I remember Plaid Stamps. They were from the A&P Grocery store. You pasted them in a book and also got a nice prize. I loved pasting those plaid stamps in my mom"s book. We got some beautiful prizes. That is a beautiful memory for me. God Bless you Brenda, love you 🙏❤️. Camille from New York, N. Y.
Good morning Ms. Brenda...just wanted to tell you my mom would save the green stamps for many years and when I was planning our wedding.. my mom cashed in her stamps and bought us a beautiful set of silverware for a gift...I was so excited that you were chatting about this subject...it brought me back to living home with my parents on the farm in Goodland, Indiana...❤❤❤😊
I had a German shepherd and loved her she was so nice to me I raised her from a puppy of 6 weeks old she'd watch over me if I'd go in another room she'd follow me until I'd come back in the front room and sit in my chair she'd lay beside me and it her head on my lap. She was so nice loved her so much she got hit by a truck and she died. I cried for a long time I was hurt cause my daughter let her out I'd always chain her up so she'd stay and not go away or in our busy road. I was kinda upset with her til she said how sorry she was that she didn't take the time to chain her so she'd stay in the back yard I felt so sad you get so close to your pets and it's sad to see them gone and it hurt so bad
I remember licking those stamps as a little girl and putting them on the cards. We had a booklet that showed us what our stamps could buy . The first stamps I remember were green then as I got older they changed them to gold stamps but we always called them green stamps. I remember looking in the catalog and hoping Mama would get certain things I liked but usually she got the practical things that we needed which I thought was just fine. I remember they actually had a physical store where you could go and take your green stamps in to get whatever it was that you wanted to get with them. I had a lot of fun putting those stamps on the cards and counting them to see what we could redeem them for at the green stamp store! That was back in the day when kids didn’t get things everyday and that you were taught to save up your money or those stamps for things that you wanted to get . It taught us how to learn to be patient and showed us what things were worth and taught us how to be disciplined by putting those stamps on the cards and to save them up and to not loose them . They really helped teach us a lot of things as kids especially without us even realizing it and it was fun to us .
Yes ..my mom and I used to use the stamps like you too..remember sticking them in the book to try to fill the pages up 🤗🤗🤗💜miss Brenda..those are probably worth $$$to a collector
I recall that every evening on our way upstairs to bed my little sister and I said goodnight to our parents with a little kiss on their cheek. We did that every night and we thought nothing of it and it was as natural as breathing to us. We also did it on our way out the door to school every morning. To this day I love hugging my parents when we are saying by by. I think it's very special to caress mummy and daddy i couldn't imagine not bidding them farewell without an embrace I feel lucky to have had the relationship we did with our parents
i didnt like licking all those stamps so Grandma got me a wet sponge & I just gently slip my stamp's across that sponge & it was fun to fill Auntie & Grandm'as Books📗
Yes, Brenda I do remember the S.H. green stamps. Mom collected enough books to order five t.v. trays for each of us. As the trays that were made out of metal wore out, my dad painted 🎨 pictures on the trays. Great Memories. From Pam Crippen from Columbus, Indiana. Bye-bye.
I see you on U-Tube I'm in Manning, SC. Really enjoy following you. Feels like we are visiting. And, "that's a good thing." S/H Stamps...some just required 1 stamp (big $5 stamp) ;others took another size. (good memories).
There was also yellow stamps by some company. I used to save both the green and yellow. My grandmother and mother saved them for me and before I got married in 1967 I got all kinds of good stuff. I continued to save them for quite some time after that. I agree with you that it was a brown recluse spider that bite her. The skin will slough off and it’s painful. It sounds like a spider bite,
Ms Brenda, now you can get your pictures made into "photo books" and doesn't cost too much. Great gifts for children, grandchildren, even you and your husband. Make great Christmas, even birthday gifts!
