- Before y'all start commenting about the spelling error, these boards are actually called Freebords, no A. We found these searching the internet for "weird boards". Turns out this company is in SF and we had some of their pro riders come up and make this video with us. Let me know what you think!

Freeborders always wear helmets. The community gives you shit if you uplode vids without a helmet and that is a good thing. Sometimes you just cant get out of the bindings for a controlled bail

Should have done this video on a hill. Would have shown what the board is capable of a lot better.
Surf Ninja I think this made sense for the video. They showed a bit of footage on a hill to demonstrate, but the point of this vid was tricks and stuff. You can't very well flair a freeboard on a hill.
@@randomhero2480 Same! It took me a while to get the hang of mine even as someone who had skated and snowboarded for years. It rides a whole lot like a snowboard, which is just crazy to me and feels so bizarre in the street. My friends and I used to just go out when it was pretty late in my neighborhood, where not too many people live, to practice and learn on it. Once you get the hang of it and learn to stop catching a front or backside edge when you're turning or sliding it's so much fun. The whole 'always having to keep one edge down', which I guess is a lot like a snowboard really, was the weirdest part for me. Then when you go from one edge to the other and are briefly just on the 2 middle wheels can be terrifying for a split second, especially if you start to spin when you didn't mean to. I'm with you on the whole "they're dangerous enough already" thing. When I first got on it I thought I was going to die. Even once I got good at it, a little slip up or your foot moves the wrong way and you're sliding face first down the street....

@@odawgie6847 actually, alot of videos of the videos of the guys doing inverted tricks are on a closed off hill with a ramp involved. ALSO, this ain't bmx, that's what we call a fs rodeo on a freebord as what it's called for snowboarding.

in all my life I've never had a more accurate description of my mental health
They're fun as hell is what they are! I got one when I was just about to graduate high school like 8 or 9 years ago and it feels as close to snowboarding as you can get without the snow, in my opinion. It carves and slides just like a snowboard, and you have to maintain an edge just like on a snowboard or you can hardly control it. They're a realllllly cool combination between snowboarding and skating. I absolutely loved mine. I still have it back it my parents house, I ought to go find it. There's definitely a pretty steep learning curve for them though.. It would be damn tough to "master" it in one day. It took me a while to get comfortable enough to actually carve, slide, spin, and all that stuff and I used to snowboard and skate. Once you figure it all out they're so much fun. They're the most fun on hills that are fairly mellow, but still steep enough to get some good speed. When you're learning on hills, unless you're really familiar with snowboarding, you WILL catch your front or rear edge (wheels) and land on your face or back at least a few times...so wear a helmet kids (and adults) if you get one of these! And start out on really mellow hills and make sure you've got the hang of it before you try to bomb some massive hill on it otherwise I nearly guarantee you will find out what the ground tastes like. They're not really made to like "push off" like a skateboard, but moreso to let gravity and speed be your friend like a snowboard.

Freebords are sick, got one for Christmas and been having a blast with hill riding and stuff. Feels like actual snowboarding it’s a trip
But how do you stop tho - I mean if you're bombing a hill on a longboard you can do a powerslide to stop abruptly or slow down, but since freeboards rolls sideways too, how do you stop ?
Literally the power slide heel or toe breaking is how you stop. It is a lot scarier stopping than on an actual snowboard because falling hurts a crap ton more

Heel and toe braking is basically where you lean on your heels or toes to brake and you turn your whole body facing down the hill or up the hill depending on if you lean heels or toes and it’ll brake it’ll slide sideways

I'm so happy to see Freebord back on the Braille channel. I love these boards and have been riding them for 15 years now. I remember when we had metal bindings. lol. Hope to see more of Freebord on this channel.
I have those old school bindings still...they are almost preferred over the s2 bindings...but whatever...

Bought a board like this in the late 90's from F.A.O. Schwartz, it had no bindings though and three weren't enough hills in my area did I ended up taking it back... Was pretty sweet though
