I lived in Japan for 3 years back in the day and Japanese people have high respect for foreigners who are willing to embrace their culture and learn more about it. I went so far as to learn the language and was once rather decent at it. I'm not as fluent as back then but can at the very least pick up on terms and words and follow a few minor conversations here and there. I used to know how to read Japanese but I have to admit I completely forgot and only remember a few characters and kanji/katakana here and there. I really miss living there but it was during my military days so it wasn't a permanent stay. Honestly looking back I could have made it more permanent but I wanted to travel around the world back then too (which I did) so I'm glad I took the time to enjoy one country I truly hold dear to my heart.
Wearing kimono is so much fun, you're even more blessed to have friends to enjoy it with.
This seemed like a good time, I'm jealous 🤭

You ladies looked soooooo beautiful in the Kimono 🥰 that pink really suits you and your undertone. I was planning on going to Kamakura for a day trip when I go to Japan in October. It’s gonna be a solo trip so idk how I’d do the Kimono rental by myself 😅 I’m a little nervous. But I may just do it anyway cuz why not? I wear a size 10 US show so I know those shoes aren’t gonna fit lol

Yes don't worry! got ry it hun. I've linked the website online. Perhaps try email to make the appointment ahead of time. Not sure how booking is because Sundai booked it for us 😆 as for shoe size, you may want to find some suitable zori (shoe's) or some kind of sandals that may be more comfortable. Someone commented that in Japanese culture it's okay to let your foot hang off them a bit, it's supposed to appear as more dainty? Anyway you don't know till you try 💖

This is so very similar to what I see in Korea with visitors wearing Hanbok. Koreans genuinely are receptive and welcoming and compliment those wearing Hanbok, it's only other foreigners that sometimes do a side eye. I think as long as you're being respectful of their culture and traditions they absolutely love sharing it with you. From what I have seen especially older people seem so proud when they see their traditional clothes worn and enjoyed in this way. From how you describe it, Japanese people seem very similar in that sense.
Absolutely, your description and experience of wearing Hanbok in Korea seems the same! You hit the nail on the head, showing respect and learning about the culture changes the intention entirely ! This was interesting ✨feel free to come back and share comparisons anytime 💕
There is a huge difference in how South Korea treat South east asian and black people. Japan, china and South Korea are completely different countries Foreigners immediately think of those countries as the same. You can literally say that the two countries have almost opposite personalities. People who are compatible with Japan are not compatible with Korea, and people who are compatible with Korea are not compatible with Japan.
