NOBODY has sung "America the Beautiful" like Ray Charles did. It's downright amazing!!
It could never ever be so real and true.
Amen to that 🌹
Ray is surely an American treasure! A better artist doesn't exist! One of those singers who can make you feel what he is singing!
The Stampeders did a fun version of HTRJ

I love hearing Ray sing, "Georgia on my mind". Makes me think of a warm, lazy summer night on the porch with a cold drink while watching the fireflies.
Man, that is one cool memory.
@@MidwestFarmToys Well, there's the power in his voice and the dreamy, longing in the sentiment, that many people can relate to in some way. Then there's the visual/descriptive imagery of those actual and/or metaphorical roads, all leading back to that one special place or person...
I'm guessing you might like action movies over romance? Something with a nice neat plot with a beginning, middle and end, rather than deeper explorations of the human psyche? The overt, material world over the interior, spiritual?
That's OK, it's 'horses for courses' where taste is concerned. But maybe this can give you some insight into why some people absolutely love this song, even though, like a lot of good things in life, it's really beyond words.
He got a lot of flack from other black artists when he redid a country/western song titled "I Can't Stop Loving You." It is a fabulous song, very soulful and heart felt!
I have the album!! Ray Charles does select Country and Western Songs!
He had a huuuuuge country hit with "Crying Time" too.
Following his musical roots
I Can't Stop Loving You is probably my favorite, brings back lots of memories as a child.
Susan Figueroa, like who?
If you watch the movie "Ray", you'll see he wrote this song to break up with one of the backup singers. He was married but having an affair with her on the road. She made the mistake of calling his house after the tour was over, and that how he ended it with her. A great movie if you haven't seen it.
Percy Mayfield wrote hit the road jack in 1960 became famous when charles sung it
SEVEN SPANISH ANGELS is a duet Ray Charles did with Willie Nelson. Absolutely beautiful song as well as Ray's rendition of AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL. Thanks guys ✌🏼✌🏼
Not letting blindness limit him is the feeling I always get from hearing him singing Georgia On My Mind, ever since 1960. 💖
Ray's Raelettes were great back up singers. I'm so glad you watched the movie. I waited to leave til the theater was almost empty because I didn't want everyone to see my crying like a baby. When I stopped in the restroom on my way out, everyone was sobbing. One of my favorite movies.
When you're ready for more from Ray Charles check out some of these: "Drown In My Own Tears", "Unchain My Heart", "I Can't Stop Loving You", "I Got A Woman", "What'd I Say", "Georgia On My Mind", and "America the Beautiful".
HUGE RABBIT HOLE
keep on!
That was the raglets. In movies with Jamie Foxx. 1 of them said, does that mean we have to let ray.
Ray Charles blew every genre out of the water. He blended everything into his own style.
A true national treasure!
I was 12 when I first heard this song! I'm now 72 and still love it! If I could still dance I'd be up rocking around the room! ckeck out "Rainy Night in Georgia"
There are no bad Ray Charles songs ~ I hope you react to more of his music ~
Ray's vocal range was unmatched, absolutely in a class all by himself.
" Unchain My Heart" straight out banger
RIP MR. CHARLES 🙏♥️
The GREAT RAY CHARLES!!!!! LEGEND!
If you haven’t seen it already, you should check out the movie “Ray”. Jamie Foxx won the Academy Award for playing Ray Charles and he was outstanding. The story of Ray’s life was very sad at times. Movie actually won several awards that year. Well worth watching.
if you want some more info check out a Ray Charles vlog by Daze With Jordan The Lion who interview one of his friends from many years ago and went to his home town
The movie Ray is outstanding!
My Dad took me to my first concert ever and it was to see the great Ray Charles. He was wonderful. It was one of my greatest memories.
A grand piano, four amazing back up women and a blind ARTIST. Soul, oh yes. Love my RAY of sunshine.
Hit the road, Jack became a popular saying during arguments after this song hit big.
Ray is amaaazing!!
Brother Ray! I had the good fortune of seeing him Live at the Hollywood Bowl in the mid-90s. He had the same energy then as when he was young...it was an amazing show.
Obviously none of us were there but based on movie what I love is they did this kinda off the cuff . the lady's just rolled wit the vibe n it all came togerher
Ray was soooo good. There will never be another like him.
Ray could do it all! "Hit the road Jack" was used a lot in high school.
i miss him he was so good at singing and playing the piano
More Ray, Please
This is a hoot! I love love love Ray Charles. When I was a little girl we had several of his albums. I know this sounds silly, but it is one of my happiness memories. My Mom and I would often pretend to be his back up singers the "Raylettes" :). We thought they were so pretty and graceful. We would dance back and forth and do the hand moves and pretend to be singing into a microphone. It's so funny even today, after 50 years, when I listen to him, I still find myself singing the background parts. :)
Rayyyyy- yep, a national TREASURE!!! 🥰
He was such a legend, and it doesn't matter that he was blind. He still would have been awesome.
After having some breakups in my life, I hear this song, and it really is the way people break up. At first, the ladies are angry (HIT THE ROAD JACK), then they are so heart-broken when they sing, "Don't you come back no more." It's a heartbreaking song.
What a talent!
Speaking Of Must Hear Blind Musical Legends,, Jose Feliciano "Light My Fire" 🔥
I was fortunate enough to see Ray Charles in the early 90s... absolutely amazing! He had soul to spare *(^,^)*
You really need to check out the Ray Charles scene from the movie "The Blues Brothers".
In fact, you need to watch the whole movie, but this scene is one of the best! 😎
I have always loved the "don't CARE" from the bottom off everything ❤❤❤❤ he is so friking amazing
Please can you guys also play his big hit ''What I Say'' from 1959.
Check out The Stylistics singing Betcha By Golly Wow, it's so good. A soul classic.
One of Ray Charles iconic songs! Yes, he's pretty young here. 👍👍👍
Ray Charles was the first artist to own the rights to his own music. Before that the record companies owned the rights to artists songs.😎😎😎😎
This was a huge hit back in the day. Lots of fun!
Nobody did it better than Ray.
"Georgia on my Mind" will melt your heart!!
Love me some Ray Charles! Great reaction! Thank you ❤️🙏
Ray Charles just a American Treasure!! the best.
if you 2 get the chance watch the movie ray. its awesome! jaimie foxx does a great job doing ray charles.
His most famous commercial was probably for Diet Pepsi, "You Got the Right One Baby, Uh Huh!"
the soul, the pain and the humor all work together to hit all of our emotions...Ray Charles...have you reacted to What'd I Say yet?
That line is still used the same way today - "Hit the road, Jack, & don't you come back no more!"
Ray got swag!👏🏿👊
This gives me a Vibes because i am teaching ballroom dancing and this Jive is part of the dance that is why HIT THE ROAD JACK is one on my song list in my phone. and its been 20yrs since i first heard this song dance on it too 😁😅
Can't go wrong with Ray.
One thing about the older recordings that I notice is how far away from the mic they are yet the vocals are still clean. No hyper-sensitive headset mics to catch every nuance of sound.
Ray was great i saw him at artscape back in 82
Two Ray Charles songs you've done so far and none from the first, the original soul singer, Sam Cooke. I keep trying to get you guys to react to him doing the live black and whiter version from the old American Bandstand of "You Send Me" and the studio version of "Bring It On Home To Me". Sam has influenced more singers since his gospel days than any other singer in history. At least one by him.
Yes,yes,yes,Sam Cooke!!!
Love this song by Ray C. It’s a classic.
Check out Ray Charles and Willie Nelson singing Seven Spanish Angels.
It will hit you right in the feels. :)
You ought to hear him sing IT'S NOT EASY BEING GREEN .Make you cry
Iconic old song. Everyone knows (or should know) this song. It's a classic with a capital "C".
Great song!
Thanks for replaying it. I’ve heard this song a lot because it was a big hit but it’s special watching the video. The ladies were so cool.🥰🥰🥰
The backup singers were called the Raelettes. Ray had a reputation of ‘being friendly’ with all of them them. There was a saying back then, “If you want to be a Raelette, you have to let Ray.” (True story.)
There were nine kids in my family eight girls and one boy my brothers name was Jack and we used to sing this to him all the time!
Ray Charles was still alive when the movie was being made It was one of the last things he worked on before he passed away He was proud of Jamie Foxx in his role
Mel your dining at the beginning is always amazing! Love Ray’s music!
Ray Charles "You'll don't know me" great song to react to next.
His NIGHT TIME IS THE RIGHT TIME and I GOT A WOMAN and I CAN’T STOP LOVING YOU. I need to rewatch the movie. Thanks and enjoy!
Ray is the best.
Classic ❤️..... I had a close friends dad's name was Jack ... We sang this over brandy coffee ☕
🙌👏‼️. Ray Charles❣️💙🎶 I am 74 and Ray Charles was my first musical artist obsession from age 13! I collected every single album he made. I shared his music with everyone I knew. At our 50th HS reunion everyone reminded me of that😂. I got to see him in concert in 1963 in San Jose CA and waited in the parking lot afterward and got to shake his hand as he was getting on his tour bus. I was never going to wash it again! A big part of my life has been spent listening, dancing, and singing along with the man! Great reaction🙌👏💯 thanks for doing this! There are lots more early gems for you to mine.
Your going to Love this one ! We all do enjoy Americas Treasure
I once took care of a woman with Alzheimer's, and when she'd start to get agitated, I'd pull out my phone and start playing this song. She'd immediately start clapping, doing the deep shoulder moves and sing along word for word. Sure miss that lady. Actually miss all the folks I had the privilege to care for over the past 30 plus years.
R.I.P Mr Ray Charles
Ray Charles is what actual talent sounds like. He blows the doors off the garbage that's being called music nowadays
I hope more people react to this video in the future - thanks for doing it!
So good you had to play it twice! Oh yeah!
My granddaughter and sister won a talent contest at school singing this song!
Congratulations on your eight years together. I'd like to suggest you react to the Johnny Rivers song Slow Dancing, Swaying to the Music. I'm sure you will love it.
Love this song!
Happy 8th Anniversary! Congratulations!
I had the awesome opportunity and privilege to see Ray Charles in concert at the Seattle center in October 1968....I had just moved to Seattle for college and was just 18 years old...my first live experience..🤗♥️♥️♥️
Ray Charles had one of the top selling Country Music Albums of all time. He is one of the few people to be in the Country Music and Rock and Roll Halls of Fame.
This song was used and reminds me of the Grumpy Old Men and Grumpier Old Men movies. If you like this kind of vibe, you will love the movies!
Love to see you listen to Ray Charles duet with Billy Joel, Baby Grand.
priceless gem
He was.blind, and on dope, unbelievable
Ray Charles was a real charmer & so talented, he came to my city Edmonton (Canada 🇨🇦) back in the 70’s what a great performance 😍 I met him after the concert & will never forget how handsome & charming he was - a meeting I’ll never forget 🎵☮️🥰 I wish he had been my piano teacher!! Thanks for this special reaction.
Love you guys too. LOL Fantastic reaction.
Loved Rays band and I had a hard time playing piano when I could see it always amazes me those who are blind can do it so well
I'm late to the party! Excellent selection. You can't beat Ray. You absorb need to react to "I Can't Stop Loving You" (original Hank Wiliiams). Also "You are my Sunshine" another great song. Love you guys!
A true Legend! 💯🔥♥️
he is surely one of the greatest to ever do it. ok it's Barry White time. we been waiting too long
❤ Ray Charles . I can't stop loving you is an old country song that he took to new levels and of course Georgia.
The world was blessed to have Ray
Ray Charles sings the best version of "It's Cold OUtside." Consider listening to it.
Ray Charles died before the movie was released but I think he was pleased with Jamie Fox portraying him.
Who doesn't love this great song?
This song is so cool just love it and love how he sounds and love HIt the Road Jack and dont you come back no more. great line
ok! me--ellllll! this is the best hair ever!!! stay with this one
This is why I live you guys. Most would just listen to a song, say "thanks, subscribe, see you later" and that'd be the end of it. But you two actually go to the length of listening to the video again (in part or in full) to make sure you've absolutely taken everything in and have enjoyed the song in as much detail as possible. Not a lot of people go to that extent! A few questions for you, if I may... How do I request a reaction? Is there a limit on the type or age of music you'll react to? Is there a limit on the length of video you'll react to?
Thanks
I know that Mel would love the song "The boy down the road" by Seals and Crofts who were famous back in the 70s. It is a favorite of mine and it will make Mel cry.
Margie Hendrix was a Realet & had some minor hits of her own in the 60's on the Sound Stage 7 Record label out of Nashville.
Love Ray's music. He does a beautiful job on America the Beautiful
