Idk, I just needed more Kel angst, because they kinda are all traumatized babies.
And Kel feels like one of those that would bottle everything up until they eventually explode.
Still, we are happy that in this case he got a happy ending :)

Well, he does move on the easiest out of all the characters, despite mourning, he continues to live his life, at the same time however, people forget he's probably the one who holds in the most of his feelings.
A lot of people don’t like kel because of his blunt and straightforward personality, and how “quickly he got over it” but he seriously hid his pain so much and I feel so bad for him. He constantly lives in his brother’s shadow and his parents literally ignored him after the argument with hero where he was left sobbing. He literally blocks out pain and laughs it off because he’d rather focus on the people around him instead of himself. Like the others he dealt with the trauma in his own way. Yesss I love him so much too!! At the beginning I was a big fan of little shy scared Basil, but after Kel's conversation with Sunny at the cemetery I immediately started to pay attention to him more, and as time passed he just became my favourite character.

kel may be the comedic relief but he still has his struggles. he pretended to be okay through all of what was happening with his friends, but deep down he was suffering, just like everyone else. he just didn't want to show it, so that others could be happy. he's a people pleaser.
People might hate Kel because of how rude he was to Aubrey or whatever, but man seriously was bottling it up SO SO SO HARD. He showed no bit of sadness, and always comforted everyone , despite being slightly anoyying, he’s doing what’s best for EACH character . (Hero , Sunny and aubrey.)

I don't really agree with the whole "Kel is bottling up his sadness" thing, I think he's mostly happy, but I will agree that he represses his emotions alot. He doesn't really get angry or sad when it comes to it, I think that's because in his mind it's kind of illegal. Kel is a very interesting character =v=

I love how it shows the death of Mari out of the group of six, Basil disappearing, Omori withdrawing, Aubrey getting greedy, and Hero getting depressed.

the fact that Kel's birthday was only a few weeks after Mari's death, meaning that it wasn't celebrated :((
Wow, this is a good animatic! And poor Kel, even if he's the one who coped the best, it's clear that after the group broke apart, he was incredibly lonely. He was able to make some friends, but not close ones, nothing like the found family that Aubrey has with The Hooligans. In an AU where he's also deeply depressed...after trying for so long, Sunny not opening the door before leaving (and Basil killing himself) would definitely be the last straw. My boy...
smiling through the pain is probably/is the worst way of coping with trauma and death because i used to do it alot and people not knowing how you are feeling and making assumptions and comments like as if you never cared about it can really take a toll on your mental health and make you feel like what your doing is wrong and making you start to believe that you dont care like everyone says but you cant show the feelings because no one will be happy and you 'need' to make everyone happy. kel is litterally the sunshine to everyones moon (i kin kel iif you couldnt tell)

Yeah that's what told me this was gonna be one of those Omori animations- god the way Kel slowly loses motivation, the way his hand hits the alarm clock slower and slower, the chorus showing Kel falling below the other copies, and then one of those copies looking very similar to Mari... I'd hate to see what would have happened if Sunny didn't open the door.
And then Sunny notices him crying, and immediately Kel wipes his tears, covering up the pain again.
I- there is a scene where one of the distorted kells is... Well. He hanged himself. Great detail!

Ok so I finally went back to this and- I just LOVE the detail where all the poses at the start was Kel with his friends, then at 0:13 everyone starts to leave or change, making Kel alone. Then from the real world parts its just Kel in place of his friends. Also can I just say that 1:48 caught me SO off guard, this is depressing

Yes, during my first run I didn't really like Kel this much, but the more I got involved into Omori's fandom the more I got to appreciate his character. I feel like he would be kinda selfless, and just wants everyone to be happy like they were before, not aknowledging his own struggles~

I think a reason why Kel is my favorite character is because of his coping. I'm someone who would do the same as he did, just generally hide with a smile and try to help everyone else. I think it might also be that he's like me and like a people pleaser? I just kinda see him as always doing extra tasks for other people and stuff like that.(He's also just super cool and my kinda person ^^)

People seem to gloss over kel's situation and the struggles he probably went through.
Hero was at college
Aubrey was unapproachable
Basil & Sunny vanished
He was basically alone
Okay, so, a couple things:
1. As someone with ADHD, with many family members who have ADHD, my best friend having ADHD, and at least one of my QPPS (that I've known since we were 7) having ADHD, I am 99.999% sure Kel has ADHD. And one thing that is unique about people with ADHD is how we grieve, and it's not something that's often discussed. See, people with ADHD have executive dysfunction. One executive function that is often dysfunctional in people with ADHD is object permanence. What this means is that if something is not clearly present, we tend to just not really think about it at all. Basically, out of sight, out of mind. This 100% applies to people, and often causes tension in relationships. But it ALSO applies to people who have since passed. This means that, a lot of the time, people with ADHD don't think about the person who has passed because that person isn't around anymore, and this can often come off as us moving on too quickly. In reality, though, this causes the grieving process for people with ADHD to be significantly longer than it otherwise would have been. Because, what eventually happens is, we will be reminded of the person, then we will remember that they are no longer with us, then all of that grief that we should have been processing comes back fresh and strong like the person just passed, AND we tend to feel guilty for forgetting about them on top of that. It's a vicious cycle. On top of that, due to rejection sensitive dysphoria, it wouldn't be unheard of for someone with ADHD to blame themselves for a friend group splitting apart and to feel like they're not wanted and making things worse. Not to mention, ADHD people are often taught to mask, and this definitely includes masking their emotions. This matches up exactly with Kel's behavior in the game. I recently lost my grandma, who I was very close with, so Kel is a character that I see a lot of myself reflected in. And that's hardly scratching the surface of the ADHD symptoms he displays in the game. And I can also say that I was always the friend to put on a smile and pretend everything was okay, because I felt like if I broke down, they would all come tumbling down with me. 2 of my QPPs were extremely suicidal in the past (the issue didn't disappear, but they are doing significantly better), so I felt like if I wasn't the strong one, they would give up hope, and it would be my fault. Even now, if I feel like my problems and my emotions are a burden to my friends, my mind tends to go to a very dark place. Even with my grandma's death, I always feel the need to be the strong one for my mom, because I'm the only one who knows how to help her through an anxiety attack, and if I'm not strong, then it will ultimately hurt her, and it will be my fault. I hate when people say that Kel isn't a very deep character. There's plenty there. And I hate that most of the reason people say they hate Kel for are symptoms of ADHD (ex. Poor emotional regulation, struggling to read emotions and pick up on social cues, forgetfulness, hyperactivity, issues mentioned above, etc.). Even his relationship with Hero I can relate to. Actually, Hero is my older brother's favorite character. He said Kel reminds him of me. I love Kel so much, and I feel like everyone adresses how everyone else is grieving, but they just gloss over Kel, and that's upsetting. This is great, though.
2. I like to headcanon that Kel has a queerplatonic or altruistic relationship with Sunny. Partially because I think it fits, but also partially because I see so much of myself in him and so I'm sort of projecting how I experience attraction onto him.
3. Crying over Omori instead of sleeping is my favorite hobby, don't you know? Really, I should go to bed now.
First of all, thank you for taking the time to write this comment under my video; I'm not really acquainted with ADHD specifically, but I know that many people think that Kel has similar behaviours. Your explaination is quite detailed, and I actually find it super interesting! I also love Kel as a character and I really don't like when other fans of the game find him superficial: trauma can be handled in very different ways, and I also feel like he would suffer from it later than his other friends. I'm really enjoying analyzing Kel's character, I hope I'll be able to work on some other animatic involving him

I've been watching this everyday atleast twice for 4 days I love it so much

okay i watched this like last month and i LOVED IT it became my favorite song soon after that, and i just rewatched it because i was in the mood to watch omori mvs and holy shit the amount of details i missed out on. i love how at the start it shows the reactions of all the characters after mari died, and how it resembles each of the characters struggles but kel *stays the same no matter what*, showing that he didnt even show any form of remorse because he was hiding it. was it eventually a bad idea? yeah, maybe, everyone thought he just moved on really fast, when he really didnt, and there isnt any saying that he ever really moved on because he never showed it. the constant attempts of knocking on sunnys door to get him to respond throughout the video just show the endless tries of him trying to connect with sunny and what hurts so much is that the decision for you to ignore kels knocking at the start of omori just sends him spiralling and he eventually just gives up on life. the song in general just shows the struggles kel went through and how he didnt express it at all throughout the whole game, showing that nobody really cares about your problems unless you make it visible. the amount of times he shows up in his bed also expresses that he wasnt going to give up but he constantly thought about it, about the fact that maybe he could stay in bed too, avoiding the problems and the stress of trying to connect everyone again, or at least stay in touch, to know that they were going to be okay because if they were okay, he thought he would be okay too. was he wrong about that too? theres a small chance that he wasnt wrong and that he did get better, considering the gradual improving of his happiness throughout the game when he hangs out with everyone, but at the same time, he always seemed happy, so maybe he was forever left to internally suffer. this song just generally fits kel, and around the 1:50 mark whenever it says "relief ended up coming", it really just shows the suicidal tendencies he could be having but never showed, because of the mask he puts on. along with this, since its the time before sunny opened the door, it really resembles how close he was to giving up completely if nothing better started happening. im actually not sure if this took place before or after hero fought him, but if it was before, that would hurt so much more, because if he did end up following through and hung himself, that would mean hero was left all by himself to suffer.
but dont let me get sidetracked, just the overview and showing kel all by himself trying to struggle keeping up the act of staying happy while trying to focus on everything else happening just trying over and over again to get sunny to respond and to get hero to respond and just try to connect everyone together again and get the group back together but there was always going to be at least somebody missing, because of maris death and i feel like the death of mari just slowly ate at him and hurt him more and more the longer he attempted to get a response out of anyone
at 2:15 and carrying onward, it shows kel in his bed distorting, and it may be resembling the repetitive days of kel trying over and over and over again, practically driving him insane.
the way he looks at the photo kind of remembering the good times when mari still was here really packs a punch in the gut, showing that he really just misses everything.
and the lyrics showing "these final days closing in on my side" might be hinting that maybe he had a plan to give up after all and could stop trying at any moment now
the fact he just gets a happy ending really cheers me up, the miserable feelings kel went through is heartbreaking and he really deserves one. and a good therapist to open up to
