My father is an artist with these machines, he have been working for more than 40 years making chenille letters in Mexicali, Mexico, he has 8 of these machines and of course, he repair these machines by himself, I will record him in action and upload to youtube, he deserves it, thanks for your video.
Some people want a nice car, a nice house etc. I want a nice old singer chain stitch embroidery machine. 😂 I'm going to get one eventually and embroider my own work!
The embroidery on the Nudie Cohen suits for every country star plus Elvis and Liberace etc (oh, and Elton John) was done with these machines. How I got interested in them. Thanks, great walk through!
WOW-The condition is amazing even, or especially, for just sitting unused. I've seen short clips of these in action on the forums but this overview is terrific, thanks Alexander!. Neat/unique machine.
Nice overview. I bet a line shaft powered sewing shop must have been a sight to see. There's a guy on RUclips that maintains a steam and line shaft powered machine shop.
You always have excellent videos on these machines. I have to admit I'm a little envious because I love working on these machines and running them. I'm not a professional or trained repairman but they're awesome machines.
I really enjoyed this video. Thanks for the walk through of this machine. I'd love to see videos on a glove sewing machine like the singer 91k5 or a post bed machine like the Singer 238. It's hard to get a sense of some of these unusual machines from all the low quality videos that other folks put out. You do a great job talking about the machines and shooting well lit shots. Thank you and keep up the great work!
Wow could do with this to do my quilts - would you believe I still have a singer treadmill and no you aren’t getting it - my mum used to till she passed away at 93 yrs ..
I just bought a 111W121 and I am going to restore it. It's been sitting for a while and needs some work. This video helps. Thank you. If you've found a service manual your machine online, please send it to me.
We had a cornely (paris) come in for service at my shop a few weeks back and sadly had to turn the customer away as the senior tech hadn't worked on one in a decade or more and parts aren't available for the machine. I think the machine was from the 20's if memory serves me right...
I’m trying to make a table for this machine I’ve ruined 2tables I have a jig saw a router and a drill that it oh and 3 bits for the router. Can you help please
Hi Alexander. I never saw a machine of this configuration. Looks like it has no bobbin, and a rather simple threading path. I’ve often asked myself and wondered why domestic and industrial sewing machines can’t be designed to work like this one without a bobbin. It seems like what would be the bobbin thread is pulled off a cone from under the needle and machine surface plate. Maybe I misunderstood what you said about the thread. If I did misunderstand you, would you be able to explain how this makes the stitch or possibly direct me to a site where I could read more about this machine type. Best wishes to you for a happy, healthy, and prosperous new year 2019 and beyond. Thanks for continuing to record these videos.
The main difference is that this machine does not make a "lock stitch". A lock stitch requires two threads and one thread has to go around the other, that is where the bobbin comes in. The top thread of a lock stitch has to pass completely around the bobbin to form a single stitch. This machine makes a chain stitch with a single thread. Here is a page with diagrams. The two stitches discussed here are the 101 and the 301. Hope that helps. www.coats.com/Guidance/Basic-stitch-types
You are right about the thread. The needle is a little different too, it is a hook. It pulls the thread up to form small loops, its a whole different animal.
I was wondering what the difference was between the 'W' and 'E' , so, if one had the machine, table and motor for sale, what would be a good price for the complete unit? thanks
Help!! I just bought a embroidery machine just like this..it’s just a different brand. But the set up is the exact same. I’m having troubles getting the needle to pick up the thread....it just won’t grab it! I’ve tried threading it a bunch of different times following videos step by step but it’s just not picking up.
It always seemed a little like magic to me too. These guys are more knowledgeable about these than I. Reach out to them and I am sure they can help. ruclips.net/user/TCQTexportPvtLtd
Whaaaat?! Am I the only one who has no idea how the fabric is being controlled in the machine? I assumed it was a free motion type machine but I don't see your hands. And then it goes right up to the edge and turns around? What?
Thanks for checking out my video.

There is a handle underneath the table that is hand operated. It takes practice to be any good.
How do you thread the 114W103 machine?

Interesting. So it's design was for a line shaft in old factory s.
Yes, specifically the engage/disengage feature built into the control knob.
pls i need this machion
Thanks for the video, thanks for your time. Do you sell the chain stitch machines?
Only very sporadically.
why is the singer 114 so much more sought after than slightly more modern industrial models by brother and juki like the lz271?
how fast can you turn the knob 180 to make a point?
I see people do it seemingly effortlessly but obviously they have a lot of talent.
Do they still make machines like this, new stock,or has it been totally replaced by multi stitch machines? Also, is this for sale?
Not sure about all your questions but this one is available. www.ebay.com/itm/123587678594?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649

Very nice machine, Alex. Do you know roughly what year these were built?
I am not sure, some are very old but if I were to guess, I would say this one may have be made in the 80's but again, I don't know
Mr. Dyer, do you know a reputable dealer for this machine? I would love to have one! :)
Thank you.
