Lyrics:
Well, someone told me yesterday
That when you throw your love away
You act as if you just don't care
You look as if you're going somewhere
But I just can't convince myself
I couldn't live with no one else
And I can only play that part
And sit and nurse my broken heart
So lonely
So lonely
So lonely
So lonely
So lonely
So lonely
So lonely
So lonely
So lonely
So lonely
So lonely
So lonely
Now no-one's knocked upon my door
For a thousand years, or more
All made up and nowhere to go
Welcome to this one man show
Just take a seat, they're always free
No surprise, no mystery
In this theatre that I call my soul
I always play the starring role
So lonely
So lonely
So lonely
So lonely
So lonely
So lonely
So lonely
So lonely
So lonely
So lonely
So lonely
So lonely
I feel lonely, I'm so lonely, I feel so low

Mee too! ;)*
nadia towarek nailed it.
I totally agree Nadia!
there's nothing wrong being lonely. no big deal. 🍻😁🤘🏻
Woah ain’t got time to be simpin’
One thing that stands out in Police music is Stewart Copeland's creative drumming and enthusiasm! Amazing Trio.
I just LOVE Stewart Copeland who reminds me so much of my crazy first ‘ real ‘ boyfriend !!!
His hi-hat rhythms have always been so unique.

I LOVE HIM!! Have since I was “single digits”. ❤
That drum beat to start ... still gives me chills, decades on ... Brilliant.
Stu Copeland is one of the best drummers to ever sit behind the kit in rock history. How many drummers are hired to do the soundtrack for a movie?!?! Stu was. The movie is called "Rumblefish". The man is so overlooked , it is crimilal and , why is that the case? Jesus Christ, the Police were a pretty popular band with a ton of hits.
Top 3 most innovative drummers IMO incredible band
This is one of the absolute best Police songs.
Hi I Recommend A song that's called 'The Bond Villain' By Robert Nix
Copeland still a great drummer no doubt about it. Anyone else agree.
Legit and not underrated
He's the shit!
Andy Summer is also one of best Guitarist.
Yeah he's amazing
Yep!
Still worth listening to after all these years real quality music will never die
Yes talent never dies

What if they tuned their guitars?
So love the interaction between Sting and Stuart, just cracked me up. Cheers
Hello Mr Kenny and everybody here, yes good music can never die. I remember when i was in Dublin in the 70 ies, i heard this music in the street from the music shop. I was a french student here to have a better english.
This video is genius. Also, this song will forever be one of my favorite songs on planet earth. It’s the happiest, bitter sweet jam they ever wrote.
This song will make you forget being lonely and make you happy. Brillant.
I can't believe this is 40 years old.
can't believe Im 50 years old, seems like this was released a week ago , being old sucks

Andy Summers honestly makes me wanna pick up the guitar, total legend
Totally underrated guitar player.
I had the BIGGEST crush on him as a teenager in the 80's, OMG. *swoon*
Stewart Copeland is the reason I started drumming! :D

Favourite song right here!!! The chorus towards the end really hits me everytime, its like I can feel underlying anger and I can feel my underlying anger and it feels so good
Imagine sitting on the subway, looking up, and seeing the Police singing a song.
This song, unlike its title, makes me feel good to be soo lonely with other like minded loners.

“All made up and no where to go, welcome to this one man show !” I felt that
The police have mastered the art of a mix of alternative and reggae. Truly phenomenal!
Stewart Copeland, in all of The Police videos, uses almost any surfaces to play his drumsticks on LOL...I guess he needs to be active.

Once he's got his drumsticks out ANY surface is fair game.
That's the cocain
Maybe he has ADHD
He has adhd i think
I love how this video is just them screwing around in public, sometimes simplicity, Walkie talkies and a couple of drumsticks are all you need for a solid video

@@mapuangames5847 And Hong Kong
And some synchronicity
Generally speaking, until the “Synchronicity” album The Police put more effort into their songs than their videos (something that can’t be said for a lot of modern acts)

Always and forever, thank you to Great Britain and the British people whose creativity, since the 1960s, has given the rest of the World hundreds of unique artists such as the Police and music of unparalleled beauty, quirkiness and atmosphere. What would our lives have been without British bands? Thank you from Sicily.
All of the very best music from from the UK. The list goes on and on from the 60s to now.
Benedetto,
Hello from Stratford upon Avon !!
My quintessentially English husband taught in Sicily MANY years ago and before I met him .This was one of the reasons I was attracted to him, cos he’s really far too vague and quiet for me, but I thought it was bloody exciting that he’d taken off for a year on his own.
He taught English in Ragusa for a year, and when the Sicilians wanted to insult him they yelled out ‘ Tedesco ‘ as in those days he had fair floppy hair !!
Of course, in those days he had to queue for hours to have a phone call put through to his mother ( no mobile phones clearly ! ).
He is quite a cultured bloke and still speaks a bit of ‘ Sicilian ‘ Italian.
Soon after we got married he inherited a bit of money and took me to Sicily- I HATED it!!
Not helped by the dreadful wet weather in the October when we visited after he’d assured me the weather would be mild !!
He’s never dared ask me to go back again, BUT he knew Casa Cuseni and Daphne Phelps who owned it through some family connection !
BUT, as I’m now very ill with cancer he asked me if I’d like to visit Casa Cuseni again as Daphne Phelps has now died and it’s a small exclusive hotel.
I said that would be very nice, as I did remember that Taormina was just beautiful.
Well, you can’t get in for love nor money, so that may be a non starter !!
Never been to Palermo ( home of the mafia ) but William has lots of slides etc of beautiful places like Agrigento which I’d like to visit.
Only met Daphne Phelps once when we visited her home, and the only real memory I have of that visit is a man being there who’d been in a nazi concentration camp and showed my the number tattooed on his arm.
I gather later on one occasion Dylan Thomas’s widow turned up at the house with her Italian lover and being a real drunk, nearly wrecked the place !!
I love mainland Italy and Italian food, but though I think the men are generally really gorgeous they all seem to be bonkers to me !!
Have comments on here re Dire Staits ‘ Walk of Life ‘ and the Palio in Siena and clearly the Italians ARE bloody bonkers !!
Ciao !
By the way, I have an A star in Italian GCSE from about 10 years ago, but tend to push my luck and ask for a ‘ sconto ‘ rather than ‘ il conto ‘ !!
Christine !!!
Oh yes. 😊
we would pay more attention to our own bands. I think that would be good
Stewart Copeland is American just FYI ☺
I love the Police and have since the 80s. Hands down one of many favorites. The music is seemingly timeless isn't it? Grateful to have it in my life. Aways brings a smile, no matter how slight, to my lips 👄

I was a 17 year old Canadian lad visiting the UK when this came out. Still my favorite Police song.
1978, the year that The Police exploded on to people's stereos, Sting and Stewart were 27 while Andy was 36.
Siempre escucho esta canción para no sentirme solo y me funciona🖐️😄
Videos like this and so many more of the late 70s/ early 80s are great snap shot of places and people going about their day to day stuff along with buildings etc that may well have been replaced or upgraded . Real time capsule stuff and of course including the awesome sounds!
This was when Rock ruled the world and random guitarists could climb up into turrets and solo freely in the midday Sun, to general consternación and bewilderment.
They were great, weren’t they?
Hong Kong when it was still controlled by the British!!
Bet no-one signed a release to be in this video
I'm 23 years old Japanese, I don't see those fonts of Japanese characters and the types of the trains now, yeah the music video is also iconic of this song for me.
The Police is one of the greatest bands of all time. Sting’s single career personally dosent hold a candle to the trio’s genius.
Yeah, I wish they had stayed together longer
Although, I like some of Sting's solo work - I have to agree that the stuff he made with the Police was just on a higher plain.
I tried to listen to a Sting solo cd in the car a little while ago, and there were some Police songs on there. They just felt so empty without Andy and Stewart though. The sound of the whole group is just so addictive, and Sting is fine on his own (my favorite example would be him backing on Money for Nothing--such a good song!), he just has only a third of the police spirit.
They can’t stand each other no more they did did a reunion tour like 11 years ago but that was it
@@brianpratts They aren't together as a band anymore, but I'm pretty sure they're all still on good terms with each other. They're all just doing solo stuff, and sadly I think it's going to stay that way.
This is my favorite Police song - LOVE IT! 👍

The Police were an English rock band formed in London in 1977. For most of their history the line-up consisted of primary songwriter Sting (lead vocals, bass guitar), Andy Summers (guitar) and Stewart Copeland (drums, percussion). The Police became globally popular in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Emerging in the British new wave scene, they played a style of rock influenced by punk, reggae, and jazz.
Their 1978 debut album, Outlandos d'Amour, reached No. 6 on the UK Albums Chart on the strength of the singles "Roxanne" and "Can't Stand Losing You". Their second album, Reggatta de Blanc (1979), became the first of four consecutive No. 1 studio albums in the UK and Australia; its first two singles, "Message in a Bottle" and "Walking on the Moon", became their first UK number ones. Their next two albums, Zenyatta Mondatta (1980) and Ghost in the Machine (1981), led to further critical and commercial success with two songs, "Don't Stand So Close to Me" and "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic", becoming UK number-one singles and Top 5 hits in other countries; the former album was their breakthrough into the US reaching number five on the US Billboard 200.
Their final studio album, Synchronicity (1983), was No. 1 in the UK, Canada, Australia, Italy and the US, selling over 8 million copies in the US. Its lead single, "Every Breath You Take", became their fifth UK number one, and only US number one. During this time, the band were considered one of the leaders of the Second British Invasion of the US; in 1983 Rolling Stone labelled them "the first British New Wave act to break through in America on a grand scale, and possibly the biggest band in the world. The Police disbanded in 1986, but reunited in early 2007 for a one-off world tour that ended in August 2008. They were the world's highest-earning musicians in 2008, due to their reunion tour, which was the highest-grossing tour of 2007.
The Police have sold over 75 million records, making them one of the best-selling bands of all time. The band won a number of music awards, including six Grammy Awards, two Brit Awards-winning Best British Group once, and an MTV Video Music Award. In 2003, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Four of their five studio albums appeared on Rolling Stone's list of the "500 Greatest Albums of All Time". The band were included among both Rolling Stone's and VH1's lists of the "100 Greatest Artists of All Time".

They say my generation is lucky, but we're doomed. You were the luckiest ones, living that time period, the transition between simplicity and progression. A soft spot that can't be repeated.
Stewart's such a goofy guy, seems like Andy was kind of the middle man to bridge both extremes (extroverted stewart to introverted sting)

Is Stewart The Guy with the drumsticks?
@@anthonypaulson3923 Yes, Stewart Copeland.
Huelogy yeah andy definitely seems like he was just kind of the bridge between the two! although i wouldn’t say stewart was extroverted, maybe just more kooky and high energy. u can see it in a lot of his solo work w klark kent he tended to have more of a sillier sound and stuff compared to stings more serious work. love both tho!!
What you described Josh perfectly describes what made The Police an amazing, and volatile, band.
