- A sense of humor is a must! This is a fun, easy sewing tutorial on how to upcycle a flannel shirt. I will be showing lots of ideas on one shirt. You can just do one technique or do them all and create a one of a kind piece of wearable art! The focal point of this piece is the wacky little critter on the center of the backside. She is whimsical and unique, made with fun fabric scraps, trims, buttons, yarn hair, embroidery thread and more. I sold lots of items with fun characters and people just love them. Why not, they make you and others around you smile and who doesn't love that. This will video will show you how to bleach a flannel, create lettering from fringes and trims, and create patchwork designs from scraps and lace. Whether you create for yourself, make as a gift or just want a fun arts and craft project, I think you will find this a fun, easy to understand diy tutorial.

I love your doll and bleach dyeing . I use a glue stick to stick things down like your doll, you add bits underneath easily too . then free motion all over. Free motion is great for this stuff bc you can be wonky as like 😮 .... great for beginners . I must get my flanny shirt out I bought last year to do this , you’ve nspured me to get moving ...

I buy ugly pillows at Goodwill wash and dry them then use their stuffing. I also get a lot of my quilt material at Goodwill. On three different shopping sprees I have found over 4 yards of unused fabric. I love Goodwill and thrift stores. Thankyou for your videos.

@@tmyershandmade978 I was wondering if you used to make things like table runners. Your creativity with the doll was so interesting I was wondering if you ever do stuff like this with geometric figures (actually, the doll had some interesting geometric shapes). I love 'free-flow' modernistic design. I imagine you could make the coolest unique table runners. I wouldn't ask you to do something you don't usually do because you probably have enough videos to make with what you are comfortable with but I am so bad when it comes to the artistry part... I am not real good at it until I see someone else do it then I get inspired. I'm pretty good at sewing from the 'technical' side of it...but the 'left' side of my brain is a bit 'sleepy' Thanks

You can put heavier thread through your bobbin and the stitches like for the mouth will will show well but you have to sew it so that your “mouth” is on the the under side as you sew. You may have to mess with bobbin tension. I use a vintage machine with a spare bobbin case for heavy thread and leave it for heavy thread - then change that bobbin case out for finer thread in another bobbin case

Have you ever tried using freezer paper? You can iron it on your fabric and pull it off after you cut it out. But maybe tracing is just easier for you. ❤️❤️❤️
