- Known for her confessional lyrics and raspy, smoky vocals, Melissa Etheridge has remained one of America’s favorite female singer-songwriters for more than two decades.
Since the release of her self-titled debut album in 1988, Melissa has gone on to sell millions of records across the world and has won countless awards including two Grammys and an Oscar in 2007 for “I Need To Wake Up” from Al Gore’s 2004 documentary “An Inconvenient Truth.”
In 2004, at the age of 43, Melissa was diagnosed with breast cancer.
Despite losing her hair from chemotherapy, she appeared at the 2005 Grammys to sing “Piece of My Heart” in tribute to Janis Joplin and to offer hope to millions.
She took time out of her incredibly busy schedule to share her story with a Q&A Session and rock the house for the hundreds of attendees this year.
