i did that once with a .22 lol. put a steel plate inside of a bucket inside of a basement closet when no one was home. Put an audio recorder outside by the backdoor and then went and shot the plate. I also did it without hearing pro to get an idea of what it might sound like if I had to shoot inside in a defensive situation...It was early on in my gun buying life and a .22 rifle was the best option I had at the time for home defense lol. Anyway, the shot could be clearly heard on the audio recording...sounded like a gun shot lol.

Mark Serbu has a great homemade indoor shooting box that he shoots anything at almost. If I’m not mistaken, he uses grind up pieces of tire and something else to catch bullets. He also has a soft front cover for the bullets to travel thru so that when they impact the back, that they don’t splash back. It’s on his YT channel.

Lead exsposure is a big concern when shooting in a indoor environment besides collateral damage. I'd wear a respirator in a designated building with a big backstop & a big exhaust system. Should've had a mic outside too record the sounds outside which is the main reason to shoot indoors as to not piss the neighbors off. My neighbors are cool with shooting in back yard but I don't shoot alot there cause I don't want to be disrespectful.

You should redo the trap design and basically reverse the style. Have the entrance really shallow and the back more open. So basically you're shooting into a shallow hole which opens up into a big box. That way less stuff can fly out
Could potentially function like a shotgun choke though. All that debris moving at high velocities could end up riding the sides out, resulting in a more concentrated blast of fragments
For those who didn’t know, he later admitted that at 10:56 you can see Matt looking down at his arm. That was a piece of bullet shrapnel that hit him and started bleeding badly. He literally got hit with bullet fragment and didn’t say a word about it on camera.
