    Hi Sheri. I just wanted to mention that there are two main types of repositioning cruises; transpacific and transatlantic. They are exactly what they sound like but the transpacific ones are usually twice as long as the transatlantic ones-sometimes 20 days or more. If you need port calls on your cruise then you should think twice about doing one. Also, with all those sea days you need to keep a close eye on your bar tab and casino spending along the way.

    Just got back from a repo Cruise from Tampa to Copenhagen (I continued on the ship though B2B to do the Norwegian Fjords). (Norwegian Star) Personally, I love repo cruises and love lots of sea days actually. For those considering it, you will never be bored as there are tons of activities and stuff to do or you can choose to do nothing at all and just relax. Another nice benny to repo cruises, too, is that they are rarely full. In this case the ship was only 1/2 full, so no lines for anything really, no problem (walk-up) to eat in any specialty restaurant if you wanted to or to the buffet or MDR's etc etc.

      +Brad Johnson Thank you for the wonderful and experienced perspective. I never thought about the lack of crowds. That sounds like a huge plus!!'

  • @thejokerspeaks

    We're bias towards repos. I don't think 6 straight days at sea would be my thing, but it's a cheaper way to sea Europe if you get a Transatlantic that is port heavy. RCL/Celebrity have Choice Air, which reduced airfare down to normal, otherwise international round trip tickets are often much cheaper than one-ways.
    Our 11 day West Coast repo only has 2 sea days!

    • @CruiseTipsTV
      @CruiseTipsTV  8 лет назад +1

      +thejokerspeaks Fair point. Cruising Europe for the meals onboard alone vs ashore seems like the way to go.
      11 day west coast repo sounds great. The shorter Pac coastal aren't as appealing to us because we feel too close to home. So, that's 9 ports in 11 days huh? Sounds fab.

    • @thejokerspeaks
      @thejokerspeaks 8 лет назад

      +CruiseTipsTV Yeah I agree, plus you might catch a couple islands in the Atlantic if the itinerary is longer.
      The Pacific Coastal starts in San Diego, goes to Monterey , Santa Barbara, Frisco x2, Astoria, Seattle, Victoria, and Nonaimo. Central California I've seen because I grew up in Stockton (yeck), but I've only seen Santa Barbara briefly.

      +thejokerspeaks That sounds amazing. I remember going to Vancouver island as a kid and having Nanaimo bars....so dang tasty!!!
      How cool that it stops in Astoria! I've never been.
      Santa Barbara is a great port, but I'm biased. We did a little video a few years back on things to do in SB, you've probably already seen this:

      @thejokerspeaks 8 лет назад +1

      +CruiseTipsTV I've never been to Astoria either, just Newport. We've got friends and family in the Seattle area, so we'll probably just hang out at Pike Place Market or something. I often lean towards ship excursions, 8 port days in the US & Canada, I'm going to do mostly private. shoreexcursioneer has far cheaper options, and you search by your ship's itinerary. Nice video on Santa Barbara, I'll have to watch it again before sail too.

      +thejokerspeaks there is also www.icelandair.com and www.wowair.com that have very good transatlantic rates btw (one-way)

    You are fun-funny. I think I would love to do a re-positioning cruise and get a deal on the hotel and flight back out of Spain two vacations in one!

    Nice video. Just subscribed. I am sold on repositioning cruises. I am doing my third one in April with some friends on Princess. We are leaving out of LA with 4 days at Sea ending up in Vancouver, BC. Since we live in Seattle, a flight to LA is fairly reasonable and a 3 hour bus ride from Vancouver back to Seattle is under $50.00. We are definitely looking forward to it. Love your videos. Keep it up!

      Hey, welcome! I've yet to try a repo, but it's on my wish list. Do you find the prices are better? That sounds like a terrific cruise in April. I am hoping to visit Vancouver soon, as the flights from LAX are SUPER reasonable.

    • @JKVmanVideo
      @JKVmanVideo 7 лет назад

      I think the April cruise is a pretty decent deal: Balcony, 4 nights $600.00 each plus the usual add on. Between Seattle and Vancouver there are a lot of 1 night cruises. Perfect for anyone interested in trying a cruise for the first time. Those are only $99.00 for an interior $149.00 for a balcony. Cheers!

      @CruiseTipsTV  7 лет назад

      +JKVmanVideo $600 sounds like quite a bargain. I'd love to live near any port like Vancouver or Seattle. Alaska cruise heaven!

    It's basically a one way cruise.

  • @paulbjorlin2807

    One mistake you made in defining a repo cruise is that a repo cruise is for moving a ship from one location to another. Not all cruises start and end in the same port such as an Alaskan cruise which is not a repo cruise. Yes on a repo cruise you will start in one port and end in another but that can happen on other cruises also that are not repo cruises. You described other cruises as starting and ending in the same port that is just a round trip cruise. I enjoy watching your videos.
