- As parents of a four-year-old, minivans seem like the most logical vehicle choice for our current life stage. For this review, @toyotausa was kind enough to lend us their 2022 Toyota Sienna Platinum AWD for a week's worth of testing.
This thing really is a living room on wheels. IN FACT, we actually had not one BUT TWO movie nights in the back of this minivan. With its 1080P screen, reclining seats with ottomans, and 4-zone climate control we were in heaven. Next best thing to a drive-in movie!

I appreciate your review. It covered the information that I’m most interested in. Looking at a minivan isn’t like a high performance vehicle so engine information isn’t a big deal in this situation (though I do have some education in that aspect of a vehicle). A deep dive into the engine would have been superfluous . I know Toyotas and hybrids well enough, so the important part of that to me is the mpg. I also appreciate that you included both yours and your wife’s perspective. Kudos and thank you for sharing this thorough review.

Let me tell ya.... the Sienna looks like the bargain of the 2, if you want a hybrid powertrain. sheesh...

This is a luxurious car. Traveling in minivans have far superior comfort and storage. Too bad Americans look down on minivans.

not really, they're so hard to get your hands on nowadays.
We’ve have a 2021 Sienna Platinum for about 20 months now and put 41k miles on it (it’s our only vehicle). We’ve taken it on a 17 hour drive a couple of times and lots of in-town driving. Hands down…the best vehicle purchase we’ve ever made. The last 2 minivans we had were the top trim level of the Honda Odyssey and it really couldn’t compare to the Sienna. The MPG is fantastic, the floating bridge is our favorite feature, and our young daughter can’t get enough of the ottoman. I’d never gotten compliments about our top trim Odyssey, but we’ve received multiple compliments about our Sienna. I really can’t recommend it enough.
It really is a slick vehicle.

if an adult like myself 5.2 used the second row seat and reclined can kids still sit in the third row? Will there be enough leg room in the third row? Or does the second row needs to pushed back all the way not leaving any leg room in the third row in order to use the ottoman feature? I have 3 petite teen girls that is why I am asking

I have a question, I got a Toyota Sienna today, it is a 2023 XSE 25th anniversary edition hybrid 7 seater. It has all the packages with recliner ottoman seats in the 2nd row, entertainment package for the kids in the back but I was surprised to find out that this was FWD and not a AWD. I thought that this special XSE trim would include AWD but I a little disappointed when it came with FWD. Why would they make FWD in the 25 year anniversary edition? Didn’t Toyota say they would have the AWD as one of the features? Would you know why that is?

The ottomans are standard. The rear view mirror is optional.
How much did you get it for? Need to add a lot on top of MSRP?

Good review and thank you for sharing your video. I just wished the sound system would have been tested on the Platinum edition you drove. Because, yesterday Sept 21, 2022 I test drove a 2022 Toyota Sienna XLE AWD and the sound system was absolutely horrible to try to listen to. I tried adjusting the equalizer and it didn't help much. The sound system was so bad that I had to shut it off. I didn't purchase this vehicle because of how bad the sound system sounds. Maybe the Platinum edition has a way better sound system than the XLE edition. Honestly, the sound system in my 2007 Camry Hybrid sounds way better than the Sienna XLE I test drove yesterday. Toyota, if you are reading my review, please fix this problem! I mean, spending $56,000 on a Sienna XLE with a crappy sound system is shameful.
Ours had the JBL, but honestly our son didn’t let us listen to much other than his songs 🤣
How is driver seat for tall people? I’m 6’4.
It was comfortable for me at 5’ 10”, unfortunately I don’t have access to taller drivers to test

At 5’2” you should be able to use the ottoman and third row. My wife (5’) rode with her feet up and kids in the third row seat.

For anyone still following along with the comments, the ottomans are not to be used while the vehicle is in motion. It can cause the seatbelt to ride up onto the neck and belly, it's quite dangerous. It's addressed in the manual.
Does this particular vehicle come with a spare tire? Or does it come with the tire repair/inflator kit?
a tire repair kit is standard, spare tire is optional. As ours had the "Entertainment package with options" our particular tester DID have the spare.

I've got a 21 XSE AWD and I'm 6'0" tall and my head doesnt touch the inside panel of the tailgate when open. I'm thinking you didnt set the door to it's maximum height before reviewing this. It's pretty simple to do.
Trust us, it was at max height. 🤷🏼♂️
Sorry, GT, I’m with Robert. I’m also 6’0” and I’ve never had this issue. We have the tailgate set to about 80% height because when it’s in our garage, we don’t have the clearance…but in regular situations we force it up (grocery store, etc) and it’s plenty tall.
@@GTGarageTalk since this reply, I watched the video again and thought maybe the minivan squatted because of all the luggage in the back. As I loaded mine completed full last week for a trip, I checked the height once more and I'm not close to be touching. So either your vehicle had a mechanical problem or it wasn't pushed all the way up. Did you guys have a chance to try it again?

@@charlesy8328 We did not buy this one. Toyota Corporate loaned it to us for the purposes of this review. We did love it enough to buy it. Tucker was so sad to see it go that he cried.
