  • We take the old rigs back out to Tahuya to test out the newly revamped South Loop. Last week we posted the FJ40 on the trail. This week its the CJ2a's turn. What we discovered on the South Loop is that the Willys really likes wheelin' on 3 wheels. Count how many times you see it happen, and compare it to my count in the video. How close am I?

Great video. Demonstration of the absolute genius of the original GP design . . .

Wouldn’t it be cool if you could still buy one of these simple marvels off the show room floor still today?

The “wheel counter” is a nice touch 😄👍🏻

Thanks. I wish there was some sort of macro in Final Cut Pro that would’ve counted and tallied them automatically. I have to admit, it was a little bit challenging to create it manually.

After 70 years, that old girl still got it.

For sure. The front and rear lockers definitely help.

Great content! I enjoyed seeing Tahuya south loop, I am going to run the south loop in a couple weeks. I’m debating if I should take my FJ40 or 4Runner. One is really comfortable and other is a 40… either way I’ll finish the day with a smile. Keep up the great work I enjoy seeing both your 40 and the Jeep!

Thanks! I have yet to see another 40 on the trail while I’m out and about. They are certainly a rare find in the wilderness. Maybe the total lack of creature comforts has something to do with it, haha… None the less, I hope our paths cross one day. It’s always a treat to talk 40’s.

Front a rear! Your rig is 78 years old. Crazy that these old things are still plunking around.

Not a lot of travel in those stiff old springs.

Certainly not. But, the stiff and short travel springs just add to the character, and keep things interesting, right?
