Three knocks on the door, death. Picture falling of the wall, death, I could be here all day 😉 lovely to hear all the folklore I miss mammy and daddy frightening the bejaysus out of us chiselers, oh happy days.
This is something that I'm going to save because my mother's family is Irish, and a little Scottish (wee bit) But this must be preserved. It will be a crying shame to lose this generation of TRUE Irish...so precious of a heritage, words can't even express.
These are wonderful stories; brilliant of you to get them before these lovely people were gone. I've so enjoyed them. I have a little bit of trouble with the delightful accent as I'm American, but these are priceless.
They were lost long ago when Christianity took over Ireland and removed the original pagan beliefs. Listen to the amount of holy water and Sunday’s in these tales which were never Irish beliefs.
Funny I moved into my new place back in Oct on a Friday and have had nothing but good luck ever since. But I will add was paid my wages just after Christmas on a Monday and the whole of Jan had nothing but money problems. Everything you guys say are true to the word.
I had heard about not working on sunday or fishing on sunday & I heard about the banshees warning of death, but some other things I had not heard of, like moving or starting a business on friday or robins coming into a home or burning the mistletoe before xmas! Thank you for the video, enjoyed it! My grandfather was irish as well as my dad too.
The worst thing about progress is we loose a little more of our culturer. This type of person are all but gone, very thin on the ground. Poverty was a great bringer of people, there was more about the ordinary people from that time. All their little quirks, their superstitions old stories. It upsets me to think that this will all come to a end. We haven't the caliber of that kind of people any longer. Bring those days back. 👊☘️
I heard the banshee many a year ago and believe me you know it’s her it so sounds on worldly Many years later my son seen her a and heard her. He said he will never forget it till his drying day.And his only 28 now he was about 19 then. You should have seen the colour of him
Best to get a Priest to bless the water and salt in the old Latin rite, It's a great deal more powerful, a longer Blessing with a minor exorcism is included.
@@ShoJ369 Absolutely Sheila. In fact, find priests that do everything in the old Latin rite. When they changed the mass and the ways, they let the devil in.
@@CannabrannaLammer I only attend Latin Mass and yes you're 100% correct. There is a great war against the Latin Mass at present, but I am trusting in God completely, God bless you 🙏
I can understand why we had some of these superstitions in Australia now with our Irish heritage .... but I'll be looking into the background of where they came from way back ... I don't just believe things bcos I'm told its so
I'm an American 75 years old, but both of my maternal grandparents and my paternal grandmother had deep Irish roots ( O'Connor, Dean, Behan, McGivin (?) ). As a youngster I heard of many of these customs that had been passed down to them, and tons of ghost stories from this side of the Atlantic. My one grandmother always said that if you see the ghost of a dead relative appear all you need to say to make them go away is: " _______-, what in the name of God do you want? ", and they will instantly vanish.
My Granny told us children if you see ANY spirit, you should ask it "What, in the name of the Lord, do you want?", and if it was there for evil purposes, it would have to leave. I asked Granny, "What if it tells me it's there for me?!" She assured me it couldn't hurt me once I mentioned God's name, but many years later when I felt a malevolent spirit, don't you know I completely forgot all those conversations with my Granny. That was a miserable night! : )
I would have liked to hear some stories for the others, the same people over powered the conversation everytime...would have been nice to encourage the others to speak up.

I always do the May morning dew wash. Gives you a year of beauty!
I dread us irish losing these ways,,,,beautiful way of being
You will be forced to accept Arabs and Africians and your Childrens heritage will be gone unless you start to stand up as one .
I'm from Belfast and we still keep these customs.

My parents' families both said -- anything begun on a Friday won't last long. They were all Westport, Castlebar and Foxford area.

Its not folklore. Its called being Catholic.
mixture of pagen and religion.
I wish I could listen to these, but iso struggle understanding the accent and the subtitles are atrocious 😂😂😂
Barack Obama's Irish ancestors came from Offaly. I wonder if his family had any of these stories.
