Love your videos, I enjoy the lack of nonsense. Your videos aren't bloated with unnecessary stuff but they're not too fast and short so you can follow.
Great recipe, but one big mistake. You mentioned 1.5 tablespoons, but it should definitely be 1.5 teaspoons of salt. I found this out the hard way lol. Other than that the recipe works perfect as long has you add teaspoon salt and not tablespoon. Thx again!
Just stumbled upon your channel (Cola video popped up for me). I'm glad you're still making videos. Going through your older ones right now. What better way to pass the time when confined than cooking? Thanks again.
Great video, but make sure to rinse your brown rice before cooking! It contains arsenic material and can cause great harm to you over time if not rinsed properly
Yo Im not interestet in rice BUT I'm so glad I found your channel, you got my likes/subscibtion and I'm gonna show this channel later on to every other people I know, thanks! One thing! I appreciate your respect for the viewer's intelligence! (No bright colors, arrows or muddling titles.)
You should never open the top while it’s still cooking cuz you basically made your rice soggy looking. Trust the process by letting the pot steam out before opening it. Another way to make sure it comes out right is to set it on the side and let it steam for another 5 min for a nice soft rice.
I usually put 1-4 ratio and wait for 40 minutes. I soak the rice for 30 minutes before rinsing it. Adding a few stars anise makes it get a pleasant flavour.
I've never made rice in rice cooker;-) is it any different? Made in rice cooker. Try not to take off lid the steam will keep rice moist and cook better try to use pot with clear glass lid;-)
My rice cooker was pretty bad, so the rice almost always came out mushy. Recently I have been using the instantpot for convenience, but the stove top rice has the best texture.
1.5 *TEASPOONS* of salt guys. Not Tablespoons. I just tried making this with 1.5tbsp of kosher salt and boyyyyy that cannot have been what the Flavor Lab guy used.
I like brown rice where I can use it, you need a little less to get full (because all of the extra fiber). However some dishes beg for white rice (sushi, biryani, Thai sticky rice) so I always keep some around for those dishes. Thanks for asking!
0:58 I don’t think that ratio is enough. Maybe 1:3 for brown rice. I’m about to do 1:6 and check after 35 minutes. I’ve done the 1:2 ratio with brown rice before, and my experience taught me that it just isn’t enough. By a lot. 2:22 that looks bad. That does not look fluffy. I suspect this was done incorrectly and you uploaded it anyway.

Yesssss I agree!!!
No nonsense? In that case, yeah. I'm going to hit that subscribe button right now

I would use a tablespoon of olive oil instead of salt or butter when I cook my brown rice.
Thank you, now I will be able to actually consume all this rice I bought for my bunker. You're a life saver my dude!
I followed everything you said and my brown rice came out perfect. Thank you. It was a big help.
Aww thank you!
It turned out great. Thanks for sharing 😊
Didn't know about that low heat. Thanks thanks a lot. I have a very physical job now and brown rice is good for what I call arrow power. Yang , man !
Thank you so much for keeping it short. I needed ONE obscure detail to answer my question.
This is about the only video that makes sense. Thank u so much
Thank you for the info on how to cook brown rice may God Bless 🙏
Wow! You made that nice and easy. I will try it tomorrow. Thanks so much!

Brown basmati 4 lyfe! 😋
Agreed the lack of nonsense is great! Do you need to use a pot with holes in the lid as you do in the video?

You made it look easy
Great Video! I love brown rice
Good vid mate I’ll give it a try.
Thank you this made it simple
Perfect!!

I did the two cups water to 1 cup rice and it was too wet. Maybe it depends on the Dutch you are using.
Thank you👍
Me before this video: ya know, crunchy rice aint that bad
Me after: wth was i doing
Were you flicking your hands so the camera lens didn't steam up? That was pretty funny.
Thx man!
Does the lid need to have holes??
Thanks!👍
Does this fix the terrible mushy texture?
For me it comes out better than the rice cooker
Could you please tell me how to do this in a rice cooker? It has never worked for me. Should i also put it on simmer at some point? Thanks!

❤❤❤
Question: do you narrate while you record, or do you do the voice over after? How do you eliminate background noise?
I record the video, then do a voiceover after. It would be too noisy to record the actual audio, plus I don't have a good microphone
idk why but i heard somewhere that brown rice works better with slightly less water like 1.75:1 water to rice ratio
also i doubt it matters, but I've always been taught to start with the rice in the pot and then bring to a boil
i transfer water from the kettle it starts boiling in 10 seconds lol then i put the rice and set the timer
This is also the perfect way to make sushi rice
Have you made a lot of sushi rice?
@@FlavorLab a couple of times.... but works really great and when you add some rice vinegar, the rice tastes pretty original
When you mentioned the ratio, did you mean 2:1 in volume or mass?
Volume
@@TheTrueWarlic oh ok, thanks
Yep, volume. Good question!
@@FlavorLab what does that mean im not native english Speaker
@@sleepyjoe445 It just means when you add 1 cup of rice, add 2 cups of water. You are not measuring the weight on a scale. Just fill a cup
How low do you put the temperature?
Half like 5 setting or lower?
I think I put the heat too low or didn’t allow the water to boil long enough cuz it didn’t absorb the water
I've never made rice in rice cooker;-) is it any different? Made in rice cooker. Try not to take off lid the steam will keep rice moist and cook better try to use pot with clear glass lid;-)
It's easier, and you don't have to adjust the heat on the stove or check it or anything.
My rice cooker was pretty bad, so the rice almost always came out mushy. Recently I have been using the instantpot for convenience, but the stove top rice has the best texture.
if you're in a hurry guys do the same measurements but with white rice, takes 10 minutes
Good point! Just be sure to thoroughly wash it!
1.5 *TEASPOONS* of salt guys. Not Tablespoons. I just tried making this with 1.5tbsp of kosher salt and boyyyyy that cannot have been what the Flavor Lab guy used.
who in the world would add 1.5 Tbsp. of salt?? Maybe a pinch, -1/4 tsp?. Total daily salt intake.
What's your take on brown vs white rice?
I personally think white rice is superior flavor wise but i eat brown rice because it is so nutritionally superior

I think I need more practice. Had to add another cup of water, one hour later I think I’m done.
Anybody else’s rice always come out to watery when they use the 2 to 1 ratio ?
why does he sound like amiel stanek from bon appetit
REST YOUR RICE after the 35mins
Make a pot edible for one of your videos, that would be the shit!
Second
damn people acctually dont know how to cook rice? been doing it since i was a kid
I didnt even know there is dedicated piece of kitchen device for cooking rice.
i am asian too so same lol
*brown rice! Not just plain white rice that’s easy
This is about brown rice. Anyone can cook white rice, but cook brown rice is tricky
Why are you watching this video then?
A rice cooker would be useful.
Salt = seasoning...oh nah
I forgot about putting something on top and it didn’t work 😂
first
I hope to god this is a sarcastic video
Why? I was gonna try to cook it as soon as I watched the video. What's wrong with it?
Asian people who grow up on Asia are laughing.
Why?
@@whatitisnt. i don't know either, this was long ago.lol
Wtf is this? In asian countries we cook rice like this daily basis. Lol this is stupid
So to 250g Rice 500g /ml water??
