My motors keep burning off requiring replacement or rewinding. What might be the problem?
A voltage imbalance. These include improper wiring, loose connections, or undersized line sizes causing a voltage drop at the motor.

Fred, I have a question, so after calving down, what's the average kgs of milk a newborn pedigree mother produces after properly steaming it before calving
Dam(Mother) have different genetics composition .The is no standard litres for any cow. Some produce less and others more but with time it increases.Incase of this one,its producing 15ltrs of colostrum

Hi Fred, can I get your number. WhatsApp I want to buy panchong cuttings.
Mr. Thank you for being so hard working and an excellent role model for young people. My question to you is this? Are the chuff cutter and the chopper made in Uganda?
@@southone2040 we have locally made in Kenya and some imported from India
When it comes to silage, chopper always produces the best results.
Exactly. That's why i advocate for it when making silage
The same machine cost how much
i bought it at 38k
Fred how can Make the skin of my cow smooth and shinny. Kindly
Its simple.Just feed it on quality mineral salts.
A chopper is good fr silage but its costly especially fuel compared to chuf cutter That's what i discovered
Yeah i agree. But still you can also use a motor instead of petrol engine.
Talking of magadi salt how much should I feed it to the cow at which ration per day
Fuel is expensive compared to electricity but both work hand in hand
@@davidmaina4379 I agree but this is business we are trying to reduce production cost one hundred shillings token can make almost 3 or more silo tubes 100 worth of fuel can't am saying this because I have a chopper but it uses fuel so untill I buy a motor for it then using it is costly compared to chuff cutter
@@PaulKinyua-lo9dn 4 table spoons plus other quality mineral salts

You are much welcome.Thank you for watching
how much is the cost of production of the 24l of milk per day and how much do you sell per L?
The cost of production by then was 21/= kenya shillings and i was selling 50/= kenya shillings per litre. But this changes with market prices and also climate due to fodder security e.t.c
Hi Fred, In one of your videos, you said any milk above 4liters is wastage but here you are indicating 9l? Which is which?
We keep on learning and experimenting new trends.Yes i said so by then. Now i started experimenting on this and the result are excellent.
Your number please for more clarification
Hello Fred, let's say you didn't use any concetrates, will this napier silage have a sweet smell when opening it after 28days or 5days(if used Microbes)?. Would you do a video showing the results of napier silage as you did to that of maize stovers?.Thank you.
In most cases the smell comes from the fermentation process that is aided by molasses and other silage innoculants. The work of concentrates is just to add value to the silage.
Never used chaff cutter but will prefer it more than chopper, chopper breaks easily!
it depends with the hose power of the engine or motor. The higher the better.
I have a three blades chops half an inch of the corn but the chopper is good because it crushes
Chopper is the best coz it crushes the entire maize cobs unlike the chaffcutter
Your videos very educative
Glad to hear that. Thanks for watching.
How much is choper and hoe much is chef cuter
3 blade,2hp electric motor chaffcutter goes for 45-50k whereas silage chopper goes for 40-45 k

Is it still ok to make silage using green maize stalks that the maize itself has been harvested? As a way of just ensuring the stalks do not go to waste even if the maize has been harvested.
@@CecilHenryOfficial yes.you can also use dry maize stalks to make silage as a way of preservation, but you have to add urea and concentrates to add value to it
Thanks for the info. If possible, you can pin the "what else should i know about adding urea to corn silage" at the comment section. This is because the suggested videos are blocking the information, and this appears to be critical information.
@@CecilHenryOfficial okay I will
Hello fred, I have a question: What would make an incalf heifer cow that has not yet given birth but is close to giving start leaking milk, and is it a bad thing
there are many factors that may lead to that; 1.Teat canal protrusion. 2.inverted teat ends. 3.Short teats. 4.High peak milk flow and early lactation. also a sign of early lactation or nearing calving
@@FredDairyFarm thanks for your response, I appreciate it 🙏
@@unavoidable254 Much welcome. Thanks for always watching my videos
Excellent video, thank you for the great work. Milky stage might be best if maize is drying faster, but the most recommend is "dough stage" when is 3/4 milk stage (that is when its on mahindi choma stage with a few cobs still milky), this stage you get most maize grain starch and at the same time keeping a green maize stalk. What is important we need to wait as much as we can for maize grain to foten(not mikly and not hard) i.e. "dough stage" but monitoring maize itself isikauke, that the best
Great. Thanks for such a good explanation
Hi fred, can you show me how to lay the silage roll for underground silage
