Do yourself a favor and don’t take the tour of Richmond's White House of the Confederacy

  • *Editors note: I misspoke in this video - - the first White House of the Confederacy is located in Montgomery, Alabama.
    Richmond's tour of the White House of the Confederacy is a joke! And someone needs to mention how wrong they are about Jefferson Davis.
    Davis wasn’t some slimy railroad lawyer trying to gain political power like some leaders we’ve heard of-no, he had a well accomplished and successful political career. The bottom line is that Jefferson Davis deserves his rightful place in history, especially considering all his accomplishments.
    Mentioned in this video is one of my favorites, the book Truths of History:

    I toured it many, many times in uniform, during the existence of the great Museum of the Confederacy.
    The greatest tribute we can give to our Confederate heroes and our glorious president in Richmond is to absolutely boycott anything thats been taken over by the evil and ignorant.

      I have a friend that went and toured it. And Richmond has a couple of those museums. But he told me that neither Museum was an account. He said it's more about black history and I'm not interested in black history in the Civil War not that crap.

    The Civil War started over a difference in trade tariffs; the north's tariffs were more favorable than the south's. Had little at all to do with slavery.

      Not even true. Read the Declaration of Secession from every one of the Confederate States, it plainly lists slavery as the reason for secession. South Carolina’s Declaration of Secession doesn’t even mention tariffs or taxes.

    Thanks brother. I am so pleased to see such an intelligent young man who has been raised and properly EDUCATED IN HISTORY. Old Jeff made some mistakes and interfered a bit too much with the military tactics, but still he was head and shoulders above his contemporaries, especially the tyrant Lincoln. I would have Davis in my top ten Americans of all time. Old George Washington being number one of course. Godspeed patriots.

      @@dalepeto9620 , no he tried to restore the Constitution and save the rights of all Americans. Because the debasement of the Constitution is destroying the U.S. even now. T'was Lincoln, Grant, Sherman, and Sheridan who made war directly on Southern civilians. And presently the Deep State oligarchs have taken up their mission. But I agree Hood was a serious error but moreso was Bragg. And I think Forrest could have won the war in the West had he been utilized properly. Godspeed patriots.

    On Jeff Davis, that's like saying that Ted Kaczynski was a math genius and it's a shame no one mentions that when they talk about him. We all agree he was a traitor to the United States though, right?

      Davis was no more a traitor to the Constitutional Republic than Washington or Jefferson were to the Crown. You agree our Republic was founded by treasonous traitors right?

    • @senatorlainez
      @senatorlainez 2 месяца назад

      @@confederateshop One small difference, Washington and Jefferson won independence. Crucial factor here. But you're right, they were traitors to the Crown and couldn't be happier about that.

    • @confederateshop
      @confederateshop  2 месяца назад +2

      So might makes right then. hmm. I disagree. History is written by those who've hanged heroes, as Robert the Bruce once said. It's clear within the Declaration of Independence that the Confederate cause was based in the same principles of self-government as the colonial struggle. Factors contributing to that self-government between the two are a different conversation.

      To go a little deeper on the rule of law and this idea of secession being treason. Is it against the law today, yes--as forced through with Texas v. White in 1868. But to say it was illegal prior to that is not correct. When you go back and study the ratification of the U.S. Constitution, as States entered the Union, a few clearly outlined what was already assumed by the other States. Virginia, New York, Rhode Island, later Texas, all stated (I’m paraphrasing) that if the government of the Union did not suit their needs they reserved the sovereign right of independence. Not only this, but the precedent was set in the early 1800's where parts of New England threatened secession on four separate occasions, while not once was the right denied them--by either another state or political party. Then there is the textbook written by William Rawles--friend of George Washington, who commissioned Rawles to write a book on the Constitution. It clearly condones secession as an inherent right.

      @@confederateshop No, my friend, in the immortal words of the rail splitter: "Let us have faith that right makes might." I think we are getting nowhere. The self-governance argument is the same as "states rights." States rights to do what exactly? You and I both know what that is. You're right, it's a different conversation. The one we are having is whether or not J.D. was a traitor to the United States, and indeed he was.
