Rob has spoken about how it's purely a logistics things ... can't be taking crates of vinyl everywhere when you can have all that and more in your laptop
You travelled from the UK? Wow. I know two guys from the island of Guernsey who travelled all the way to Hawaii in this same year, to attend the ITF World Final. They were let into the battle for free, and invited on a boat ride around one of the islands, with all the DJS and judges.
kids these days have no friggin clue... god I love this. Saw them live in Austin (liberty lunch) probably this same year. They were opening for Xhibit and Big Pun. I had never heard of them before that night... O. M. G.!!!! It was a tiny venue, I was right up front. i swear to god my head was going to melt I was sooooooo blown away. I had seen two DJs go back n forth before. But this?!?!? never. A 4 DJ ensemble!! One of if not THE best live show I ever saw. Goose bumps remembering that night. RIP Roc Raida most definitely. Just sick skills...
18 yrs later and still magnificently performed. Almost daily I come back and watch all the Xecutioners vids - love them. Back in the day, I became a dj off of Grandmaster Flash, Kool Herc and Red Alert - and then I seen a Xecutioners video, it was on! The 49 who dislike this... you can't - you can't - funk - this! Rest In Paradise Grandmaster Roc Raida! #Legendary Xecutioners #MistaSinsta #TotalEclipse #RobSwift #GrandmasterRoc Raida #PracticePracticePractice #HipHopwillneverdie #TrueTurntablism Much Respect from the StL!
RIP RAIDA. Always a humble guy. Gave him props twice at 2 shows - well deserved. FULL CLIP @ end of this is too much. Amazing. They performed the same set in my town in 2000 and it was classic.
5:19. Old skool turn tableism genius. Love total eclipse, he looks like he's really enjoying himself on the decks. Best thing I've seen in my life. Mad skillz 💪
good stuff...love the honey drippers break beat!!! we tried to go hard like this back in1984...it was good stuff...keep working hard alot of people forgot about the dee-jay..
This is amazing! I won't lie, the reason I checked this video out is because of their collaboration with Linkin Park. But this is fucking great. Hip Hop & turntable legends.
DAMN! This is insane to the fullest. They were straight killin the tables and when they would switch to a new track was just flawless. That Gangstarr freestyle was somethin else though.
daymn...i remember when i was Interning at DMC USA and i saw this...i was hiding to just watch this routine and Christie found me and she said,..."dont worry Fingaz...you can take a break"...those were the days....99 was a great year!! There's a second part to this too which was sick!! that crowd at the end roared crazy loud at the end of this routine
That Off Beat Drumming shit they drop around 4:10 is still unsurpassed by my reakoning, true musicality and then straight back into more sick flows before the juggle chain thing. Hell yeah this is just one of those All Time Greatest moments in Turntablism History. R.I.P. Grandmaster Roc Raida
All it took was 5 seconds for me to go "HOLY SHIT!" and wake my girlfriend up. Just happened 15 seconds ago. Relative to the time of this post of course.
@Bojack222 LOL to answer that question, the guy who was licking his fingers (Mista Sinista) did that so he can have more control on the crossfader, turntable and the knobs on the mixer. Correct me if I'm wrong. ;D
@thegangstaivan you're right man. it is easier to scratch the record and juggle with the crossfader when you have a little wet fingers. However, I don't know if it's used for the knobs. But Mista Sinista is sick man with the turntable. Love it at 5:20 when he juggles the crossfader to a Gang Starr-classic :D
Hey look, no mac book :D
Bit before that
8 years late, no serato either.
Goosebumps... No Laptop DJ will ever possess Skillz like that.
damn straight
All of the x-men Use Laptops Now...
DJ Rob Swift still uses vinyl in his main performances
Denzel Adams and that laptop fucked up robswift 2009 DMC set.
Rob has spoken about how it's purely a logistics things ... can't be taking crates of vinyl everywhere when you can have all that and more in your laptop
they murdered that set, flawless and then went through every juggle in the book.
RIP Grandmaster Roc Raida...father of Body Tricks. Gone, but never forgotten... .screams to the X-Men.
I was there to witness this amazing set. I came over to NY with some friends to support the Scratch Perverts, fantastic time
