I recently started an adult beginning ballet class a while ago and have trouble comprehending things in class sometimes (virtually no prior dance experience here), and this video really helped a lot! Thank you for breaking it down and taking it slow, was such a big help.
same here. Wonderful to see a man giving it a go. I never ever thought I would be in a ballet class, but I love it. It is like saying hello to my body after a lifetime of pen and paper.
This was literally the step I kept messing up in class today 😂 But now I have a fantastic video to practice from until my next class, thank you so much ☺️
You're so welcome! If you need another angle, I taught it again from the back view here: ruclips.net/video/BZNaVdwdKFI/видео.html Good luck and happy dancing! :)
Thank you! My teachers always just tell us to do a certain move and I don’t always know how to do it, but everyone else knows already so I’m too shy to say anything most of the time😭. These vids rlly help!
If you haven't already, check out the updated version of this video with the back view of this step! ruclips.net/video/BZNaVdwdKFI/видео.html You'll get it, keep going, keep practicing! :)
PLEASE INTERVIEW MORE older people 40s, 50s, and 60s + who have re-started ballet! The questions I’m interested are: what was it like in their body to begin again? How did they acclimate to the movements of ballet at an older age? Did they have trouble with anything in particular? How did they overcome it? And what has dancing done for them now, emotionally and physically? (I’ve only seen you do this one time on one video:… as interesting as her life stories was, it’s hard to find time to listen to all of that. Hearing about their Ballet journey is more important!) Thank you, Julie!
Thank you Julie! I feel a lot more confident about waltz turns now. I just practiced the first part so far and just watched the rest. I am going to practice the rest of what I learned in the video and see how I improve.
The initial ‘brush’ is en avant (forwards) whereas the second ‘brush’ is en arrière (backwards) and using the other leg. (If you rolled up the cuff of one leg of your leggings to expose one shin, then the change of feet and the direction of brush would be more obvious perhaps.)
The initial turn is AWAY from the brushing leg, whereas the second turn is TOWARDS the brushing leg. That’s why beginners can get confused... verbal explanations need to identify distinct differences (different leg, different turn direction, different brush direction) which are not immediately obvious visually).
It's such a tricky step! Check out our updated video with a back view to make it a lot simpler to follow along! ruclips.net/video/BZNaVdwdKFI/видео.html

That is exactly why I am here! The rest of the class seemed to pick it right up, and I couldn't figure it out to save my life!
TY I LITTERLY CAN NOT DO THIS IN BALLET CLASS AND ALWAYS EMBARRASS MYSELF!!

Barbara Beaver you’re welcome! The footwork can definitely be tricky! :)

Thank you for your clear demonstration!!!
Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for watching ❤️

What a great tutorial. Really clear explanation. Wish I had discovered this a few years ago. Subscribed!

Thank you!!! This was so helpful!
Awesome, so glad to hear it! :) Happy dancing!
What are the other two ways you announced you would demonstrate / explain, I wonder.
Check out the updated video! ruclips.net/video/BZNaVdwdKFI/видео.html
Teacher, thank u for the clear demonstrations...can u also add back views too!?
We're still working on the logistics of filming back views, but will do one as soon as we can! Thanks for the request! :)
The initial ‘brush’ is en avant (forwards)
whereas
the second ‘brush’ is en arrière (backwards) and using the other leg.
(If you rolled up the cuff of one leg of your leggings to expose one shin, then the change of feet and the direction of brush would be more obvious perhaps.)
Definitely check out the updated version from the back view which is way easier to follow! :) ruclips.net/video/BZNaVdwdKFI/видео.html
4:58 bookmark for myself
The initial turn is AWAY from the brushing leg,
whereas
the second turn is TOWARDS the brushing leg.
That’s why beginners can get confused... verbal explanations need to identify distinct differences (different leg, different turn direction, different brush direction) which are not immediately obvious visually).
Can u try to show the steps with some music at the end too?! ;)
We'll remember that for next time! Thanks for the suggestion! ☺️
@@BrocheBallet Thank u so much.
