I don't think us gardeners ever stop moving things about. I imagine my old park's bosses would scream if they saw me moving plants around all through the summer. But if I don't do so there and then, I'll lose my notes by Autumn and forget about it. Love the little Veronicastrum. Looks sturdy enough to survive a gale or two (which is the main factor in my garden. Lots of plants end up on the floor together with the supports meant to hold them up).
2:58 "There we go... we'll plant that!" (Throws it on the ground) 😂😂😂 This guy is like me in spring when I can finally get out in the garden. All scatterbrained because there's so much to do! 😂
Yes. Your last words, "Next year everything will be back to normal again. Not just in the garden." I'll add, with some self reflective truths about humanity. God willing. :)

🙋hi from Scotland hi John another great wee vidio that border will be nice next year love your channel your amazing in what you know about gardening can't wait till your next vidio another nice shirt 😊 stay safe take care Anne Scott from Scotland
Hello from the USA where the sun is STRONG, even in USDA zone5. I enjoy your videos and appreciate the graphic showing the names of plants. I find that many plants can be divided and moved during the growing season but I have to water them a bit.
I like the white orange combo as well. Always associate it with June gardens when the tall wild ditch lillies flower with the annabelle hydrangeas. Both are quite wildly expanding on territory so admire it in other peoples' gardens. So self seeding california poppies would do well with phlox in a more contained look.
I've sometimes moved stuff in the heat of summer, and have found that if I leave a big enough clump of soil around the roots and dig it up without too much of that soil falling away, then most things move successfully. Easier said than done sometimes I know...
John just found your videos and I’m a big fan - amateur gardener in housing estate in limerick. Keep up the great work. I have a hydrangea- traditional pink mop head variety about 10 / 15 years old and I’m hoping to move it - any advice and when would be the safest time to try this. ?
Chris from Sacramento, California. I dug up my Annabelle hydrangea to move it to a better location. I was able to split it in two, no problem. They are both doing well and both flowering. Been about a year now.
Bills Sawshop I guess that would be because he’s a professional gardener and not a producer.. plus he usually has something to show you as he’s walking around.
I love this guy with all my heart and soul.

Me too. I liken it to newborn calves or lambs out for the first time. I believe the aster is Monch, I have it beside the pond.

I hope so too Veronica, from our lips to God ears 🙏🙏

Your videos brighten my day and inspire my gardening efforts.

Enjoy being educated about all manner of orthodox and unorthodox gardening practices by this Elfin man...meant in the most endearing way
Really? To me he looks tall!
Sooo interesting as usual john
Thanks for sharing
"It will grow very very quickly or it won't grow at all" 😅
Such a character!
😂
Спасибо Джон!... Вы потрясающий человек! Счастья тебе Джон...)

Love your vision 🌼 it will grow!
I love that unknown blue aster with the dark purple buddleia
Have not seen you for long time. When you dig it sounds like you are digging in gravel!
Am I the only person to see his zip was open. If i need to get out in the garden more. Ha ha.
You are still a favourite, John.
I wish you could come and work on my garden
Back to normal next year............let’s hope so 🙏👍🏻😛
Fabulous
Great video
So beautiful, what is that big red tree ?
"You can split and move plants in August". Not in Greece when the temperature is 38C and sometimes it reaches 40C.
Is the aster Aster Frikartii? It's a great aster. Planning to add a lot more of them to my garden!
I don’t know what it is but it’s not Aster frikartii which is a fantastic aster.
@@johnlordssecretgarden was worth a try! Hope you can find out soon
I love having a quick walk around your garden. I'm so fastidious about watering in. Do you do that off camera?
We don’t water a lot, just when it’s needed. People generally overwater.

Winter and early spring is best for moving stuff. And probably best to cut to cut it hard back as well even though you loose a years flowering
Is there an orange veronicastrum?
What pruner do you use? it looks good and heavy duty.
It’s just a cheap make but I keep it well sharpened. The felco brand is probably best
John, can you split a hydrangea root ball?
Chris from Sacramento, California. I dug up my Annabelle hydrangea to move it to a better location. I was able to split it in two, no problem. They are both doing well and both flowering. Been about a year now.
goshmargo thanks for the reply. 👍
why did he break the leaves?
Aster frikartii (blue aster)
Ha “I wouldn’t cut that dogwood,” please, if you had a power tool that’d be cut back HARD. 😂 praise jah!
John. What is the purpose of showing you walking hurriedly, over and over ,to the next area of the garden? Thanks
That's his style .. 🤷
Bills Sawshop I guess that would be because he’s a professional gardener and not a producer.. plus he usually has something to show you as he’s walking around.
So the viewers can have a look at the borders which are beautiful.
Pure entertainment.
His energy is infectious.
My God, this guy is so frenetic, I think he,s bipolar!!!
