Ruth Handler, co-founder of Mattel, observed her daughter Barbara playing with paper dolls for hours. This sparked Ruth's vision to create a 3-D doll for girls to play out their dreams. Then, in 1959, the first Barbie doll-named after Ruth's daughter-made its debut at New York Toy Fair. At first, Barbie was received with skepticism by the industry, but Ruth persevered. And now, over 55 years later, Barbie is a global icon inspiring girls everywhere to be anything. From her 180 careers, to her fantasy roles and her countless fashions and accessories - Barbie has always offered girls choices and endless storytelling possibilities. Hearing about those women who are “real life” barbies have nothing on Jessica. You don’t need plastic surgery to emulate the style and sass of a Barbie!
I dont get Why the "Barbie" Steryotype is A Pink Girl who has a fashion forward sence of fashion,Has like 163718 Plastic Implants,Has 2819 boyfrirends and is mean...I mean barbie IS plastic but she is a TOY DOLL and sure shes a fashionista but she also has a lot of jobd making her hardworking and inspires others
She's so underrated. Btw guys she's super kind. Earlier this day, i was scrolling through tiktok and i saw a video about a grandfather that was grocery shopping but wont able to buy stuffs cuz the shelves are empty. Then i saw the comments and i saw Jessica Vill's comment. She was offering some resources to the grandfather! How kind!!
So pretty, as always...love this style, that teal blue color should be used more, it's SO vintage makeup. Also, idea for a video: Since we're in 2020, how about trying to recreate one of those "roaring 20s" party makeup? I'm sure you would nail it.
@@cheriebomb158 I know, I was talking about a more "party look"...google it, you'll know what I'm talking about. The crazy heavy eye-shadow and contours, the moussy hair, flowery/fluffy tiaras, and lots of shinies. Just an idea going with the 20's motif :/ btw, I'm going crazy now, cuz' I'm pretty sure there was a video on 1920's makeup on the channel, but I can't for the life of me find it. Plenty of 50/60s, nothing lower than that. Still...just an idea.
Cool! It's also when Walt Disney's Sleeping Beauty was released. So I celebrated its 60th anniversary last year by watching the film on its release date, January 29. My mom was born in 1956, and my dad was a year later.
Thank you so much ! For this beautiful and nostalgic look , and most definitely for representing Barbie and her true image of the role model she is . It honestly makes me so happy , and it’s so heartwarming for Barbie Collector like me 💗🌷⭐️✨
The thing i enjoy and love about your videos is that, it is not only entertaining but we also learn, not only by your tips and ideas, but also the history that comes with your videos. 💖 🇵🇭 PH
Oh my gosh! That's so cool! I have a kind of weird obsession with Barbie. The 1950s were the best. There were a lot of cool Disney films coming out too, like Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Alice in Wonderland (I also love Disney), and I love the 50's fashion. You look beautiful.
The first Barbie is giving some SERIOUS side eye, she looks like such a mean girl!
Haha I was thinking same
She wasn't meant to be a kid's toy. She was more of a decoration piece or smth.

This is my mom’s first Barbie (she was born 1951)! She had the ‘dark haired one’ as my mom called her. This is so cool! :)
DevilishDaysxMaui does she still have it?
Marissa Perez She does! She has a few of them still
@@DevilishDaysxMaui they might be rare/collectibles! (I'm not too sure though)
Emily Li Yes she is! She’s unfortunately not got her box or stand so she’s not worth as much but it’s an invaluable memory for my mom lol
My grandma was born in 1952 and I'm very upset that she never had Barbies in her entire life even vintage 😭😭😭

Ah Bah Ui Hh
I don't t understand if it's cheap or expensive from back in the day
$3 then is worth $26.85 now, kinda pricey I guess
Abdullah Ansari really? Damn barbie was pricey then and still kinda pricey now
Yöki - Yåki back then it would’ve been expensive but nowadays it would be cheap
It was pricey, but made well. The clothes then had real buttons, snaps and zippers.
Love you!!!
So glad you posted a new vid! Love this look ❤️ And stay safe x
That swimsuit tho'💜
Nailed it! Love this so much!
