I should've spread more awareness about the Winnie the pooh movie. The distribution company of this movie makes tons of movies that are just like this when it comes to the acting, quality, and stories. This time, they just included Winnie the pooh. I wasn’t surprised when I saw all the hate. I wish more people realized this.

Holy shit, Jagged Edge actually responded to all this? Jesus Christ, they gotta take criticism. I personally found Blood and Honey entertaining, but that's because I've set the bar so low for them in particular that it looked like a masterpiece compared to all their other films. But let's be real: if movies like Terrifier, Blair Witch Project, and the Evil Dead films can be awesome on small budgets, then you have NO EXCUSE. It's not that expensive to get a decent camera, or audio equipment. Make a better fucking movie.
Oh, speaking of that embarassing company's track record, shortly after I saw BaH in the theaters, I found myself watching one their horror movie sequels that came out last year called The Cult Of Humpty Dumpty. If you wanna go down that rabbit hole, have at it, but it lowered my expectations even more for the studio than they already were. There's a reason why I say Pooh is the best one they've ever made.

Obligatory Cape Feare reference: "BART-DO-YOU-WANT TO-SEE-MY-NEW-CHAINSAW-AND-HOCKEY-MASK?"
Now with that out of the way a couple of things: 1.Damn the Winnie the Pooh slasher isn't even a play on the characters? that's super lame and acting like that on twitter is extremely cringe.
    2. Look the Percy Jackson movies sucks but it has Alexandra Daddario so you take what you can.
    3. Did you ever watch Ringu (the original Japanese version)? I always found it more coherent in it's symbolism then the Hollywood version...

After watching the way the creators of B&H came for Cody, I decided not to even give this a view once it streams for free. Like. Who does that to a reviewer? To be honest, the trailer just made me think it was hillbillies dressed as Winnie the Poo and Piglet, but clearly they were going for the characters being real and failed. So. Sorry. Pass.
I feel like February had a lot of movies that almost made it but crashed the landing.
I did just rewatch Ready or Not. It's still amazing.

Cape Fear is good and DeNiro and Juliette Lewis were great too.. but I'd highly recommend Taxi Driver if you haven't seen it, it's definitely the best Scorsese/DeNiro collab IMO, certified classic and also has Jodie Foster.. Goodfellas is technically my favorite collab and one of the best films ever, but Ray Liotta, Lorraine Bracco and Joe Pesci are even better than DeNiro in that film IMO.. but Taxi Driver is a must see..

That Antiviral review was so cool Kylie! That made me so happy! The idea of taking pieces of the actress was a great observation. I think I felt that while watching it but my internet started acting up during the last five minutes and it was really distracting. I did finish it though!
We Have A Ghost was a 3 and a half star for me. 3 star movie and the half for the kid who played Kevin. He did a good job. Glad I watched but in no hurry to watch it again. And David Harbour's ghost design isn't very good overall. I'm a big character design person.

I firmly disagree about as above so below. Ive watched it quite a few times and those threads it sets up are paided off. They are all set up as extremely flawed characters with some really dark shit in their past they havent attoned for. They payed that off in spades as they decend to the lower rings of dantes inferno. And the ending realization that only through rectification of their past sins and guilts can they leave hell. I love to hear discussion, but your summary had me questioning if we saw the same Film

Oh boy nothin like a nice recap! Plenty of overlaps but got some recs as well, so thank you for that!
Saw the first 3 seasons of You, yeah I can’t imagine them continuing without Love, it’s like It’s Always Sunny without Danny DeVito.
On the note of finishing Arrested Development- you might want to check out Community after! Dan Harmon (Rick + Morty showrunner) is showrunner for most of it and it has Donald Glover and a ton of amazing guest stars. It’s meta and weird like Arrested Development as well, kinda like the Scream of sitcoms.
On the note of Poker Face- interesting point about Natasha Lyonne. Love her in Russian Doll and like everything so I’m partial to her effortless vibe. I’ve only seen the first one so far but I was believing her performance. Though I did feel like I expected her character to evolve a bit personality wise over the course of the series.
Banshees is great, Aftersun is another great sad Irish Oscar season flick.
Lmao late on the Titanic hype train but yeah it totally turns into a horror movie! James Cameron was married to Katheryn Bigelow the man loves strong women
I do feel you on All Quiet On the Western Front, most a war movie guy but the message was on point. The character exploration and story was amazing, you nailed it, I totally agree! The gore is gnaaaaarly but says so much about humanity and how little we’ve changed.
Percy Jackson lmaooo loved those books and was so disappointed by the movies, they tried to jump on the Harry Potter hype train and it wasn’t the vibe
Apparently a series is coming out on Disney+ soon.
TAR is a class act. You’ve been crushin the Q+A game! Benefits of LA livin.
Been having a tough time tracking down the Oscar shorts, it’s nice that ya got to see em all together. Might seek out the notable ones.
The Flying Sailor- “his lil willie is out” lmao Sounds like an interesting story though.
The Red Suitcase sounds heavy, I’ll have to find that one, the Sailor, and The Ice Merchants.
Oh the Ostrich one sounds fun. And My Year of Dicks haha. Wow, high praise!!
Aftersun was directed by Charlotte Wells and was totally snubbed for best director. Never enough female directors!!
Emperor’s New Groove hahah the classic
80 for Brady lmaoo old lady humor sounds fun if you’re wine drunk
As Above So Below is such a cool concept. So close, that is the worst kind of bad movie but sometimes the vibe.
Ooh changing feelings about The Ring, love the evolution! Though horses are said to symbolize death/freedom/independence and all sorts of different stuff in dreams so there could be something substantial there. White horse is death (death rides a pale horse as the story goes) Makes sense if you don’t think about it.
Curious what you’d think of a revisit of Ready or Not. Recently watched for the first time and Samara’s performance is amazing.
High praise for Cape Fear- Scorsese has some great rocks with some dark dark content, still have to get around to this one.
The Love Witch 😍 yes, love your take on it!! All about the vibes. And awesome bts stuff!!! Super indie auteur vibes from Anna Biller.
Def by Temptation is on my list. I enjoy a well-executed blaxploitation movie.
Antiviral is on my list. Those Cronenbergs sure do make some disturbing yet great flicks.
    Lol SyFy original movies.
But yeah on a not funny note, so many fukd contracts in Hollywood. Our horror icons should be getting back end points and making bank! They bring the audiences!!
Yeah I love me some Winnie the Pooh but from the lack of creativity to the rude social media response, Jagged Edge Productions sounds mighty corny. Not every indie horror film is good hahah
Love the way you talked about budgeting and honesty. You don’t have to take criticism personally!
Yeah weird that The Outwaters is lumped in with Skinamarink! Felt way less thought out and intentional. Yeah wasn’t bad enough to be so bad it’s good. Needs a good edit.
We Have a Ghost is #1- why am I surprised? Some AI generated type beat. So many good actors too, such a bummer.
Yeah Harbour can be so funny. He could’ve been funny without talking if he was more physical with his performance. Netflix seemed to drop the ball on this one. Love a good Danny Elfman vibe!
Yes, let’s blame the soul sucking corporation hahah
Other stuff I saw this month:
Somebody I Used to Know - solid subversive rom-com co-written by and starring Alison Brie from Community (Danny Pudi aka Abed is in it too!) Surprisingly fun and subversive rom com. I enjoyed it.
Watched Hitchcock’s Spellbound- has a dream sequence that was a collab with Salvador Dali and stars Ingrid Bergman as a psychologist and Gregory Peck as a maybe doctor-turned-patient. Solid flick, I think it’s the earliest film to have a psychological consultant.
Puss in Boots: the Last Wish is unironically amazing.
Plan 9 from Outer Space is a classic so-bad-it’s-good movie worth a watch.
My Own Private Idaho is a story of a narcoleptic hustler played by River Phoenix and his hustler bud played by Keanu Reeves, it’s like a indie Shakespearean artsy dreamy film that explores identity, autonomy, sexuality, unrequited love, and companionship. Really amazing style too. From Gus Van Sant ( dir. of Good will Hunting). Rewatch for me. The campfire scene is brutal.
Rewatched Aftersun- amazing amazing amazing and sad. Really well done. Maybe the best directed film of 2022 imo.
Buffet Froid (1979) wacky French dark comedy that deals with murder with a surreal comedic approach that just hit the spot for me.
Belle de Jour (1967)- amazing dreamy exploration of desire, fantasy, consequences, identity, and daydreams. Amazing early female lead too. From Luis Buñuel, one of the earliest surrealist filmmakers.
My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done? dir. Werner Herzog (2009) - incredible surreal true crime story. The style is so weird in all the best ways. And the story it surprisingly accurate. Though of course they stretch certain aspects for dramatic effect. Also has Michael Shannon and Chloë Sevigny. Love it.
Being There dir. Hal Ashby starring Peter Sellers as an uneducated estate gardener who goes out into the world for the first time and ends up becoming like an icon haha. Very zen story.
Mirror (1975) dir. Andrew Tarkovsky. Absolutely masterful. Poetry on film.
Re-watched Lost Highway, one of my favorites from David Lynch. Very dark, very weird, driving fast on a dark road having an identity crisis type beat. Has Bill Pullman and Patricia Arquette (who plays 2 roles).
Also re-watched Tarsem Singh’s The Cell with J-Lo and Vince Vaughn going into serial killer Vincent D’Onofrio’s head to find his missing latest victim. Art department went iiiiiiiiin on this one. Amazing pd/costumes/visuals in general.
I have a what I watched in feb/jan I’ll be dropping tomorrow if any cult members are interested! got some weird picks, watched like maybe 30 something movies in February?? Had a lot of free time lol.

Sea of Monsters, the sequel to the Lightning Thief, is their attempt at damage control. They made so many mistakes in the first movie that they tried to fix in the sequel. I dunno how much you know about the books, but...
    They made Annabeth blonde
    They added Clarisse and Dionysis
They had to make Mist exist
    They introduced the main prophecy
    They talked about Thalia
And even still, they fuck up so much more in the process. I'm eagerly awaiting the Disney+ show.

Lmao at whiny filmmakers whining about Cody Leach’s review. Cody always speaks from the heart.
Also, lots of great movies. Cape Fear made me angry. De Niro’s character had a victim complex that enraged me.

I watched a lot of DC's older movies like Superman: The Movie, Superman II: The Donner Cut, Batman 1989, and The Dark Knight Trilogy because I miss when DC made good films the Snyder films ruined their reputation Zack Snyder in my opinion didn't deserve Henry Cavill or Ben Affleck they deserved way better than Zack Snyder the character of Superman is literally a perfect role for Henry Cavill he's the most kind hearted wholesome superhero and they just wasted Henry's time by having play a dark and edgy Superman which does not fit Superman at all that's more Batman I don't know February was really when I started to hate superhero movies and started focusing more on Horror and Action movies I watched The Conjuring films and I fell in love with them I hope they make more they are really good I watched Sinister also a great film it scared the hell out of me and for action films I watched all the Indiana Jones films the fourth one is not that bad and that's pretty much all I watched in February movie wise I also finished Smallville great show highly recommend it

Love the video as always thank you for your hard work and dedication Haunted Hippie.
wow this is crazy what happened with Cody and the Winnie The Poo guys I agree this must have realized what Cody said was right and had weight. They clearly knew people would by tickets just to see the movie as people hoped for something really balls to the walls stupid and or inventive and I've not seen this yet as not out in UK but sounds they didn't get it.
I watched Cocaine Bear last night it was really really fun and the humor had most of the cinema in stitches in the UK lol so.. not sure it was only because what you said lol. This was a fun time and had some gory moments I think id have preferred a little more gore but it did what it needed too was a wild ride.
I loved Knock at The Cabin and I'm not an M Night fan at all, thought Dave Bautista was incredible and also Jonathan Groff too.

I noticed that people seem to have that attitude towards many indie genre films, that we almost have a duty to support indie films off the simple fact that they are indie :/

I'm just dying over here and I need, desperately need, to make my friends watch this as a display of my not so easy to understand neurodiverse humor. Like. Holy fucking shit I'm laughing at every single one of your intros more maniacally than the protagonist of John Carpenters In the mouth of madness at the end. It's just comedy gold!

My partner watched We Have A Ghost and said it was really good, I wasn't convinced so he tried to explain the plot to me, but got confused when trying to explain it, I was like 'are you sure it was good?' And yeah, he's now not so sure. I won't be watching it 😆

Totally agree with you on We Have A Ghost! It was too long and I almost turned it off during the government, it made no sense to me!! I liked the beginning and the end so if they could have removed the entire middle hour and a half and replaced it with like 30 minutes of something that made sense between the beginning and the end, they really could have made this a cute and funny film!
Also I love horror but refuse to watch war movies!! Its the whole knowledge that it all actually happened gives me panic attacks!!

RE: the PooPooing over Pooh; it seems that the fact that you dare critique an already-in-the-making cult film AND be a woman - gatekeepers are going to gatekeep. It’s annoying. Twitter is toxic.

  • @cashthecurator666
    @cashthecurator666 Год назад +2

I'm still dying to see Cocaine Bear, haha. As for Blood and Honey, what I've seen of it is horrendous, I am talking Art the Clown poop levels of horrible. What's worse is that this could have been an interesting premise. Like, what if Pooh and Piglet weren't trying to kill Christopher Robin, but they saw him get murdered and were trying to avenge his death? Maybe Pooh could even be guided by hallucinations of Christopher Robin ordering Pooh to avenge him. I know that's really similar to Friday the 13th, but I think it'd be more interesting than this crap. As for the director's reaction, I just gotta laugh. The fact that you directed an independent movie in 8 days on a few thousand dollar budget ain't an excuse, good sir. Halloween from 1978 had a budget of 300,00 dollars, and that movie turned out great. As for how much time it took to film, Steven Spielberg had a ridiculous amount of delays while he was filming Jaws. Rhys Frake-Waterfield doesn't have any excuse for his movie being so stinky, he's probably just offended that Cody caught on to the fact that he really didn't give a shit about this movie at all. And besides, the concept of Winnie the Pooh being a killer? Not original anyway, because the Internet has a lot of stories portraying childhood icons as evil. Look at the My Little Pony Creepypasta Cupcakes, for instance, or the Bikini Bottom Horror. Basically, this movie is a failure on every single level imaginable, and the director's inability to accept criticism is just the icing on the cake. Speaking of which, I could go for some cake! Can we have some at the next cult meeting, please?

Blood and Honey could’ve been the worst movie in the world and I wouldnt have cared; I still wouldve checked it out when it floated over to streaming because it sounds SO dumb.
… But then the filmmakers had to go and be Butts. So they can go pound sand as far as Im concerned. Compare to Skinamarink, which Ive seen several times and do not like, lol… but the people behind it seem so chill and down-to-earth, appreciative of fans, humble, etc. that Ill watch it strictly to drive up view counts.
But Im a Haunted Hippie Patron/cultist. The Blood and Honey people went after your friend in a gggrroossssss way. So, idk, eff’em, like, forever? (Yes Im referring to Cody Leach as “your friend” as if I didnt know who he was).
Yeah, so… Those people made a Winnie the Pooh slasher movie and they take themselves that seriously? I would almost believe they were trolling but their comment was so … earnest. Like they sounded genuinely hurt. And Cody didn’t even say anything, like, *too* bad…
Anyway, as Tom Segura would say….they can change my diaper.
