Literally just started watching this (March 2021). I... I can't. Beej just said "See you in 2021" and I had to check the upload date at the bottom. This is too ominous and it's hilarious
I lost on turn 1 of my first game. We had lots of infected black cities, somebody flipped a epidemic on their first turn and caused a series of black outbreaks that caused us to lose the game for running out of cubes. Was crazy. Been a fun game otherwise.
With 2020 almost over, it feels like the ideal time to finally sit down and watch something we never realized we'd be living in real life, but here we are. Hopefully things went better in this game than they're going right now. Though, to be fair, it looks like this thing is almost done, so that's good news; only took a year.
As an experienced Pandemic Legacy player currently moving into Season 2, you guys are doing pretty well and suffering the same way everyone has through this game. One suggestion I would make are get your permanent character upgrades ASAP.
The dispatcher and the medic are best friends, also there are a lot of extra characters in original pandemic, and in that game the quarantine specialist is even better with the dispatcher.
Dinah Harrold I’ve only ever played with 3 people at once, but the Dispatcher, Medic, and Construction Worker (I think it’s called) are a really fun combo. The Construction worker can build a CDC building on the place he’s on by discarding a card, allowing a ton of mobility. The Quarantine specialist is really good with the Dispatcher as well.
So watching Beej's last pull was super stressful. Because after he Epidemic'd Miami and Drew Sao Paolo. You guys were dead to either a Bogota or Miami Flip. Since the chain would've triggered 5 Outbreaks. I was terrified for y'all.
I have recently introduced my 8 year old daughter to the original game with the first expansion. I originally liked the game as it let me and my wife play co-op which a nice change of pace. This show will be a good opportunity to see if this is worth our limited 💰.
Just bought and played Pandemic Original for the first time, and is so very poignant now as we all, across the world struggle with lockdown, super spreaders, vaccines etc. A brilliant game by the way and having only played once, already thinking about investing in Legacy Season 1.
its great to watch this back after finishing december and seeing the things we did wrong lmao. nothing major but minor things that wouldnt change the outcome of our game much.
Good game guys. My group just finished season 1 yesterday and we all had a blast playing. Although, chat is right about only putting *up to* three cubes on a city when resolving the infect step of an epidemic card. It says so on page 11, under "Epidemic cards".
I know this is really old, but am I the only one who thinks the character abilities not having names is a bit of a flavor fail? The Medic's abilities could have been named Medication Push and Mandatory Vaccination. The Dispatcher could have had Mission Detour and "Paging Dr. Jones..." Scientist has something like Brainiac, Researcher has Academic Report and Generalist could have had Time Management and Jack-of-All-Trades. Just an idea that no one will probably see. /shrug
Martin Glamur I’ve played it a few times with friends (the base game at least, not legacy edition). It’s more difficult than you would think, but it’s super fun.
More game, i would like to see more evening , and more game! that was fun watching episode , why you make not so many episode of board games playing??? you were funny company of guys , made me laugh a few time.
@@BKStarlet08 i searched the game after i watched a few more episodes, there are kits thst give you the stickers and things that should be destroyed back, but you arent meant to remove the stickers
Haha Beej does my pet peeve in a game. Asking people for their opinion on a character choice when the other player can't see the character options to choose from. But acknowledges by holding the options up but in such a way the other person doesn't really have the ability to read them and therefore STILL cannot make an informed choice.
Should have tried to eradicate yellow. You had Red cured and it wasn't dangerous at the beginning of Ben's turn. Ben could have flown to one of his yellowcards and started to clear out yellow then have beej jesus him through the rest of the disease.
Ben flies to Sao Paolo > Bogota > Mexico City > LA you still would have had zero danger cities at the end of his turn then beej on his turn figures out a way to get you to any cities that have yellow cubes left to get the eradication bonus. Still good game guys.
After drawing an epidemic as your first card, you don't draw another. This makes epidemics extra painful, but means you cant get two back to back in one turn.
That's not true. When you draw player cards that happens simultaneously, so if you get an epidemic first card you still get to keep the second card. In the overlooked rules section it specifies that "you do not draw a replacement card after drawing an epidemic card" i.e. you don't get a bonus card to make up for drawing an epidemic.
Yeah that’s not true. You draw two cards at the same time. You don’t stop drawing, you just to replace the epidemic card with another card. I think that’s what you were getting confused.
Not true. You draw both cards at the same time, even if one of them is an Epidemic Card (you draw both before resolving the epidemic). I.e. If you draw an Epidemic Card and the Resilient Population (Funded Event), you can use that right away in between the steps of the Epidemic Card. Also it is possible to draw two epidemic cards (although very rare). You just resolve one at a time as normal. They actually specify this in particular in the rule book.

Did... Did Ian know something we didn't?
I see I'm not the only one that thought now would be an apt time to binge this
I know riht? I imediatelly went tot the date to see when this was posted.
That line didn't age well
Paul: "Is this like Jumanji? You get sucked into the game"
The context of the near future: "DON'T"
Oh, that's what happened! Wonder if their Risk Campaign will become reality too. I wouldn't mind some war bears.

Had a similar event occur with the Yellow disease on us.

In hindsight, "New Zealand chose not to participate in Pandemic" is very funny

One of the diseases should be called risk legacy
I do love the 'interesting fact' method of sharing research.
Watching this in May 2021, the budget cut at the end was too real.

Fun fact, Istanbul is actually named after the fact that it is a city, look it up.
Ah yes, the illustrious and beautiful city of City.
Humans are bad at naming things, no matter where you go.
Beej: See you in 2021!

My mom and I played both seasons of this and in our playthrough blue was also the mutated disease. Blue is evil.
This is my absolute favorite board game. I'm so excited to watch this

It also says that if there was already a cube of that color an outbreak occurs, which was the point.

For whatever it's worth I saw it. I don't think it's super necessary (especially since most would be classified as passives) but wouldn't hurt.
