I included a trip around PEI (bridge over, ferry back) during my across Canada bicycle tour. Very nice side trip and highly recommended. Loved these videos as a way for me to reminisce about my trip back in the day.
Your videos have inspired me to start bike touring next summer. I am currently learning as much as I can and getting ready to start touring in September! Thanks
That's incredible to hear. I am so excited when other people take inspiration from these to plan bike journeys. All the best and good luck on your future bike touring!
@ I am looking for a bike and I trying to decide between the Disk Trucker, Bridge Club and Ogre. I am planning on doing as much bike path and hard pack trail as possible and as little as possible of roads. To start mostly in Ontario and Quebec. Which of the 3 bikes you think would work best. Thinking that 2.2’’ tires should be sufficient.
I have enjoyed watching your cycling adventures. We did a similar PEI/Les Isles bike tour in 2023, although we drove from BC instead of riding there to begin our adventure. Traveling cycling adventures like yours have helped to inspire me to expand my creative abilities (old school photo person) and I have purchased an action camera to learn to do some videography to record my trips rather than just stills. (The drone shots make me think I might have to make another investment!) Thanks!
Thank you so much! It was so worth the trip over there. It was a tough decision to take the ferry back after just one full day on the islands, but that same constant rushing is what brought me so many places across Canada (and the world). IDLM has definitely been calling for an extended return visit at some point. I didn't mention it, but ironically it was the only place I'v ever had something thrown at me from a vehicle (beer bottle out of an oversize pickup trick... of course). Can't let one sad lunatic spoil the rest of the wonderful nature and people there though.
@@nathanstarzynski WOW! Sounds like a return trip is in order indeed! AND, I'm sorry to read of your encounter - your attitude is sound ... don't give them the power of your dismay. Rise above it (though, it was in S. Manitoba that my partner and I were threatened death nose to nose when we crossed Canada - ugh - rattled but pedal strokes cure all! ... and he was in a pick up! 🤣) ... thank you again for the inspiring video and fleshing it with tales from the road in your kind answers. Wishing you Tailwinds!
Thank you! And I agree. Incredible fall colours, no crowds, and pleasant temperatures. October is dream riding. I'm in pure editing mode now, and will be working on sharing the world tour in sequence immediately after Canada's episodes.
Great video thanks! We didn't have power at our house for three weeks. That's a long time to run the generator for an hour a couple of times a day.... thankfully it wasn't cold here when the storm hit or we would have been in much worse shape. There are still houses here with tarps on the roof awaiting repair...
Yes quite the storm. Was there from about 10-20 days post FIona. I remember being absolutely blown away by the damage it had caused. Much more than I showed in the video. All the flattened corn fields, trees knocked in uniform directions, and buildings with shingles largely missing or roofs completely gone. Hope you and the island have been recovering well since.
boil 'em, mash 'em, stick 'em in a stew. Those 'taters are definitely used for lots more. I think those are just the most common/mass produced reasons. Definitely love me some creative potato dishes though.
Nice video Nathan. Technically Prince Edward Island is in the Gulf of St. Lawrence. If you taste the water you get a hint of salt compared to the saltiness of the Atlantic Ocean.
Inspiring! Do you have your bike specs, gear etc posted somewhere? Did you ride the same setup all the way across Canada? Would you change anything? Thanks for these epic videos!
What a great video! If you don't mind my asking, how do you go about selecting your 'wild camping' sites. Do you just wing it, and look for private-ish spots, or do you use any sort of site like ioverlander?
I do use iOverlander a lot, and have used it all across the world. It's a great starting point. Otherwise, I'm looking at google maps for beaches, small parks, or wherever I think will be suitable based on the location. Usually I have a destination in mind for the day, but thats always flexible, and will often change by the late afternoon.
Do you have Garmin files of your routes that you could send to me? I'm particular interested in PEI & Quebec. I would love to use your route as a planning tool.
There are routes linked in the description. You should be able to export them as needed. I've also included links to the actual route maps (route verte and island walk). Those should be a good starting point to build a tour.
Another stunning film. Inspiring!

Les Îles-de-la-Madeleine are one of Canada's best-kept secrets and cycling there is great!
Thanks for a great video. This ride is definitely on my bucket list.

Absolutely brilliant video (again!). Wonderful that you embraced the opportunity to cycle the Isles des Madeleine!! Stunning part of your journey!

@@nathanstarzynski WOW! Cannot wait for these masterpieces to drop! Thank you for your efforts!
Made my day better. Thank you
Another wonderful video Nathan. You are an inspiration. Thank you.
Love these videos. I’m impressed at the lack of flats😂
Thanks! I don't usually film flats, I just fix them. Don't think I had any in PEI though.
@ I think I would have liked to see more of that behind the scenes stuff. Show the struggle lol. Great series. Looking forward to the ns video.
gorgeous! great film!
Well done! We visited PEI - my father's homeland - about 5 years ago and loved it. Beautiful video.
Another beautiful video. Thank you and happy trails.
Amazing as always!
I am in awe of the rich reds of PEI. Thank you for sharing another beautiful video Nathan!

Was pretty stoked to see another episode. These videos are fantastic!
You are a very gifted photographer
Loving your videos. I was unaware of the PEI walking tour. I am all ready thinking about cycling it this fall - Jeff Fergus, Ont
Yay! Thank you for another episode
This man, choice of background audio...He knows his stuff!!!
Thank you so much! Finding the right music, and even SFX is quite a monumental task. Glad it is highly appreciated :)
@nathanstarzynski If I hadn't studied engineering, I would pick filmography, your videos make for a tremendous inspiration.
Oh God, so many beautiful potatoes there, and all they use them for is fries and chips?! Here in Central Europe we make wonders from them! 😋

If I may ask. what headlight you are using during night ride?
Nice vid btw
