Found this while setting up a DJI Mic 2 with the C70. My tips for anyone using the DJI Mic is to set the gain high on the ouput of the DJI (+9) and really dial down the input volume of the C70. That results in the lowest noise floor. The C70 has a fairly good DAC but, it still introduces noise if the input levels aren't set right, or gain is too low. Nice video!
Hi, I followed your video closely, but on my C70 ch. 3 and 4 are dimmed, so I cannot set up anything with those channels. How do you activate ch. 3 and 4 like you have. I cannot even select them on the menu because they are dimmed. Thanks,
Few things. Slow motion mode will be grayed out. If you switch to xavc and go to the 3rd main menu (before the audio menu) and see where it says audio format mp4? You can set 4 channels there
@Roman.the.explorer Hi Roman, thank you for the great video. I've got a question… The manual gain on the mic channel (3 & 4) are quite weird… when I lower the MIC gain in my C70 it's like putting a brick wall ceiling to the audio… the volume is clamped… it's so so strange. Have you noticed this issue?
Thanks for the explanations. What would you recommend as a setting on a mic with it's own gain dial, like the Deity D3 Pro has? Do I turn the dial on the mic all the way up or down?
I'm using the Rode NTG Videomic (the one with the gain adjustment knob on the back), and I get hissing when I plug into the 3.5mm jack and set channel 3 to the mic input and channel 4 to back up at a lower audio gain. It seems like there's no good level to set mic gain at. My friend uses the Videomic Pro Plus and says hers is just plug and play without having to set all the channels like that, and she doesn't have hissing or anything. Any thoughts why this is happening - could it be the cable, could it be the mic?
If you have a sennheiser lavalier mic on input 2 and a xlr cable. My problem is that it always record tio high. What specs do you use for just the lavalier?
Hey, thank you so much for the video. I really appreciate it. Can I kindly ask you. (It's hard to explain but I hope you'll understand) I've got C70 and Im recording 3.5 Rode GO II into channels 1 and 2. For some reason when people start speaking louder - the voice meter cuts in the middle. Meaning if I adjust level sliders lower - it will cut everything from middle and up. (For ex even from -10 and up everything is lost). Do you have same issue ? Can you recommend a solution? Thank you for your time 🙏🏼
Hm, that's weird. I would check/ try 2 things. First see if the attenuator is on, maybe it's causing it? If that don't work try resetting the camera settings. Lastly try a different mic out of curiosity.
@@Roman.the.explorer I updated the firmware today and still had the issue. So I turned attenuator on and it helped. Now seems like when I scream at the mic - the level can go higher then the set level before. Which is great. Still don't know why to complicate things like that as my R6 doesn't have that issue. Thank u for your help 🙏
Pretty good run through on the audio settings for the C70. I just setup a full Mic scenario with 4 independent mics into the C70, only bummer is that they way to do it 3 and 4 are unbalanced.
I am testing out a couple mics for my c70 and wanted to use my ntg videomic instead of my ntg3. Is it not possible to use the usb c input to record audio?
Your favorite mic?!
Rode Video mic pro

Great video. Roman breaks it down and makes it simple! Thanks man
No problem!
super clear video thank you bro!
Glad it helped!
Do the mini XLR cables lock in the camera? Have you have any issues with the mini XLR cables?
Yep they lock in and no issues at all. I don't use the adapters I just bought a mini xlr on one end and xlr on the other.

@@Roman.the.explorer Thanks; setting the camera to XF-AVC fixed it. :)
Thanks for the video. Do you know if we can set channel 3 or 4 to the internal mic for a scratch track?
Hey, thanks for watching! Im sure you can set any channel for any microphone either internal or external 🤙
@@Roman.the.explorer thank you. I had been rolling through the menus, however, it’s right there, quickly accessible, button 13.
Thank you for this!! Desperately needed this tutorial
You're so welcome!

Thank you! Hmm does not happen to me, I'll let you know if I notice is next time I'm on a shoot

I’m giving myself a minute waiting for my head to stop spinning 😵💫 are any of these mics for background noise
Haha I had to record this video just so I can fully understand this myself LOL! But yeah the fluffy ones are good for the background noise! :)
Great video - great explanation

Hm that's weird. I just adjust it to -12 and it usually works fine. Plus you can have a save track recording at -15 let's say

Roman, thanks for this video! But how do you use EF optics? Cos it has awful noise from lens USM motor. Is it any way to avoid it? Thanks again!
I just try to put the mic away from the camera, on a boom for example. Actually my lenses are not really that loud. Which one is giving you noise?

Right! I wonder why they separated them. It took me forever to figure out
Cheers, very helpful!
Thanks! 🙌
Thanks mate ✌🏻
Any time!
dude what s with the music?....it s a nightmare to listen to

Hey, I don't think you can use usb c for audio on c70 unfortunately
