The Dead Sea has always fascinated me (60+ years). Amazed at this information. Extremely dangerous terrain though. Stratford Ontario Canada.
Wow, I visited the Dead Sea in 1989/90, it is actually quite surprising to see its demise since then. I read many books on it and saw many photos and thought the place was reasonably stable. But what I’ve seen of it in recent has actually shocked and fascinated me, the fascination being how such a well known place that survived for thousands of years can be so decimated in such a short period of time.

The decline of the Dead Sea is very sad. I remember how beautiful it was in the 1970s.
Thank you for this video. It is very interesting and informative. I am always fascinated with the Dead Sea. We were able to see it while visiting the Masada , Ein Gedi and the Qumran region.
Amazing video. I can believe that there is industrial discharge into the river. That may be why there is foam all along the river. The tourists rubbing dead sea mud all over themselves now have “ secret ingredients” from the secret river. Nice video and good warning not to wander out there. 👍
it's not sewage or industrial discharge. it's just water after the salt and minerals have been taken out of it through evaporation.
Fascinating topic. My wife and I visited Israel twice, and during our first visit (1994), we trekked to the Dead Sea. Things very different now based on what I see in your video. Thanks for doing this.

I enjoy all your videos, Oren, but these off-the-beaten-path ones are fascinating! And I really appreciate the warnings of any danger. I would love to see some more videos featuring cafes and food places that the locals love. Maybe showing how to make certain foods that are popular there. What is the average grocery store like? Is it common for people to grow gardens? These are all burning questions I have 😜

I’ve worked around sinkholes in the past. There is no way I would go to this area without a guide!! It looks like a wonderful guided tour.
oh and also if you step foot anywhere on the land, you'll be arrested.
