Dude they got their own country for their own just 70 years ago. Tolerance was one sided from start. It is one of the features of polytheistic culture. Different views are respected. But monotheist religions like Christianity and Islam don't believe in tolerance. They think only there god is true god. Christians say only Jesus can save you, the only savior. Muslims say there is no god but allah. Can you really believe you, from polytheistic cultures, can live with such bigoted cultures in long run? Polytheists will always loose as it has happened in entire world. Be it North America, South America, Africa, Australia, in Europe, Iran, Middle east. All these places were populated by pagans, polytheists but were overrun by abrahmists. They couldn't fully defeat Hindus and Chinese. We, polytheists peoples, should accept this fact and devise defense mechanism in their culture. If we dont do it our way of life will be erased from face of earth. They will only exist in books. Hindus need to think for long run.

A major mistake is how you drew the Jewish migration as ending in Mumbai. They came to Kerala first before anywhere else in India. So did Christians and Muslims. In fact, Kerala has India's oldest church, synagogue, and mosque. You left those out. :)

I think you have mistaken tolerance with religious tolerance. Also just NOT-KILLING-SOMEONE doesn't mean you are tolerant.
Fist of all Indian cast system is a huge mess, the untouchable casts had been a target of humiliation and violence for small offences, as small as entering place of worships.
Getting married or loving someone out of case had been and is being punished by death in in India.
Windows in India were treated as curse. They were not allowed to marry again and live their lives in misery. Some of them were burned alive after death of their husband.
India didn't even had a good score in religious tolerance. Processing a cow for meat is a crime punishable by death in India even in 22nd century. Speaking against the teaching of hindu religion out you in a huge danger of being killed by a mob. According to some reports, Muslims are treated even worse than untouchables unless they are rich or famous in India. Many muslim officers in Indian army are refused promotion because of their religion. The incident of gujrat is also a big example of religious intollerence in India.
