Luis I'm totally digging your channel. I love how you actually explain what you're comparing after a few shots to get the full spectrum on what you are showing us!
Sooo... I just bought both from my pro shop and going to throw them tomorrow! Can't wait! Had to go back and look at this video. Thanks for the review!
I think a key variable a lot of bowlers overlook is their tilt. When balls seem similar, the stronger cover formula can be better to help read the midlane for higher tilt bowlers while lower tilt already has natural early read and might want the cleaner cover.
I have a Spectre and it's insane. I'm 2-handed and the further left I go the better it gets. For me it's definitely a later in the night ball but in the last 2 weeks I've used it in league, was my best game by 20-30 pins.
Nice video Luis pre ordered the Phase 4 I know it will fit with the Zen and Axiom Pearl. Then I will decide to add that Altered Reality. Hope the Phase 4 will be a little brother to the Astro r2s. Thanks 😊
Have not had the liberty of owning a phaze 4 yet, but from the reviews I've seen and having and loving a spectre, and a phaze 3 I don't know if phaze 4 is in my future. I agree spectre is def gonna be in the conversation at the end of the year for best ball. Especially only being a thunder line ball and price point. It's gonna be hard to surpass this ball for the amount of performance you get for the price!
I’ve been watching your videos on the Specter for awhile now to replace my halo vision by Roto grip. I also have a zen to and absolutely love it. I just wanted something similar to zen
Love the video! Not surprised by what I saw though, it just seems that R2S pearl is better from straighter with the exception of the Hy-Road pearl, Trend was definitely better from straighter and so was the IQ Emerald if you ever got a chance to throw one of those. I’d probably go with the Spectre for my game because I’m not the biggest fan of R2S pearl and as a lefty I rarely see enough transition to where I would need R2S pearl balls
Lou I think the Spectre fits your game better even though you threw them both pretty darn good. I think if I had my choice I would take the Spectre for my bag. Thank again
I'd love to see a comparison between the Spectre and the Zen. Both are symetrical and pearl. Different RG & Diff's and of course the cover formulas are different too.
@@LuisNapoles I didn't see the Spectre & Zen comparison video you mentioned. I saw the Phaze4 & Spectre video. Is there still a plan for a Zen & Spectre video?
From your video it looked like the Phaze 4 gave you the most miss room on the fresh. When you went to lane 1, the Phaze 4 got into a hook-stop reaction on some shots. The Spectre looked pretty good on lane 1 and continued to shine. For house shots the Phaze 4 would be my choice. I have the Trend 2 and I'd think it would fit to compare to these two balls and win on lane 2 or lane 1. The Altered Reality fits here, too, IMHO. As far as shelf appeal I love the Spectre and I'd like the Root Beer Float smell.
I threw the phaze 4, nova, trend 2, and helios test balls. I'm feeling the phaze 4. Will be a compliment to my phaze 3. Great job with videos! Next time, can we get a better explanation of what the numbers mean (RG, Diff, etc.)? Similar to how you did the difference between reactive, solid, and hybrid.
Think you spector is killer for you. I am leaning towards drilling Hy-road pearl or spector after watching your comparison video of those two. Have Phaze 3 that i love (actually really like with a little surface) and IQ emerald that I like to use when i square up, but it does not have the diff to make the corner for me. Let me know your thoughts and keep up the great work.
I just can't imagine that R3S is so much stronger that it will make a huge enough difference especially on house shot. Since I'm an R2S fan, and iq Fusion is my favorite ball of all time and this thing visually is almost a clone, I'm definitely going with P4. I've never taken a marketing class, but I'm very confused as to why they're releasing these so close to one another when they're so similar. If It was, say, alongside something like the Wolverine then I can see - it's similar, but two different manufacturers. Maybe on flatter patterns there's enough difference for really good bowlers to have both of them in the bag. I don't know if I need to, though.
I haven't had either of these pieces but I had a Code Black then an OG Intense. For me the Intense could handle quite a bit more oil, where the CB was easier down lane, less chuggy with more pop when it had enough friction. I rarely carried both of them but they were pretty different for sure.
I'm trying to decide between the Spectre and the UC3.... I currently have a Reality, Idol Helios, and Hustle Rap as my 3 ball setup. Which of those would compliment my bag the best as my fourth ball? Thanks! Great reviews!
Until I watched this video I was sold on the Phaze 4, now I'm not so sure. Thanks for the conundrum! 😆I'm feeling the Spectre a little more now because I tend to miss right when I move deep inside but my thinking is because it has the stronger cover it can roll past the break point and still get enough friction to get to the pocket. I would love to hear your thoughts! Just food for thought...love my Phaze 3 and maybe that's why I felt like the Phaze 4 would be a great compliment.
Luis, what comparison video will be posted on Thursday? The Spectre vs Zen or the P4 vs Zen. The reason I'm asking is you stated in response to Scott Small it was the the Spectre vs Zen on Thursday. Then to Nick Cottner you said the P4 vs Zen drops Thursday. Hope it's both.
I think the Spectre looked better in this video. It did everything the Phaze 4 did, plus was able to strike from deeper inside. I looked much more versatile.
It's odd, it almost looks like the P4 was temperamental from straighter, and then works really well when you start to bend it a bit more. Maybe just too much friction on the right making it burn up?
Been along while since I’ve bowled, and I’m currently looking for a new ball, but man a they changed a lot.. Im a low rev, Stroker and kinda stuck on what will work with me. But I’m leaning toward one of these two and maybe even the phase 3 . What would you do in my situation?
Honestly neither. If you are just coming back then you should look into the smoother more control balls like a Storm !Q Tour Solid Or a Roto Grip Idol Helios
Hey Luis, I've been bowling for awhile but now I am try to up my game, so please for give me if I sound a little dumb but does the layout you mention work all bowlers? I am more of a low Rev straight bowler. I have the phase II and I moved to where you suggested and it been working. Thank you so much fie your videos Nicole

Can you say way which of the 2 you just reviewed would be better for a lefty who likes to play straight up between 5 and 10 throwing a full roller layout? im guessing the phase 4. also ive dropped in weight from 15 to 14, its improved my accuracy and speed helping me hold pocket. i have and old 15 ib storm lucid which was my go to ball until i had to drop because of a hand condition . what on the market today would be closest to a lucid? love you videos by the way
no idea man every pearl i have so far is just bad on the fresh. just to clean but i might need to sork on my release and not be up the back of the ball so much
I'm no professional, but to me the Phaze 4 looked like it was going through the pins much better and more consistantly than the Spectre. I know we are probably not seeing every shot made either, but from this video without commentary I would say that Phaze 4 was the better ball for your game.
In my videos I show every single shot from the recording day in the order in which I shot them. The only shots that do not make film are the ones from when I am warming up
@@LuisNapoles Good to know. Well then I guess I would say the Phaze 4 definitely looked better for you. What is your current take on both balls after using them some more?
I wanna see a video where you compare ball reaction, period. Forget surface and core. You love the Altered Reality for getting deep, right? Compare that to the Spectre and P4.
@@LuisNapoles I understand. But if you just remove that from the equation and just focus on what ball you use in what situation, that would be cool. Like I said in my original post, you mentioned you loved how deep you can play with the AR... i'd love to hear your thoughts about how different that ball is compared to another ball you might get deep with.
@@ChrisUlrich well it just depends on what you're looking for right? The spectre is a symmetrical pearl. So if you want that house shot killer type of ball these are it. Like you can use these type of balls for all 3 or 4 games of league because of how they roll. Since they get through the front and hit the dry really good despite your style. Sym pearl aren't typically as good on some sports patterns where you need that early hook and control.
I just like how the spectre can be in more oil and still hit good. So you'll get less weak 10 pins in that middle part of the lane. The p4 seems to be a more conventional dump 10 type of ball. Both are probably really good. Just depends on what you're looking for and how you bowl Also I think the p4 will need to be hit with like a 3k pad. It might be better but you could also do that with the spectre and get even more
@@LuisNapoles yeah I'm sure. I could see pros using the phaze 4 on the short stuff over using urethane as well. It looks like that's where it would shine imo
@@LuisNapoles There's rumor that other balls and brands may be under scrutiny as well. So the Spectre may not be the only one. I wonder if they're trying to do a big reset on the types of balls and coverstocks that will be allowed. Seems to me the rolling 2 year date on Urethane is mighty arbitrary as well.
I'm really curious how the phaze 4 will react for you after knocking the polish off a little. I struggle getting up the back of the ball more so polish skid/flip type balls tend to go too long and too sideways for me. I'm definitely leaning towards the spectre out of the box though.
Dude, I don't understand. To me you had the fresh compassion backwards. You threw every phase 4 shot way right of where you threw the spect. It made it back to the pocket on every one . Idk
Because the Spectre is the smoother option it makes it easier to control whereas the P4 is too quick off the spot is a 4 count waiting to happen on the fresh

So true. I rarely get to throw my pearls. As my house most often gets so much carry down I actually have to ball up .
