of the best episodes from one of the best drama series the BBC ever produced- everything is near-perfect here, from the scripting, direction and the fantastic casting. The bleak ending is the cherry on the cake with David Bradley in particular on fine form as the tormented sergeant who dared to tell the truth.
I cant stand women who go after married men, nor men who cheat on their wives.. On another note, I don't think whistleblowers have ever been given enough support to deal with the aftermath. An excellent episode.. thanks for uploading
Lying does effect good people;”Nothing is truer than truth”. It is better to be Trusted than Loved” I have learned that these statements are true. 'Satisfied' he asks after he destroys the dresser, blaming his wife for his infidelity. This is how an abuser acts. I keep hoping he is brought up for his infidelity, loses his job and his pension.
I loved when she burned the dresser…. hate the memories of it…. it & the relationship will never ever be the same. That is a fact. The relationship might go on but it will never be the same!!
I hate a story where the villians gets away with it or where people cheat on their partners. These bent coppers are stupid as whilst they may have gotten away with this case their celebration afterwards just shows they are all heading for a bigger fall in the future as they will not change their ways. Their cards have been marked and they will always be under suspicion. I would have leaked the story to the press giving them copies of the taped message that the policeman received.
The death of Sergeant Ross would be investigated and they may have heard that strange message DI Corbett left on his answering machine if he didn't delete it.
Scumbags frequently get away with corruption especially when they have power or wealth, just look at the Post Office scandal. S4C reported on it in 2009 and very little was done. Several BBc articles on it and little was done. Now after an ITV drama a lot of noise but still little action.
Moral: Don't try to jugle two women at the same time especially when the tart is ugly. Moral: Don't marry someone with a 24 hour job (like a doctor or policeman) if you can't take it. And for crying out loud, leave if you're so unhappy.
THESHOMROM The first of those isn’t a moral. That’s, what, cheating management advice? I’m curious about the second - are you saying you’d never date a police officer or a doctor?
love this gets better and better every time i watch it, Brilliant cast.
Brilliant episode from start to finish....
Absolutely love this...

Agreed
OMG - a very young Neil Dudgeon! Midsommer Murders! Good show - love the dark plots. Keep them coming. Thanks Jeff - from LONDON, Canada.
And the Jim Carter the butler out of "Downton Abbey".
And David Bradley, who played Walder Frey on GoT
and neil dudgeon isn't familiar in the bbc he's bin man ken andrews in common as muck
He ruined Midsomer murders a very poor actor .

I totally agree..it must be sex because like many of these women who throw themselves at married men...she is no oil painting.

one of my favourite shows ever 🍸
this was so good and so dark. no hope.
One of the bleakest endings to any episode that I can recall.
Sue so needs a good boyfriend, maybe a doctor from her work.
Then a good divorce lawyer.
She needs a good woman?
When you think you know , You Know
'Satisfied' he asks after he destroys the dresser, blaming his wife for his infidelity. This is how an abuser acts. I keep hoping he is brought up for his infidelity, loses his job and his pension.
This is why he is an interesting character.
SHOMRON, You are a moron of epic proportions.

Although I will keep watching, I find these episodes quite stressful to watch with the combination of the police events and the personal lives.
Cracking cast, and still so young!
Totally! 🍸
Bloody good episode this one. Very dark on a Masonic level.
Perhaps this show could be called, 'Between the lyings.'
Between the sheets?
Mark Twain?
Interesting. This episode doesnt come with a warning. Dear YT I am an adult so do one with your big brother tactics.
Coppers investigating coppers no wonder nothing ever happens to them and never any justice for the victims …..real life .
Neil Pierson was quite the ladies 🚺 man back in the day.😉
He bedded some pigs on this show though. Hardly Sonny Crockett level women.
@@DCDPM loving the ladies...

I hate shows where the gpod guy always wins and the story is wrapped up in a neat little bow at the end. Real life isn't so straightforward.
The death of Sergeant Ross would be investigated and they may have heard that strange message DI Corbett left on his answering machine if he didn't delete it.
@@alwilfrid true… hope he left the tape for a good & decent cop to find!
@@alwilfrid Sadly I suspect the message will get mysteriously deleted.

But he IS screwing someone! 18:16
She wants everything........
