Calf rearing is one of the most sensitive part of raising a future dairy cow and for the first three months you have to get it right cos that's where most of the system forms especially the Milking system and to me pellets is a must from a recognized company cos it helps the rumen to develop early.
You start with handful of calf pellets from day three and you increase the amount as it grows until weaning, then introduce quality dairy meal one kg per day
Yes you can after two months, remember the rumen have not fully developed and silage is acidic.First start feeding it with soft chopped quality hay or grass.
Face to face ni tricky sana coz am always busy...on a right note....currently am tied up with projects, but once i find time i will reach to you if u will be available. Sorry for the inconveniences caused
@@FredDairyFarm Yeah, right thing. Just trying to put together: Chak 6L ni kama 360/-; plus 2kg starter feeds 170; add 2 eggs 25/-. Totals approx. Ksh555/- per day. Ni kazi adier, lakini result is the motivation

Great content! My question is, How often do you change the wood shavings? And doesn't the calf waste eg urine make the place to be dump?
Thank you for watching.I usually change after two days.I have plenty
Nafurahia kazi yako. Kindly niambie vile unakutanisha polythene iwe kubwa na Pana in making silage
Asante sana kaka.Ukiinunua inakuanga hollow inside, yaani inakuanga ya round. All you do ni kuikatanisha from one end then unaitandaza.
Great content.
Thank you for watching.
Very informative. Eggs are supposed to be introduced at week? How long should they be used?
after four days.Break them and mix with the milk and feed the calf
Well noted for 3 months ?
@@joegathara5601to cut cost, two months is enough
very good 💯
Thanks 🔥

You're welcome
How many kgs of daily meal do you feed your calf daily each month as it grows?
You start with handful of calf pellets from day three and you increase the amount as it grows until weaning, then introduce quality dairy meal one kg per day
What can be the issue when a calf urinate urine with blood after drinking too much water?
how old is the calf? Are you using the same container that you feed milk with? You have to change the container.maybe its confusing milk with water.
U don't cook the egg I like that...good content😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣
After weaning do you change the feeding program?
Yes.I introduce napier sillage, hay and supernapier plus concentrates
Are the eggs kienyenji or the others?
i use kienyenji.

how many kg of dairy meal&why not feeding hay plizz tell us
its not in kgs, just a hand full and you increase with time. For me i prefer the grass that i have grown myself.
What do you do for leaky teats?
is a symptom of impaired teat sphincter function. You should consult your vet, check for mastitis and maintain hygiene in your cow shed.
Thank you
@@alokpandey6569 welcome
The eggs are nomal or kienyenji
kienyeji is the best.
Why don't you feed your calves on hay
i prefer feeding mulato or kikuyu grass
Stop using more aaaaa.... And go straight to the point...
okay sir.point noted
Very petty, the message is home already.
This means approx. Ksh500 per day, feeds alone, for just one calf, wow
NOP...you dont count the cost of milk coz that milk is meant for the calf. its like 200 or less per day depending with the prices
