Hey, thank you! Those were great models and a lot more interesting to paint than classic space marines. We have a vintage Rune Priest and a Chaplain that I never got around painting back in the 90s. Those will definitely get their own videos in the future. Did you stay committed to Space Wolves?

Glad you like it. Usually, I am thinning the paint with the Vallejo airbrush thinner and a few drops of flow improver. For this mini though, I only used a bit of matt medium and some distilled water. Thinning ratio greatly depends of the paint range but even with paint formulated for airbrushing, I work with a thinner/paint ratio of about 3 to 1. For thicker paints like citadel of AK, the ratio can easily go to 6+ to 1. I work with very thin and transparent layers and systematically flash dry between each layer to achieve a very smooth finish. Hope this helps.

My first paint was in 96'. May have even been a MK1 helmet. I miss old 40K. Although maybe just nostalgia and missing being younger rather than the game differences.
Ah, the good old times (or the idea of it). I don't know about the game because I haven't played since 3rd or 4th edition but where today's models have gained in details and elegance (amazing to paint), they might have lost a bit of charm, goofiness and fun. I might revise this opinion next time I have to paint a twisted face on a vintage Warhammer minis.
Love your approach and insights, not to mention editing. I think the first marine I did was last year for a box game called Doomsday. It had three marines in it and they turned out pretty good. I did all the armour with airbrush before the rest so that makes them look better than I am at painting. 😅
Came in the hobby with the V3 around... 2000 i think. And started with Blood Angels. Just came back 2 years ago, still with BA. Nice paint, the fact you didn't use Metallic is cool. I would be curious to know what is your experience in painting cause, it looks awesomely incredible. BTW i checked (not finished, it's late right now) your other video, and was amused by your accent, so "tranché", No surprised by the fact you're french. And a Parisien one. It explains A LOT. Hi and cheers for the next videos, from a fellow french (But Nemesis Marseillais).
Super nice to see many French people commenting here and sharing their own story. Cheers to the accent that isn’t going anywhere, haha! So you did come back after a break also. Hope you’ll enjoy what’s coming to the channel.
I painted my first Assault Intercessor recently as well. I only had to strip the paint in an IPA bath twice. It's definitely a great idea to paint the parts first and glue them together later! I need to get the "proper" opaque paints though, the runny and easily reactivating Speedpaints are not really my cup of tea.
Which chapter did you paint it for? I used to scrap my miniatures over and over when I started painting because I was so obsessed with improving my skills. We had no Internet back then and had to figure out everything ourselves. 😆Totally agree on the paint, particularly if you are aiming to improve your skills.
@@ArtCoreMinis I'll be labeled a heretic for this but "the blue one, with red helmet" :D I was a little bit too inspired by @52miniatures, but trying to avoid being "infected" I bought just a single "Pose #3" sprue which I like a lot. A gun and a chainsword are such a great combination!
Great choice! Honestly, we all need a Papa Smurf on our shelves. 😆 There are many great color schemes but you can be sure that we’ll make a video painting an Ultramarine. @52Miniatures has a lot of very good content.
that's lovely! welcome back. if you haven't tried golden so flat paints i recommend them as well as their transparent and hi flo fluros. great paints and better value for your money than most mini paints ;)
That’s great! Remember that what matters the most is that you are enjoying the process. I remember painting my very first miniatures with enamel paint and the result was… well, not very good. 🤭 There’s no shortcut, we all get better with time and a lot of practice.
First miniature in 2 decades eh!.... but clearly a skilled artist. Might be useful to explain your background a little more so you don't plunge novices into depression when they expect this result but end up with something looking like a melted candle ;) Nice work
Hi , I am also very new to this hobby , coming from gundam where every thing was air brushed , I also mostly use the Vallejo air and model colour paints I had. I have a few citadel paints . I also am used to using tamiya paints . I would say for me Vallejo is my preferred. If you want to make your figures pose in a different way you can cut the arm poles and had thing off and glue it in any way you want .
Vallejo paints are usually very good, and we are looking forward to trying their new range. We used to live in Tokyo and were surrounded by Gundam models as they are easily the most popular kits over there. Never painted one though.
When it comes to paint brands, ignore what everyone says is "the best" or "what you should use". Your style is very likely quite different than theirs. I'd suggest just trying a couple of each brand, maybe a traditionally translucent color like a red or yellow and a traditionally opaque color like a dark green or blue - but, then, you probably know that. The brands I might suggest to try are, besides Vallejo and Citadel: Reaper, P3, Pro Acryl, Scale 75, Army Painter, and MIG. That covers a nice variety of some of the best brands. As for which Space Marines were my first... well, I bought the original release of Rogue Trader (First Edition) three days after it came out here in the US, so I've been painting Space Marines, Eldar, and such since the beginning.
I have a few (still unpainted) chaos renegades from 1988 (We showed a few in our first video) that to this day, are still some of my favorite miniatures. Otherwise, you did name some of the brands that we have in sight so, thank you very much for the advice. What are you painting at the moment?
@@ArtCoreMinis Nothing GW, actully. I've been painting mostly for either D&D, or for personal fun. I had a break, myself, from 2003 until 2018, because I lost all patience with the Warhammer games shifting from "Who is the best at playing the games" to "who is the best with a spreadsheet". Still have yet to go back to 40k, and probably never will.
@@Valandar2 that’s all good as there is so much choice of great models nowadays and the hobby is more diverse than ever for both gaming and painting. We’re looking forward to try our brushes on a variety of models.
Oh, Rogue Trader first Space Marines, those were really sweet. I hold dearly to my 1988 Chaos Renegades. 😁 Chaos was my first love and should be still the faction that I enjoy painting the most. Those Word Bearers are real nasty fellows. 🥹

Great job on the Intercessor! Nice to see you getting back into painting again :) This would be the first kind of space marine that I ever got to paint, back in 1995/1996 somewhere (and yes I agree that the amount of detail today is crazy compared to these old classics): taleofpainters.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Warhammer_40_000_2nd_Edition_Ultramarine_Retro_02.jpg I also have fond memories of painting pretty much a whole army of greenskins, with these miniatures being very common: taleofpainters.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/IMG_1532.jpg taleofpainters.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/IMG_1491.jpg
We just found this awesome comment stuck in limbo (held for review because of the links). Thank you so much for those kind words and for sharing those pieces of miniature history. Those Orks and Gretchins where amazing (It didn't matter back then that we had to paint dozens of identical models 😅).
@@ArtCoreMinis You could say that we just didn't know better ;) Painting tons of identical models was part of the foundation of Warhammer, waaaay before we even dreamed about 3D-printers. I did however get myself a few of those classic tin soldier packages, and in my youth ran these (out of scale) selfmade orcs of mordor as ork boyz for a while :P
haha, no, we didn't for sure. 3rd edition was a game changer in term of modularity (it made those plastic dark Eldar a little wonky and fragile though). Orks are one of those army that required to align so many miniatures on the battlefield that it wasn't the most budget friendly army and looking for alternative model was a good idea. I had that with Skavens in Warhammer Fantasy. 😅
The photo is actually as close as possible to the real color of the miniature (we would never falsely edit or enhance a photo). The issue comes from shooting the video on a flat Log profile and that I didn’t realize how far off the saturation was when color grading until we shot the thumbnail. Oh well… first time shooting miniature painting, we had to make a mistake. 😅
@@ArtCoreMinis Ah, I see! Well then, fair enough in that case, and a really good result! Normally these paints are not that bright, we have to use some "fosforescent" colors that are really absurd in saturation to achieve that.

Thank you very much for the appreciation. We are really just starting and there are still a lot to get right but we appreciate the kind words. I believe that this brush set is linked in the description but just in case, here’s the link for our main set. amzn.to/3ETUXvG
Hasent painted in 20 years *paints a mini worth at least 40*
Haha, thank you very much! Looking at your name, are you a cultist servant of the Omnissiah? 😁
Emperor's Children was my first "space marine" faction to paint. =P
Loving some Noise Marines. Favorite rock band ever!!!
Gorgeous! Great channel!
Ah, thank you! Really appreciated.
Love your approach and insights, not to mention editing.
I think the first marine I did was last year for a box game called Doomsday. It had three marines in it and they turned out pretty good. I did all the armour with airbrush before the rest so that makes them look better than I am at painting. 😅
Thank you very much for the praise. How's your experience with airbrushing? Is this something that you enjoy doing?
Favourite army next to Squats
Blood Angels have some of the best lore in my opinion. Such a marvelous bunch of tortures souls.
Hey, thank you very much for the recommendation! We’ll have a look at them.
Loved the video. Your technique is solid. My only critique would be that your red pallet leans a bit too much into the pink range for my taste.
Dude that was awesome 😎
Sorry for the late reply and thanks a lot!
Space Wolves were my first in 3rd Edition.
Sweet, I still have a few unpainted vintage Space Wolves that will get some love eventually. What are you collecting at the moment?
Great job!
Your painting is really good! I'm Subscribing!
Thank you very much for the kind words and for joining us.
Great painting job!
Glad you like it! Are you painting yourself?
...i try...
That’s great! Remember that what matters the most is that you are enjoying the process. I remember painting my very first miniatures with enamel paint and the result was… well, not very good. 🤭 There’s no shortcut, we all get better with time and a lot of practice.
you're right ... I enjoy it very much
First miniature in 2 decades eh!.... but clearly a skilled artist. Might be useful to explain your background a little more so you don't plunge novices into depression when they expect this result but end up with something looking like a melted candle ;) Nice work
Haha, thank you for the appreciation. We will definitely get to share more about us and our background in future videos. :)
@@ArtCoreMinis good luck and great video
@@ArtCoreMinis très bien je vais suivre ça !
Oh, and Vallejo Model Color and Game Color are not so much aimed at airbrush, and are nicely opaque. :D
RTB01 were the first marines i ever painted and it was also the Blood Angels. these days i have gone with another red faction. Word Bearers
Oh, Rogue Trader first Space Marines, those were really sweet. I hold dearly to my 1988 Chaos Renegades. 😁 Chaos was my first love and should be still the faction that I enjoy painting the most. Those Word Bearers are real nasty fellows. 🥹
Would you like a list of content creators to reach out to for future collars/discussions/etc?
That would be very nice, thank you! We would definitely love to get to know and exchange with other creators.
@@ArtCoreMinis can I send it to you in an email for convenience's sake?
Apologies, your reply got lost in a wave of RUclips notifications. You can find our email address right in the channel's About section. Thank you! 😊
@@ArtCoreMinis I sent you an email yesterday; did you see it?
Just found it! It is quite the list that you sent us. There's bound to be a lot of them that we don't know yet. Thanks, really appreciated.
My very first model wasn't very long ago I started about 2 years ago and it was a librarian dreadnought
That’s a pretty awesome kit to get started into the hobby. Which chapter did you choose?
I am surprised that you only have 174 subscribers
174 subscribers is pretty damn good for a channel with only 2 videos
Thank you! We are happy with the 219 people that managed to find us at the time of this reply. We just started and hopefully, we'll get to share our work with more people. 😊
Ah, thank you! Glad some people enjoy what we've been making so far.
@@retnuHDJtrue but the editing style made me think that he has way more subscribers
@@justaguy8446 Understandable! I'm sure their subscriber count will continue to grow, it's deserved :)
Youre accent is véri véri francais 😊!
Indide, itise ! 🥖🍷
Je renifle un (charmant) accent Français à 200km. Très jolie figurine.
Haha, oui. Merci beaucoup!
dank.
Cuanto mide esa mini?
This is a classic 28mm Warhammer 40K scale. Well, the base itself is 32mm. 😊
Ultramarines were the first
Never painted one. It's about to change soon I believe. 😁
À un français :)
Merci
are u french ?
Yes I am! What about you? Where are you from? 😊
on dirait un accent français
Absolument! 😉
Great job on the Intercessor! Nice to see you getting back into painting again :)
This would be the first kind of space marine that I ever got to paint, back in 1995/1996 somewhere (and yes I agree that the amount of detail today is crazy compared to these old classics):

I also have fond memories of painting pretty much a whole army of greenskins, with these miniatures being very common:

Congratulations, it turned real good, but, I don't appreciate the HEAVILY saturated edited thumbnail, that was very misleading.
