Any chance you can come out with coursework (updated to these new Shopify features), and have them released outside of Skillshare? I'm more than willing to pay a premium.
Hey Jay Jay. Updates have already been published to the main Skillshare class. As for RUclips, I'm planning a few more videos. Just taking care of those Skillshare classes first 😉
Amazing video, Chris. My theme is pre-2021. Do I need to make a migration to JSON first on this theme before I begin "from scratch" with a premium 2.0 theme? Or will my current site migrate into a 2.0 template with no issues?
Hi Chris, How are you? I have taken the subscription. I believe you will make some videos on Skillshare regarding the new Shopify update 2.0 Looking forward to see those updated video, thanks again Chris
Hey Chris! Couple of things. 1. Love the content. I watched all your Skillshare videos as well which I highly recommend to anyone. 2. I’m looking to move out of the country and work in tech. Did you only do freelancing / upwork while living abroad? Was there any programs you took advantage of that helped you? 3. I have yet to see a video / a helpful guide about building a product recommendation quiz anywhere since the majority of the traffic is just apps pushing their stuff. Might be a good video / Skillshare tutorial to talk about jQuery filtering with JSON objects. Keep up the stellar work!
Hey Chris! That means that we no longer need Liquid templating language with the features of Online Store 2.0? I'm asking from perspective of the developers who haven't yet started working on shopify.
Can you comment on the fact that these new .json files get written to Shopify when content is added (before only setting_data.json was written to, and was not a file that developers ever needed to work with), meaning your work-in-progress theme is in a constant state of disparity with your working file and GIT. It completely sucks. Any work arounds?
Yes. That is true but I think it sucks more that the customiser changes don't update your project code instantly like it does on the Theme Library. One of my viewers pointed out though that you can use Shopify CLI to pull the customiser changes when working with a development theme. I will pin his comment now on my Shopify CLI video.
Why is no one talking about the extremely LIMITED Filters?? This NUTS!!! Every forum just goes okay we cant do that anymore or - go and pay $20 a month for filters!! I don't understand how shopify thought this was okay!
Great video man, I tried to add a "Contact" section in Collection.json. But it shows this error when theme watch the update: Section 'contact' is not supported on collection templates. Do you have any idea how to solve this issue? Thanks.
As I mention in the video, Online Store 2.0 does not appear to be a new environment. My development store was definitely created before June 29 2021 and seems to have all the features of Online Store 2.0 now. As for migrating themes, yes, you can migrate your theme from the old 'templates as Liquid' to the new 'templates as JSON' system. I'll have a video out soon on the topic otherwise you can read the guide of Shopify's site here shopify.dev/themes/migration
Just uploaded my Shopify 2.0 Dawn theme yesterday! Almost have it done!
Solid summary my dewd great work

I don't quite understand your question. Shopify now supports json templates and liquid templates. There's nothing on the backend to upgrade or change.
Thank you for keeping us updated on shopify!
Insightful as usual.. best shopify tutorials.
Hello. Can u show more information how do you work with shopify 2.0
There are four more videos in the series ;)
Thank you so much for updating us.

Hi Chris please make few short video around new updates..
Hi Jahin. Yes, I plan to make 3 videos going deeper into what I've just talked about in this video. One of them will be out in a few days :)
Hey Chris! That means that we no longer need Liquid templating language with the features of Online Store 2.0?
I'm asking from perspective of the developers who haven't yet started working on shopify.
Liquid is still equally essential, it is backbone for shopify.
Not at all. If that was the case, I would have definitely mentioned in the video.

I just noticed that feature a week or so ago! I'll be making a video on it soon.
The only challenge is how Big the images are! They stretch out the current images on the products and blogs etc. makes them blurry....
Which images?
@@CodewithChristheFreelancer Product images and images on my blogs...
Hey CHRIS please make a video for color swatches and Filter search please
Hi Robin. Please describe what you’re trying to achieve. Not sure what you mean by ‘filter search’

hmm not sure why it would say that but Shopify does recommend you use Shopify CLI rather than Themekit with JSON template
Always great content, thanks @chris
Hi chris! if im in a developement account, and im building my website there, does that mean i still have to migrate that store to 2.0?
