Really enjoy these 'fundamentals breakdowns' vids. It seems you can't be a '3d artist' with just the '3d' ... You need the 'artist' as well. Been trying to work on my fundamentals so these type of vids have been super helpful. Please keep up the great work!

Thank you! You're spot on - 3D is just a tool, the fundamentals is what really separates the good from the OK ones.

only this channel would do a 45-minute video exclusively about contrast! thank you so much for this. I Have often struggled with balancing it out in past artwork of mine.

Amazing, happy to help! :D We try to do a lot of these longer, in-depth videos from time to time. Certain topics simply requires a lot of time, so glad you enjoy them

Great video! I especially like how you tie the use of contrast into 3D modeling by touching on texturing and Zbrush alphas. I personally would love more art fundamentals videos. Color theory is a topic I struggle with most often and I would love your take on it. I know it is a bit of a deep dive and you guys have touched on it before, but it would be much appreciated. Thank you so much for this channel and your time. You guys always share really great, practical information.

Your podcasts are awesome. There is a request if you guys can do a podcast meanwhile sculpting something realistic and having reference side by side and, explain how your brain reads the references, It would be great. Thanks in advance!

I love these art fundamentals, they really help to refresh and even break an existing, maybe narrowed perspective (which all so often creeps up on everyone of us ;>) and to rethink oneself's approach to things we maybe handle more on a subconscious level most of the time contrary to that purposely and deliberate approach which can catapult our creations to the next level. Even if you guys ramble about an oversized horse that nowadays everybody would cry 'shopped!' over or fantasize about being the result of an evil gene manipulation conspiracy or the proof for the existence of hobbits in real life, it's all very much appreciated ;D. Thanks, and I, for my part, would be happy to see more of this :)!

Love your passion for the industry and the vids are definitely helping us new comers into the vfx and games industry. Is it possible for you guys to make a tutorial on how to render in Marmoset Toolbag 3, I see a lot of people on Artstation who have really cool renders and it would be awesome for you two to show us how we can use it for our portfolios.

I'd liked this to be even more in depth, though I like it. At 35:53, the dragon has that lighting effect, that also often appears in reality, gets artificially introduced in photography to not let figures sink into darkness and in classic paintings (Caravaggio etc). This effect is abstracted and used to accentuate outlines in the modern sonic illustrations and in chrome effect graffiti, where a gradient from dark to black meets one from white to light Grey. I think it happens somewhat often in drawing comics and graffiti that you emphasize your black outline by a white or different line right next to it.

this is off topic, but because I am now finding myself choosing between different universities in UK, are there any you would suggest specifically? somewhere to aim towards?
I have watched your previous video on this topic but a word from experts in the field would be great!
