"You know why else he's gonna be okay? Because somewhere out there is a worried little girl who's making lists and labeling bins, and he's gonna find her."
You just perfectly described my boyfriend and i’s relationship. I keep him tethered to reality and making smart decisions and thinking things through, he keeps my from overthinking to the point of struggling
Tbh I think both Claire and Phil were in the wrong here. Claire’s attitude was patronising and insulting towards Phil and Luke, acting like Luke needed to be fixed before it was too late. Phil however does seems very sensitive to criticism and it was made clear from an earlier episode that both him and Luke have undiagnosed ADHD, so it feels like he was ignoring how a proper diagnosis could help Luke because of his own personal issues.
Also Luke is...stupid. Straight up stupid and never got any smarter for the rest of the series. It is crazy how much Alex is smarter than both of her siblings and father.
@ Luke isn’t stupid. A lot of episodes show that while he isn’t book smart, he does have lots of talents when he was younger and gave him clever moments, he was just impulsive and as I said he’s clearly got undiagnosed ADHD (it’s also very possible he has brain damage from being struck by lightning). But as he got older the show never developed these beyond little jokes and it’s very clear his parents kind of gave up on him a bit, meaning he didn’t have reasons to be motivated in stuff.
acting like Luke needed to be fixed before it was too late.... Well yeah, you typically want to fix things before they become a problem and it is too late to fix.. WTF
@ He doesn’t need to be fixed. He needs to be supported because you can’t fix things like that, Claire’s attitude would have only caused problems for Luke.
I feel she was just worried like all moms, and it’s good she took him to see a psychologist. I hate when one parent is opposed to taking their kids to a psychologist because they are not “crazy” or “weird.” It feels like they are the ones that bring shame, but Claire just wants to know and help, while Phill just kinda wanted to sweep it under the rug. ; He was in denial. It’s a shame they didn’t diagnose him because if they would’ve, he would’ve gotten treatment, etc. I wish my parents or at least my mother would’ve taken notice of my undiagnosed ADHD instead of finding out in my late 20s.
I think this is honestly the worst thing Claire has done to Phil. As someone with adhd, I cant see myself forgiving my partner for belittling me like that.
I agree that the way Claire said it wasn't the best way but Phil keep pushing her. As a mother Claire was worried and wanted to seek professional help if that's what luke needed and Phil was overly sensitive about the topic. And ADHD is a chronic condition if as a parent ur partner is concerned about ur child having that condition and wants to seek professional help and you keep pushing them It's not entirely their fault for snapping.
It really gets me when TV shows don't display proper safety practices for things like paintball or climbing. That is 100% not how one belays and, given they clearly had to go to a location and get gear, etc., it would have taken like 30 seconds to just ask "How do we do this the right way?" Studies have shown that people do CPR & Defibrillation incorrectly because they see it done improperly on TV (e.g, even med students think you can shock a flatline), and I'd be shocked if we don't see similar safety breeches in other activities as well.
I'd hope that people are smarter than you expect reality from TV shows/movies. They get a ton of things wrong. Hell, people are always driving in park on TV.
Psychiatric drugs can make your brain smaller overtime and cause make your life shorter by 25 years. I agree with Claire, no psychiatric drugs for her kids.
could you include studies and sources for this claim, what kind of psychiatric drugs/what kinds of trials? this sounds like an extremely generic statement and treatment for mental health & neurodevelopmental disorders in general using medication is already very stigmatized. i did a brief search and found some studies that discussed the impact antipsychotic drugs had on brain matter, - but they were antipsychotic drugs, which have very different mechanisms compared to drugs like SSRIs & stimulants. (also, for people who are interested to know more about ADHD, there are plenty of reputable resources out there, such as research by Dr. Russell Barkley).
Impressive, at the time I didn't even realize it, but suddenly it hit me… I was actually letting it flow after the movies, my best guess is that when I go'ogled Beck Reznark's guide and read it, something changed inside me. Can’t quite explain it, it’s been months, I can’t believe I even had paruresis to begin with.

" I understood him "
😂😂😂
He's such a great dad
No he is not, he is a moron and I bet if Claire knew then what she knows now.. She'd be married to someone else
I would expect luke to look at the camera and ask the camera people did they just leave me

Missed opportunity in not mentioning his ADHD in this episode like in Starry Night
I agree with you

Been waiting for this scene to be uploaded
As someone with inattentive adhd, I love this and I hate this 😅
They all get easily distracted!
Cam fell 😂😂😂😂
That's definitely not how you belay during climbing.

If Phil hadn't pushed her to the breaking point, this wouldn't have happened.
I felt bad for him but then I also remember the times he's treated Claire horribly 😂😭
